"fix an broken harddisk" you didnt fix it you just replaced it im trying to recover some data off some old dead hard drives and this video fails to cover any fixing of hard drives ATALL

Ouch... This person obviously has failed to understand that a 5K4RPM hard drive does not necessarily mean it can't be replaced with a 7K2RPM one.

What it really boils down to is the actual current/power that the drive is consuming. I've run into some 5K4RPM drives consuming far more power (~700mA @5V) than a 7K2RPM drive (~400mA @ 5V).

Why rubber gloves??? rubber gloves produce static, instead of gloves I use an anti static wrist strap, It's safer!!!!

@yosoyelsupremo Yeah, didn't had them, and I had a high fever and sweaty hands. So gloves or nothing at all. And sweat is not good for the pc ;)

Yeah I filmed a part where u can see how to recover the data, still have to cut out some bits in order to get it to fit on youtube.

Hi there.

it all depends on the problem.

If you have a webcam and msn or skype I can help you.

If the problem is small you can fix it when it;s linked to a other pc with a cable. But if it's bigger you will need the instalation cd's.

Lol, double74 is spitting game, lol. But mina, are there any tools or softwares in particular that you use in order to retrieve data from a hard disk? I have an old hard disk from my old desktop which i have a lotta data on and most of those files were in different folders on the desktop..I tried connecting it externally and when i went to desktop folder, nothing is there. Any ideas what i should do?

Sorry, just saw ur message. Yes there are. Just get Partion Magic from u know where. And connect it externally to your pc. That program can check if ur data is still available, and than u can see where the problem is. U can always merge or split the disk, but that depends on ur problem. If u contact me on what problem u hae found, I'll contact u the same day back.

Nope, the owner of the laptop dropped the laptop. So the harddisk was broken. It was even so broken that when I plugged in my pc with a sata/ide usb converter the cable went up to flames. Usually I can retrieve all or most of the data, but this time it failed, cause of the servere damage. If you send me a private message with your problems maybe I can help you retrieve it.
