This is excellent. Not as good as Sheri, but very amusing, and she definitely put her own spin on it. It's definitely very very Heidi, or at least, [title of show] Heidi. Her personality shines through, and it makes her performance quite memorable.

I have recently become a big fan of heidi's version of ursula. I think that she stays a bit truer to the character vocally than sheree, because of you listen close, some parts when she yells have a raspy quality or edge to them like pat caroll did! And I just love her fluctuation!

I think Heidi is awesome. and I'm sorry but i don't see how anyone could put Faith Prince before anyone else. I haven't seen the show, but her performance on The VIew just wasn't good at all. She didn't even sing! She "spoke-sang". she mostly was just speaking. The only thing she sang was the last note and even that was boring, no vibrato or anything just one semi-long boring note. Sheri and Heidi are at the top of my list.

I got to see both Hedi and Faith in the role and although Faith wasn't bad, Hedi was AMAZING. lol. She was just so spot on. Faith delivered alot of the lines really weird.

@theatregeek208 The original Ursula did the same thing, if you watched the Disney Film. Pat Caroll never sang, because she cannot sing that good. So she spoke most of the words...which Disney encouraged. Faith Prince did a very accurate rendition and a very good job of portraying the original. This one just sounds like a hick in the beginning. I'm from Kentucky, and I know a southern Drawl when I hear it.

@Maldor20 Yes but Pat had the voice to get away with it. Why do think she was cast in a VOICE OVER role for a CARTOON? Faith Prince does not have one of those voices. She NEEDS to sing it because she's not just giving a character a voice she's bringing it to LIFE on stage and she's supposed to be SINGING in a Broadway MUSICAL. and FYI Heidi is from Fresno, the "drawl" is her character voice which she maintains and SINGS with beautifully.

she was both. She understudied, but this had to have been taken when she was the lead because she never got to on for Sherie because she left the production for another show and came back after as the lead. She is no longer Ursula though :(

She was untill another show came to Broadway and then Hedi left to do that and then Serie's contract ended and she left and then Hedi went on untill Faith Prince beacme Ursala but knowone can replace Sherie as Ursala she does the role great along with Hedi as well.

I agree Sherie was amazing as Ursula because she gave it a different look on the character but I prefer Heidi.

She is more dark and deep which I think suits it.

I really want to see Faith as Ursula though.

Nothing will ever compare to the movie version though.

I just saw this show like a day ago. The day before she left. She was beyond brilliant. I sat front row center. That girl can belt! I am not one to compare but I feel she was a tad bit better than Sherie. When I saw her she didn't sound like this though. She belted her face off. It was so good!

What do you mean better than Sherie? Sherie 3/4 of the time is pretty amazing... I will even send you links of her performance (professionally filmed) that's gonna change your thought... And I like Pat Carroll as Ursula, I like Heidi as Ursula and Faith Prince, I believe will be good. But it's not right to judge Sherie just because her voice isn't deep... Don't underestimate her. Watch and see... I like Cicily as Ursula too...:)

I saw Sherie in the show and it's nothing to do with her singing, it's her acting. I loved Sherie when I saw her in SCOUNDRELS, Ursula just isn't for her. It should have been Emily Skinner, like it was originally supposed to be.

I really don't like the way Ursula performs the line "body language" in the Broadway version. It's awkward, shouty, and overdramatic. I think a sultrier, more cackly way would be better. (A la Pat Carroll...But that's just me...always wishing the show would stick closer to movie Ursula!)

And she wasn't leaving the run early, back in November she signed her contract for only January 27th through April 5th.

Then, a little while after that Faith Prince signed on to replace her, but it wasn't announced until recently.

I have to say, though, as much as I LOVED seeing her perform as Ursula b/c she was FIERCE, I'm kind of glad shes only having a short run in The Little Mermaid.
