these man made island in dubai were the worst ideas ever! they built soo many of these peices of shit and totaly ruined the beaches of dubai.... i lived in dubai for 8 yr! the water used too be so blue and clear and had some nice small waves... and now the water is mushy and brown cus the water isent flushing out all the gunk from the boats... not too mention the first plam was sinking when they first start... talk about idiots..

I see a lot of comments about people wanting to go to Dubai or saying that the city has too much money and should feed the poor or whatever. I have been to Dubai and unless your a millionaire, you spend your day in the rest of the city which consists of crime, poverty, and starvation. I think the first thing should be providing jobs, homes, and food for there own people... then worry about playing in the sand.

You say that if world will turn to natural energy sources than Dubai will fall down and be bankrupt. But remember that this Sheikh was close to be bankrupt when the oil was ending so he came up with this economical idea so investors and business men would come and put their money into that city. So when Sheikh will smell out incoming end of economical mirracle he will find another solution to solve the problem. He is a brainiac:)

Nearly the whole world is in an economic slowdown, so your little analogy can really be applied to just about everyone. One thing is for sure, despite their numerous luxury construction projects, the UAE has actually been much more financially responsible than places such as, oh, say, the USA and Europe, and is in a much better position for an economic rebound.
