Most likely a stupid question but PA law states "..Pennsylvania law regulates automobile window tint levels. With some exceptions, light transmittance through all vehicle windows must be greater than 70%.." now it mentions factory tint isnt regulated, My family members SUV has 25% or so factory, now if i use say.. 35% (becuase 50% and above is almost unnoticable) do you think its likely im going to get pulled over and ticketed?
@ColonelVolx That a tricky one. I have never seen factory tint on the front side windows below 50%. On the rear sides its varies from 20%-35%. So if Im not mistaken you could try 50% on front sides and 20% or 35% everywhere else. Now if you do get caught you could say it the same tint level as factory but they will know it not factory tint. Factory tint wont scrape off from the inside.
Notice the Mazda SUV, its factory tint.
If I was you. I would go 50% F.sides and 35% rest.
@ColonelVolx you may not get pulled over for it, but when they pull you over, or if you're involved in some event legally, it's only a matter of time for them to tack on penalties.
this goes along the lines with seatbelt tickets if you're pulled over for speeding or in an accident.
police officers have plenty of better things to look for than judging someone's tint levels, but they will most likely check on you when they've got you for something else.
ya i had to get 30% for all 4 windows and the back in my 03 honda cuz when i had bought it i think the tint was around 10% to 15% and i would get pulled over WEEKLY by the cops also b/c the front window had 4in more of tinted part then it should have.
so the cops really drive around with these to test tinted windows? really? we have people killing other people and people selling crack to kids and our tax money is used to buy these little devices to bust people because there tint is to dark? are you fucking kidding me?
Hey man........I live in NYC, and at night I don't like people looking into the car. I also don't want people looking in during the day either.........maybe just a slight see through. However I don't want any issues when looking into my side-view mirrors at night.
What would be a good balance percentage of tint for me?? 20%, 30%, 40%, etc......?
@755hp Thats tricky, to not be seen in the day you would need 5%. But you wont see anything in your mirrors at night. 20% you can see in at day and its at the point of barely being able to see at night to back up etc.
I like 20%, it does not look like Im trying to hide anything but if you dont know me you would not be able to recognize me driving, even during the day. So its right in the middle. Also I cant back up great at night because my backup lights aren't really bright so I cant go darker.
@755hp NY legal limit is 75% for all 4 windows and 0% for the back window but most cops wont bother you for 35% my default is 70% from manufacture and you added 35% on top of it and so far no tickets i been lucky as time goes by tints get lighter.
The only people that will pay so much for tint are the ones that have never seen it done before.......It's so easy. Buy grade A tint from Ebay ...do it yourself and save $120.00. Well educate yourself and NO ONE will be able to tell the difference.
@Nutsomanic maybe so but... I have zero air bubbles in mine. In order for me to put the tint on perfectly would prob take me all day and lots of frustration. Im a perfectionist so the slightest mistake would bother me. I also make $30 an hr so if it took a day of my time to get it done and right, I would rather just pay the $180 and have it back in a hr and it be flawless.
Movement yes, face no. If they have any tint you/they cant see nothing. When I want to street race someone I have to roll down my window or I cant see if they are willing.
I paid $180 for a 4 door car. Thats sides and rear windows. But do go cheap, find the best shop you can and go there. It will be worth it in the long run.
i like window tints for the obvious reasons but if ur embarassed when ppl see u sing or pick ur nose, well, tints are good for that too.
