I was twelve years old when I contracted Lyme disease. We never even saw a rash because it bit me on the head.
Early detection and treatment are so important. I suffered a lot of pain, both from the disease and from the medication because we didn't know what I had for too long to make oral antibiotics a possibility. Please, if you think you might have Lyme, talk to a doctor. It could save you so much agony.
@CompTechnology2050 After many doctors, my mother heard of Lyme from a friend and took me to a specialist. I had one of those 50% effective tests. My test was negative, and we'd never seen a rash, but the specialist thought my case fit the profile (terrible joint pain, headaches, fatigue, etc), so he put me on antibiotics. A more aggressive IV course was needed, but I had thin veins so they had to alternate catheters in my hand every day or two. That began the long, painful recovery process.
I had lyme and it is amazing how such a tiny creature can make you so weak and helpless in such a short amount of time & it has lasting effects. It's been 1 year since I have had lyme(have had it twice so far) and I am still feeling the effects. I am weaker now more than I have ever been before I had lyme. People need to be more aware of this disease so that everyone can realize how truly devastating it really is. My life has changed forever because of it, you could be next. Always be aware!
