  • they should do that in schools for phys ed kids would love it

  • Looks silly

  • @MoiSuperAlex Smartest workout there is! it may look silly but it's not.

  • See a great Fox News feature and interview about Nia that uses this video, by going to myfoxboston and searching for "Nia Workout"

  • The videographer shoud be taught how to shoot dance and people in motion. TERRIBLE CAMERA TECHNIQUE. UGG. Got motion sick just watching it.

  • how is this different than other aerobics classes?

  • @KillinDaWelfareMCs In Nia, you sense parts of your body as you move, you interact with your community, and practice different principals like- Awareness, Self Healing, and Listening. (those aren't the names of the actual principals, but it's what they teach)

  • best exercise class I've ever been to. I loved it.

  • pfft my name is a dance, but anyway that looks fun, like a mix of salsa and yoga but then with a hint of Indian dance and free move

  • Can you say me where do you extract this video ? It's the DVD ?

  • This looks like the perfect type of fitness workout for me. I have been into mind-body-spirit for a while, but had never heard of Nia. Interestingly enough when I work out at home I have kind of incorporated yoga moves with dance moves similar to this :) I just found a class near me & I'll be joining. Thanks for sharing this!

  • can someone explain where the yoga approach is? I do not get it.

  • ..it can be found in awareness of & usage of breath, in conscious alignment of bones & body; in finding personal postures of healing when staying with stillness.

for sure more visible at the beginning & the end of class, than where the pace is more intense.

    <3

  • Basically, in the awareness and use of breath.

Also, in the opening of energy centers (chakras), and of course, many of the postures (asanas) are used verbatim in the stretches...enjoy!

  • @bassofbass

indeed, taken from yoga and other techniques.

but why give it a new name and a sign? business?

I heard there are some quite strict and expensive regulations on who is ,allowed' to teach

  • @patmoves : I can see at least 4 yoga positions just in this video.

  • Can you let me know what music did you used on this routine, I don't recognize it

  • It's called Born 2 B Wild by Puff Dragon. You can listen to it in full at the Nia website

  • @danclards But I thought I heard a fart being squeezed out.

  • @danclards thanks! That's wicked cool music for this vid:) very encouraging

  • Only wish I'd found it years ago! I just can't get enough!

  • Nia has been around for many years it is just now getting to look more corporate and start to market themselves. It's fun -

  • It's pretty new in Sheffield UK!! Only been taught here for 2 years.

  • Nia is a new class? I thought it had been around for 25 years or so.
