    GREATEST EVER, period.

  • cool

  • Ii dont understand why he changed the lyrics for the finding forever version. the lyrics for the shining version were like a thousand times better. they were more poetic i thought SupremeSupreme777

I totally agreed with you fam, i said the same thing when it came out... I was like NOOOOO Com wtf.....it kinda seemed like Com wanted to lighten up the mood and go for a Commercial sound ya dig... Or maybe Kanye mighta hyped Com up to try a new sound.. but i totally agree with you on that

  • common is the man

    Dilla ...wow......REST IN BEATS

  • man!!!!!!! dilla!!!!!

  • i dont understand why he changed the lyrics for the finding forever version. the lyrics for the shining version were like a thousand times better. they were more poetic i thought

  • if you a true fan of hip hop go to youtube search box and type in "jay jay check my vision"

  • man im getting goose bumps just listening and watching this video Man i miss

Jay Dee :( RIP Master J-Dilla

  • one thing i can always rate about this man...he knows how to be sexy-without being perverted. he presents sexual topics in a way that is actual enjoyable as a female, and doesn't just make you feel like you're a thing to be used...and not really loved. good stuff, good stuff. =]

  • ohhh mannnn perfect beat....

  • J Dilla was definitely gone too soon.

  • common is probably one of the most handsome artists alive

  • OMG, those lips. Wet and sexy is right. Wish we could see D'Angelo, too.

  • dilla is a genius hes still her in spirit

  • RIP

  • best isley brothers samp.

  • Yeah i never get tired of it as well that song. I like the j dilla version of it. At the very end what were the people talkin about on the beat?

  • RIP Dilla Dawg!!!!!

  • Damn this track alone moves me to tears of joy it's so good!

  • I swear to god i never get tired of hearing the song, especially the beginning .

  • @123macrk me neither.. Sho ya right

  • Respond to this video... This cd is one of my favorite. God I love Common

  • Damn... Isley Brothers + Dilla shoudlve collabed together :P How would that be man

  • Lol it sounds just like Ron Isley, but it's D'angelo

  • The version on Finding Forever has stronger drums, I like the beat better on that version. But Common rips it more on Dilla's version from The Shining.

  • i love the original version

    i hate that 2007 version 4real

  • RIP J DILLA

man all his shit it so smooth

    i love his shit

another one is Decieving by Drake

(Drake copied it off Slum Village)

    RIP!

  • by far dilla's greatest beat, gives me the goose bumps...

though this is the polished version... i prefer the raw version on "the shining" album

  • a real heartmelter

  • This is street ra-di-o

    For unsung hero

    .....rip J_dilla........peace from croatia...

  • off topic but that jacket is so SLICKKK

  • J Dilla Is The Greatest! J Dilla Changed My Life!!!! God Bless

  • haha. i feel ya.

    RIP Dilla.

  • LOL when i was reading this comment im like shitt me too :)

    RIP J DILLA

  • Jay dee knew how to sprinkle heaven on our ears.....

  • ya the shining version is waaaaay better

  • Check Lisa Banton on "So Far Go" Entitled "Nobody" comment and subscribe if u feel it.

  • Ey! "Bye" and "So far to go" have the same sound but Jay Dee did two different beat version wiht the original song "The Isley Brother- Don´t say goodnight" This song that common sings now have a new lyric on it, but if you all wanna hear the real lyric you have to listen to "The shining - So far to go"

  • no shit...lmao

  • One of my favorite J beats. Jay Dee or J Dilla should be a tag for this video, word?

  • lol! Wet and sexy ! right buteram . . . why is there always someone coughing in these videos! hilarious

  • This whole song has changed so much from the original "bye" from donuts album. I feel the classic dilla magic has been watered down in this latest version.

  • This is not "bye" the song is by the same name, just slowed a bit and with different verses

  • No this beat was Originally called "Bye" off the album Donuts where it was first released. The beat was actually alot better then...but kanye fucked it kinda

  • Ohhh shit I got you, you're right my bad

  • j dilla did this beat not kayne

common says it in the video

  • you're right dilla did do the beat, but kanye did fuck with it just alil bit, if u listen to the donuts version and this version they're slightly different

  • Naw,Kanye didnt do n e thing to it, Listen to "So far to go" off of "The Shining", then you'll see... It was Dilla who re-did it...

  • they are two different beats...Dilla just used the same samples on Bye on donuts and So Far To Go on the shining

  • this beat wasnt on the shining

  • this was bye and so far to go on the shining

  • I JUST LOVE THIS SONG!!! It has a vibe that I can't help but get into...i have to stop whatever I'm doin...lol

    love it

  • D-angelo and common...sexy over load!! his album is official..I just wanna have his kids LOL

  • this is cool, but i like the donuts version better...its more raw

  • you mean the shining

  • r.i.p J dilla.

  • The Donuts version has better vocal samples, too...it uses some from the original Isley Brothers song and a few other scattered ones. Real music.

  • It was more gritty and dirty aswell. I like this version a little bit better since its cleaner and sharper.

  • the beat is so much better in donuts

  • Is it me or is the Donuts version faster?

  • i prefer shining's version without a doubt cause da mix is a better way louder and deeper: the common's lp version is like you know to light...!

  • Hol up...people..DILLA HAS THE BEAT "SO FAR TO GO" ON THE DONUTS CD..HAS 1 WIT ON THE SHINING CD WIT COMMON{BEST ONE} AND ONE OF THE COMMON FINDING FOREVER CD...IN MY OPINION..COM FLOW ON DA LP VERSION WAS LACKLUSTERED BUT THE SHINING HIS THE BEST!!!!

  • I like the lyrics in The Shining version rather than on Finding Forever, it seems to flow better. D'Angelo's soulful voice makes the song though.

  • the version on Dilla's DONUTS is the best

  • actually its on the shining

i think the shining version of this song is better tho u get more of taht j dilla vibe u no wut im sayin? thats jus my opinion tho RIP dilla

  • the shining has a version also, but the version on Donuts is rawer...

  • wait so there is another one on donuts??

  • Yeah I like the Shining version better...It gave it a shuffle feel even though it wasn't a shuffle

  • it first appeared on donuts though

  • I agree, Common did a better job on the Shining version, the original instrumental "Bye." is on Donuts not the altered song that became "So Far to Go"

  • this shud be released as commons next single

  • i agree

  • Rest in Beats Jay Dee.

  • the original so far to go was better the one on the shining but im glad he put a diff version on the album as tribute

  • my new drug right here...addicted..

  • sexy than a mutha...

  • DILLA DILLA BEATS BEATS

  • A yo COMMON..U know sex is one of the most conscious things a people can do, once u put spirituality in the mix...Easy..Bless

  • Crazy beat from DILLA

  • yep

  • My 1 year old son's nickname is J Dilla. LOL, We all (my partnas and I) love Dilla and since his initials are JD, it was easy. RIP DILLA!

  • GOOD SONG!!!!!!

  • rip j dilla.

  • i prefer the opening verse on 'The Shining' version of so far to go. he kills it on that.

  • Thats real talk...this one is good but not as natural

  • agreed

i love the original version more

"what your mouth don't say baby your thighs do"

  • it seems like common looks a lil metrosexual in this album cover..

  • RUA homosexual who gives aphuck

  • the perfect combination of an awesome beat by jdilla (RIP) plus common's soulvoice...love this song

  • I agree 100% bruv. Them 2 dudes are so under-rated. You just cant knock them grooves man Peace...

  • Nice. The most soulful track on the album. When I put this on it chills me out like a prozac or something.

  • Yo, when I first heard this joint on Dilla's album I wuz like are u fuckin serious!!! Finally D'Angelo is beginning to resurface. Plus he did a track wit Common and Dilla, which I never even in my slightest imagination thought wuz a possibilty. D'Angelo's bout to come back people, I can feel it. Oh yea he did a track on Snoop's latest too. Common is the saviour of hip hop.

  • I can tell your new to the whole neo soul sound cause the Soul Aquarians is Dilla the Roots Common DAngelo Badu and QTip....so they've done plenty together check more credits thats not a diss by the way

  • Soul (A)quarians... thats pretty funny...

  • those who have good ears, you'll notice that "the shining" version has a little more grime to it, cause the "finding forever" version sound super-clean as hell... i think of any other album out this year better than this, the closest is sean price "jesus price superstar"

  • Both versions are butta!!!!! But if you are a hip hop head, you know The Return of the Magnificent is at the top as arguably the best hip hop album of 2007, KRS One and Marley Marl should be mentioned, also.

  • I agree wit the grime part ur sayin. Im glad its been cleaned up little tho

  • yeah... I'm glad someone else noticed that and I'm not just trippin. this is one of those songs you can listen to and it'll make you cry when you're happy or when you sad... beautiful

  • yeah i used to rock this song like crazy off of Dilla's album!!!!!!!!! Love this jam!! RIP J Dilla!! Common I'll be seeing u in Vegas in Sept.!!

  • THIS MY SHIT THO!

  • Awesome!

  • R.I.P. Dilla. your legacy lives on. i need to get "doughnuts."

  • one of my favorite songs. it's so soulful. RIP J. Dilla

  • Good Music

  • It's times like these that I wonder why it had to be Dilla to die over any other sleazy ass nobody rapper that does it for the money rather than the love. At least we're left with his music, and those who know him know that his impact on Hip Hop is so great that his legacy will soon be discovered as a man who wasn't appreciate until he was gone. Rest in Peace.

  • Well, if you want to look at it from a "glass half-full" perspective, at least Dilla's death brought the spotlight onto him, so now people respect him as the great producer he was.

  • that's good music
