"playing around"? I doubt that the author of these sonnets was playing around. This is bogus history, as there is NOTHING that connects the man from Stratford with the 3rd Earl of Southampton... Yet, this "expert" says Shakespeare's patron was none other than the Earl of Southampton. The fact of the matter is one can believe a money lender made these heart-felt poems up as a joke, or literary "exercise", or they are factual, based upon the life of Edward de Vere. I cast my lot with de Vere.
