  • Puoi immaginare quest'oratorio cantato nella chiesa di Sta. Maria in Vallicella (ortografia?) di Roma dove visse il grande S. Filippo Neri chi origino' l'idea dell'oratorio, se m'accordo bene. Molte grazie, civileso. Thank you so much.

  • Once again, ithe music is wonderful and the interpretation is extremely beautiful !! Thanks for posting.

  • its very interesting , who is the only idiot who didnt liked this masterpiece..:)

    Eternal beauty!

  • do you know what choir this is?

  • @Ceskinda If you check the video description you can see the singers. It is the singers listed here singing the choruses, not a separate choir.

  • I just listened to this I think 4 times in a row . . . I have to go to a class in a minute and I just don't to . . . hahaha . . . actually I'm going to choir where I'm bitter because we learn the Plorate and yet never performed it . . . XD

  • cette troisième partie est dramatique au possible un chef d'oeuvre pour les oreilles

  • This might as well be a completely authentic performance.

  • che incanto!Che musica assolutamente suggestiva, ricca di potere evocativo e richiami inconsci profondissimi!e c'è chi osa dire che l'uomo non abbia l'anima!

  • And add... LAMENTAMINI!!!

  • How sweet and wonderful!! 27 years ago i was in university and performed this piece; i was the Alto Historicus. Hehe, i never heard it as an audience would, only as a singer would. I am so moved, crying a little for the past. What a wonderful thing to catch it again!! Thanks so much....

  • omg! we just did this 4 eastern regionals!

    its so moving!

omg! it is just wow and when we did it it sounded...wow!

  • Love the effect produced by the theorbo accompanying the voice.

  • Très beau! Merci.

  • That final chorus is one of the most moving pieces of music ever written. Good interpretation, and the lament was exceptional.

  • You are right, it's one of the pieces of music I prefer absolutely. I remember the evening when I have listened first time on the radio, nearly 40 years ago. My life became more beautiful (I beg your pardon for my bad english, I'm italian)

  • Do we know who the instrumentalists are?

  • Yasunori Imamura, theorbo, and Martin Gester, organ. In the other parts, there's also Jean-Marie Quint, violone, Marion Fourquier, harp, and a harpsichord, probably played by Gester, but sometimes both can be heard at the same time (in the chorus starting at 1:16 in the first video, for instance), so... :-/

  • That's the best part. Wonderful interpretation.

  • Thank you!
