  • actually the whip isnt used to smack hit or make go faster. you actually need it to ask horses to bend or move away from the whip by touching their shoulders. or if you need impulsion you bounce it on there rump. you never whip them, otherwise you end up with a whip shy horse, never good when driving :)

  • wow that looks like hard work!

  • @prisonbreakobsessed yes it is hard work but that's what the horses are trained for, they are working animals and more than capable of the task, and before anyone asks no the whip is not cruel, it only gives a sting nothing more.

By the way i LOVE Mary Ruth Marks grey (3.45), what an absolute cutey, and so obviously honest and hard working.

  • @horsesport11 In all honesty I don't think it even stings. The whip is more or less a cue to the horse. They can probably only concentrate on a few things at a time so along with verbal signals the whip is used for control steering more than "go faster!" like in thoroughbred racing.

  • @Lugimoo Perhaps 'sting' is the wrong word :) but I think we are both on the 'same page'. I don't want anyone imagining the whip causes any pain, its as you say just a cue to the horse. And all these animals seem to be having great fun. What a super water obstacle.

  • @horsesport11 Yeah i just meant that even at its roughest that the horses don't feel any pain from it. its just like...someone tapping you on the shoulder to make you turn in that direction.

  • @Lugimoo yes you are so right. why do so many people see a whip and think the negative. They forget how much thicker a horses hide is to our skin. I've strated to learn side-saddle and your whole right leg is replaced by the cane as nothing more than a directional aid.

  • @Lugimoo This looks much harsher than that. The whip must hurt and cause pain.

  • burn in hell wheres my billy ray cyrus song

  • i wish i could afford the buggy and harness...I would love to be able to do driving comps..ohh well i guess i will have to stick to endurance... :)

  • for some reason this cracks me up :)

  • In all my years of riding, i've never heard of this sport. Pretty cool!

  • Excellent shows horses at their best.

  • Great video! Very profesional!!
