  • you navigated all those sharps with great skill and beauty. thanks!

  • This kid is going to turn into the future Lang Lang

  • Strange posture, strange head movements... Lang Lang would be proud.

  • Amazing technique for your age; although, there are several note errors throughout the piece. Starting from 2:42 until 2:46, all the left hand notes are incorrect.

  • Thank you for this remarkable playing, subbd.

  • remarkable control and restraint for one so young!

  • Mmmmm, nice work on the interrupted cadence at 3:40! Most performers just gloss over that one, I'm glad to see you gave it due emphasis.

  • When I was your age I was playing "I'm Called Little Buttercup" from My First Piano Book.

  • You must be a Bach expert!

  • i just realized that every asian male prodigy starts to open his mouth like he does :D

dont hat me for it, im just a jealous 17 year old boy who wishes to have this controll in both hands x'(

  • heyy :) Liked your interpretation, but just take note of a few minor mistakes:

    - the C double sharp mentioned above,

    - Bar 18 1st beat RH is an A# not a C#

    - Bar 18 LH 2nd last semiquaver is a D double sharp

But the rest of it was wonderful to listen to, well done :)

  • I'm not sure using so much pedal and playing in a legato style is correct for Bach, but you've obviously proven it's better than the detached style. I just wish RCM examiners would see that usling pedal for Bach is so much better.

  • That was absolutely amazing! I am currently learning this piece so it has been helpful to hear you play it. Thank you! :)

  • You play this masterfully young man. Bravo. I must watch for more of your Bach.

  • Great playing and wonderful technique Derek.

  • Splendid! Thank you! :)

  • Delightful! was my first impression. Fantastic! was my last impression.

  • Well Played

  • Don't listen to anyone who corrects your posture. You have far better things to be concerned with than posture-nazis. Jesus you are talented.

  • i don't like this kid, he plays too well.

  • Precise, clean, intelligent, and warm. Very nicely done, Derek!

  • YOU ARE A GREAT PIANIST!

  • Great Pianist..very Beautiful! :)

  • Very good, I would just be careful of leaning so close to the keys. Not only is it bad for posture, but it doesn't look good. Swaying slightly with the music is one thing, but you don't want to bang your forehead off the lid :L

  • nice, very fluent, flawless... unfortunately too fast (my humble opinion with which I'm very alone; most people just rush through this piece), otherwise very neat, crisp and clean.

  • kids got skillz :D

  • Derek, you prove there's hope for the human race: thank you for the beauty of your Bach.

  • Wish I will learn to play as well as you.

  • You make me think of Lang Lang. You really enjoy the music you play and that make's me enjoy listening to you.

  • This prelude and fugue is difficult to play. I also play it. And I can say that your performance is very, yery good. My compliments!!!

  • This is so beautiful

  • There is a similar one at bar 50 left hand part.

  • Great job, Derek. I enjoyed your playing very much.

Kindly be aware of the 1st note of the 4th crotchet beat at bar 13, it is still a C double sharp instead of C# if I'm not wrong. (1:56 in this video).

That will be even better if you speed up a little for the prelude.

  • @shengjosh You are idiot.

  • What an outstanding performance! It's now my favorite here on YouTube!

  • Very nice Bach!!

  • You should record Beethoven Sonata Op.10 No.3 in D Major 1st Movement! Will you??

  • Amazing sound, quality and playing! :)

  • Very nice! Thank you for posting this!

  • Very Good.Excellent dude.
