  • so when will ther be a revolution?? you saw what they did in middleast right? asia should do it too

  • I witnessed the protest/demonstration with my own eyes. it was moving yet sad.

  • They're executing people and the reporters wtf...

  • My hometown Yangon. :D

  • All the fear and repression and paranoia that I remember from a trip back to Burma in 1998 came back to me as I viewed this. It's an mportant film. See it.

  • goosebumps!

  • I think that this, this movie, this reporters, this courage, it's what you see and you say : And what about freedom? Because this is a massacre, this is what the internation tribune call:" crime againts humanity". And when i saw it, i thought :" When i learnd about the regime of URSS, Staline etc. and about he 2nd World War, nazis, jews etc. i didnt realized what it was a "regime totalitaire" and that this could be happening now, today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow" Now, i know it.

  • These reporters are truly amazing....they risked their lives to tell the world what was really happening out there :(

  • If you've seen Burma VJ, I must highly recommend The Green Wave.

  • You can find it on Chillipaprika . com

They have this kind of stuff.

  • so current.

  • Does anybody know what happened to the reporter that fled to Thailand?

  • @moneyboy597 He escaped to norway, and continues his freedom work from there. <3 Aung San Suu Kyi

  • @Chubacheeba Oh wow that's awesome!! Is there a website or something that he's running?

  • @patrioismisevil I don't know much about the united states. However, since passed, US presidents and law have protected christinity.

  • Sometimes, we just forget to take time off from life and smell the air. It's not singed by fire, there is no residue from spent shells, there is no stench of death. We really don't know how lucky we are, despite the inadequacies of our governments, until we look upon these people. While we complain about the quality of our water, the rising taxes and all, these people are wondering where they will wake up in the morn.

    Free Burma!

    NO MORE VIOLENCE!

  • free burma

  • one of the best documentaries I've EVER seen, sometimes it sucks here in the U.S. but these kids are doing something that I couldn't dream of. I commend the young aware generation over there, I hope for the best.

  • the burmese has to live under perpetual fear and constant threat that they cud trust nobody -NOBODY AT ALL- to even have a daily conversation. cos anybd cud be a government's right hand men. talk falsely of the juntas, prison is the answer. n endless tortures await.

please raise more awareness of burma vj- share this video n like em. dont forget that more awareness means a glint of hope for the burmese to get their lifelong wish of democracy.

  • jimmyformermarine... is that British or U.S The same armies that these people helped defeat the Japanese with false promises. The promise of a Free Karen State.

These people are still persecuted today because of YOUR war..Now if you ha nothing decent to say.. I suggest you go back to the Marines and play soldiers

  • I cried when i saw this, this made me feel sorry for them.

I'm working in a Co-orporation with a lot of other Danish students to help the students, and people in Burma to get an education.

You can't control a person who knows how to use his own mind.

so Free Burma from the militia!

  • Is the full movie up on Youtube?

  • @jonascheah Yes it is :)

  • i've seen the movie on hbo so sad indeed and also so inspirational. help burma and the knu against the burmese army

  • One of the most important things people can do to dismantle the lies that legitimise violence is to report them like those courageous reporters whose video excerpts we can witness here.I fully support this work and put all my wishes into it,so that this may help to Free Burma from a stupidity that causes violence against the People and sentient beings of Burma.May those who raise weapons be free from ignorance, hatred and greed...pride and jealousy.May they be free from being loserminds.

  • Great work!! Great upload.. keep it up freedom and peace to all!!!!!!

  • So sad!!!!!

  • Send in Rambo!!! =)

  • Its like Hitler all over again!

  • free burma

    LOve karens

  • Filthy Muslim Brack Hussein Obama did nothing to help these people because they are Buddists.

  • @JimmyFormerMarine are you stupid? Obama is Christian. Besides, BUSH was in office at this time, not Obama. furthermore, religious disunity has very little to do with why the USA didn't help. The economic cost of the US interfering was greater than the gains they would have received from trade with Myanmar, and with the added context of the financial crisis and the upcoming election, the republican party was more concerned with serving the economic interests of US citizens.

    EDUCATE YOURSELF!

  • @xooxanna Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya. Everyone knows it. Why are you defending him? Oh, I see you hate Bush. That explains everything.

  • @JimmyFormerMarine Obama was born in Hawaii! He is a Christian by conscious decision. Get your facts straight. Your ignorance astounds me.

  • @xooxanna Don't believe the liberal media. They are all supporters of Obama. Obama's middle name comes was the mass murderer Saddam Hussein, probably a good friend of your's. Thank God they hanged the son of a bitch.

  • @JimmyFormerMarine your such a fucking troll. Get the fuck outta here. This video is about burma and its people. Your to strung up on political partys and forget about moral judgment and right and wrong. Its pathetic how brain washed you are that you have to go around and spread your bullshit you have no actual proof on. But here is a video that is providing proof of horrors and you dont argue for their cause. You just talk shit on a subject that doesnt matter, except in the mind of you.

  • @JimmyFormerMarine

    Hi!

If you are interested in history, maybe you know that the United States supported Saddam throughout his worst atrocities in the 80s. Both reagan and Bush Senior did.

And today the US supports the brutals dictatorships of Egypt and Saudi Arabia (far worse than the Saddam regime).

    Peace

  • Where is Obama? Why doesn't he help the Burmese? Where is the "hope" for these people?

  • More proof the governments of the world are conspiring against the human race. The United States and other nations from the UN could do something to stop this totalitarianism but they choose not to. It's because they don't want us to know or care. Just like Rwanda. Just like Darfur.

  • @3hh31 Burmans peoples do not believe in democracy? Burmanization? WoW.

  • so Y can't Burma-Amaricans help their own people there? Y can't people help themselves?

  • @Semechki hahahaha... youre an idiot...

  • This is so weird... Im 16 years old, i Get education easily, i Play on my computer each day, i have fun with friends, im Norwegian, theres a totally different world down in Burma. While here in norway its normal to have an iPod/iPhone... Or any other high technology touch-cellphones. Theres Even a whole different language on the Internett, like saying : lol, omg and so on... IT'S SO WEIRD!!!!!!

  • @Teyminatoy you sound like my mom...

  • @Razzjackaz lol

  • Burma is a country full of chauvinism of Burmese (Burmans). The 68% of the country polulation Burmese (also Burmans) have enjoyed their dominance policy over other union national founding ethnic groups after Newin seized the power and liquidated 1947 Panglong Agreement which is backbone for these nationals freedom.

  • Ethnic nationals from Frontier Area were denied of many previlledges and human rights, they can't have high posts / ranks in government office and military, often faced rejection in social livelihood because they are the minority and because do not share same culture with the Burmese.

  • The constitution and laws of the country is made in such a way that it only upholds the interests of the dominant Burmans. These really ticked off the ethinic nationalities and felt they were all the way left out when realizing they are betrayed by the Burmans who (by Aung San) tried to convince other ethinic groups that their future with fair and freedom would be guaranteed by founding a union country.

  • Unfortunately, the dreams of Frontier Area nations were recklessly diminished by some of Burman ultranationalists from communist party by assassinating Aung San and other ministers. Thereafter, Burman policy of ultra-nationalism has been succeeding its selfish ways of governing the peoples by means of high ranking Burman officials in government for almost 50 years since independence.

  • The majority of the ruling Burmans in administering offices have no idea and never understood about the essence and sincere meaning of Panglong Agreement and founding Union based on its genuine willing to participate in the union as individual founding nations pertaining full right of execution of laws and orders in their own states, thus promising the right of cessation from Union after 10 years was guaranteed in the 1947 Constitution.

  • At this point, there are two types of national democratic movements in Myanmar. One is by Burmans who see the current military dictators no better than Newin’s government thus fighting to achieve democratic government. Second is a movement by Frontier nations who want to regain their freedom and independence by democratic means. The first and second is not the same. This fact has been diligently neglected and closed one eye by UN and other Burma supporting countries.

  • Watched it yesterday.

Couldn't believe, that this really is on the same planet!

    It happens now! It's unbelievable.

I startet du shiver, when all those people on the houses, in their windows where screaming "Our cause our cause!" So many people...

    FREE BURMA!

  • @VerwirrungInPerson

Perhaps you aren't aware of the extent to which the American police state is growing. Visit web sites like injusticeeverywhere.c and copblock.o. There is a steady stream of reports of police abusing and arresting people for photographing them in the performance of their duties.

    It can happen here.

  • @VerwirrungInPerson

You apparently aren't aware of the extent to to which the American police state is growing. You can search for web sites like injustice everywhere and copblock to see what's happening. There is a steady stream of reports of police abusing and arresting Americans for recording them in the performance of their duties.

  • Invading Burma could cause a war... N. Korea would not be happy at all since they have ties with Burma.

So yeah, invasion is not an option. Maybe a coup d'etat?

  • @eatmmyshorts America can't just walk in and kill military leaders in Burma. What's happening in Iraq and Afghanistan is already enough. America can't afford to invade another country because then they would be labeled as aggressive and imperialistic.

  • I'm a fan of documentary films and have been watching them since the film "Mark Twain" released in 2001. Yet this film is the most powerful documentary I have ever experienced. The editing and directing is so well done, it it convinces me that Burma needs a radical change. FREE BURMA. OUR CAUSE!

  • History is an ironic story when we choose not to learn from it.... Government power ends poorly for the people.

    Burma will prevail.

  • A brilliant documentary. Amazing courage. Must be seen by all.

  • such a good movie, made me cry.

  • This is currently airing on HBO in America, and you can watch it on OnDemand.

  • just saw this.. great documentary

I support freedom the protesters in Burma.

    - Washington D.C.

  • The unity of the burmese people still very much rests within the myth of the 40, so who better than Aung San Suu Kyi (bogyoke's oxford educated grand-daughter) to lead the way?

  • Support Burma and their quest for Freedom, we are all ONE

  • Thank you for uploading this trailer.

It's high time I watch the documentary.

  • i find this really amazing. but dolphin show won over this at the oscars. hmmm.

  • If it was in the West's (US) interest to "help" Burma, they would have long time ago. But Burma obviously doesn't have anything the US wants or needs...so it is forgotten in indifference.

  • one of the best documentaries i've ever seen along with The Cove. ppl who have seen this one should also see the cove.

  • It is clear that China, Indian, Thai leaders,... (and some business people) like to keep Burma as a dictatorship because they can make lots of money from cheap labour and goods. Some humans are sociopaths. The Burmese leaders are.

  • i do not think so.Burma now expecting Free Trade in China-ASEAN to develop their own country.

Democracy is just political movement, not economy movement

Burma need to work on their country system.now their system is every direction,Not staple.

both government and Civilian are doing their own decision.if Burma Change to democracy country, they have to deal with China. Same as usual. never change.

Burma need to fix their system, doesn't mean have 2 be democracy.if not, country will never success

  • That is very convenient to say if you are Chinese, Thai, or Indian, who are stealing cheap resources and using cheap labour (if not cheap wives). Some humans are treated like animals, but who is the animal?

  • don't Blame other ppl. they don't look Burmese PPL as Cheap Labor.Burma is really Poor. that's why burmese people look for job outside Country. Not only China, Thailand, even U.S. U.K. Japan. everywhere is the same. Burma need to work on their own people, So other country will respect. Example, Japan. Please, don't blame other country because they look for Burmese people as Cheap labor.if Burma can't deal these problem, there will be no Democracy good for them. I hope that help

  • Burmese cannot deal with the issue because the Chinese/Thai/Indian,... is probably paying the Burmese despots to control their people so they can be exploited by China, Thailand, INdian,...

  • listen. here is my theory. if Burmese is Strong country and Unique, HOw other country can pay for what ever you said for Cheap labor. think about that. ok? Look at East side of Burma. Do you know Shan minority? they are fighting with Burmese Government for independent. Civil war is still going on.How they going to develop their country. There is no deal BTW ppl and

Government. Look at Vietnam. Peaceful country and unique. Burma can't handle their own people.

  • I don't have theories, I have facts. I am reading at this time a PhD thesis on Burma living silence in Burma by Christina Fink. It is true that different ethnicities (Karens, Shan,...) have wanted to secede for a long time. The right thing would be to let them do it, but, hey, who cares about people's demands! The book is 300 pages long. I fear 300 characters won't do the country's justice. It is really complex.

  • well, Cheap labor is everywhre, even in California history. People in burma want the democracy is such a nut. Aung Sunn Su Kyi got Noble Prize, pay by British is a big bomb for People. All these Shan and Karen in the past had their own regions. after WW2 British let them to be one Nation. Stupid British. Well, You have your homework.

  • True about cheap labour being everywhere and in the USA, amongst others. But, between living in Burma or in the USA as a cheap labour, I would choose the USA. India is close to Burma, but there are many countries that exploit their citizens. Living in a despotic state makes matter even worse and that there is not doubt about that. Shame on the people who exploit others, the leaders in Burma and China, India, and Thailand included.

  • huh.. You sound like giving hatred to all Asian. What's up with you man? Look Stupid British history, they don't treat people as human. you know that right?look at American, the most racist nation ever on Earth. When China was control by Mao, Western and American were making joke to China. Now, China is growing, they keep Blaming on China whatever they want.China growing is not like WEstern n American, differently,if burma want to change demcracy is easy, but Burma don't some reason.find out why?

  • huh ... I stated that the USA is not a model to emulate too! Colonial powers of the past are largely responsible for most issues around the world as people were divided or pulled together to fit peace treaties,... But, local tyrants were no angels. All cultures have sociopaths. All cultures have flaws. Asians are evasive. Some Caucasian cultures are too blunt! Patriotism exacerbates those traits, unfortunately!

  • yea.. sorry dude. my English is bad. i know what you mean now. just misunderstand.

    Peace

  • Thank You!. This is the first time i've seen comments with actual intelligence behind them. Not just ignorant flame wars. I do believe that dramatic is necessary but its never possible. There are too many people with their hands in each others pockets that have to much power to allow for change. I'm very naive about Burma. Not ignorantly so, just enough to only know about their lack of civil rights. I think this documentary will open my eyes to the atrocities of their situation.

  • its sad that America speaks of supporting democratic freedome nomatter wat when America has done nothing even with the substanital evidnc that this cuntrys civilians are diein of starvation and povertyWe as america need to show that we care about the world and gain the love of the world like in the 50-80sWe need to shw the wrld we still careGod knows we have the militry funds to make a qick 9 mnth campain through Burma and dethrone der Military Dictatiorship

  • Sadly, we cannot do anything about it. The whole world will shun America if we did invade Burma because we thought it was wrong what the Generals were doing to their own people. And, even if i really do want to have Burma free from their Generals, there is nothing we can do.

All in all, the Burmese people deserve better, but as of now, it is a God forsaken shit hole.

  • @KlaykidReal - Don't open your mouth about things you know nothing about

  • @crock703 Then why are you talking? Hypocrite.

  • @pjcd1961

Hello...I just want to share some points here. "Different ethnicities" you mentioned are called Shan, Chin, Kachin, Karen, Rakhine etc. I supposed you have understood that what Burma is made of. These areas are called Frontier area collectively since under British colony. Now, what the world need to do is to free all these ethnic nations from the Burma Proper or Bamaland. There will be no peace as long as the Bamarland colonizes the Frontier nations.

  • you're right....but like seriously man... how cruel can you be (burmese government). What are these larger governments suppose to do? Still people dead in the end... Indians helped burma...they gave them buddhism.

  • Indian helped Burma by giving them Budhism? You must be kidding! Budhism and the belief of an afterlife/eternal life are were invented to make poor people believe that they deserved their poverty and make them hope that by kissing ass they could who-knows-when a better life. Convenient for the wealthy and the exploiters!

  • ahhh wtf you might be right...religion needs a 2.0 update... comes down to moral.... this shit is wack.

  • WHY DID THIS DIDN'T WIN?!

  • *sigh*... I visited Burma in the past to see my relatives over there (I am part Burmese), and I had never noticed all this bad stuff happening (I was a young,2004).

Burma is a great place to go visit when everything is peaceful.

What I think the reason America is not helping : Burma is not really known that well in America. Most Americans really only support reliefs that celebs are supporting, Example : Haiti.

Really hope this documentary wins, but truth is, will it?...

  • @YappityXD They don't help because of China, same as with Tibet. EOD.

  • ...HR 898 calls for the release of all prisoners of conscience, and an end to widespread and systematic human rights violations in Burma. Riding on the prestige of this film especially, you CAN make a difference.

    (post 2 of 2)

  • I was crying when I watch it, why is our burmese peoples suffering too much because of the bad leder.

  • Muang you are full of shit.

The bloody generals are criminals who are stealing the wealth of Burma and living obscenely rich lives while the rest of the country is near starvation.

The US did not help with the protests, but we SHOULD arm the Karan resistance fighters and invade the country w/ special forces: kill the generals and install Aung San su-Kyii as the rightful elected leader!

  • [ to anonomouschicken ].. Buddhist Monks were not rioting.. they were just praying peacefully in order for Burmese people to live prosperously & peacefully..

  • There is so much injustice in the world... smh.

  • Free Burma and hope that this video realy does make it an oscar!!!!!!

  • Im very confused? If anybody can clarify why the Buddhist monks are rieting please tell me??????

  • they want the government to improve people's quality of life

  • Burma is ruled by a military dictatorship. It's democratically-elected leader has been imprisoned for almost 1/4 of her life. Minorities are persecuted, women are raped, civilians are killed, homes are burned, and lives are destroyed on a regular basis by the military's ongoing campaign against its own people.

That's what the monks were (peacefully) protesting.

  • FREE BURMA!

  • 2010 down with Than Shwe.....drag him down to the deepest part of the HELL!

  • dude y ya supporting dat motherfucker u call senior general. DID DAT MOTHERFCUKER FUCK UR MOTHER SIDE WAY OR SOMETHIN!!!!!

  • Oscar nominated!

  • I can't bear my tears...

  • @isoko18

    So sad.

Tears come out from my eyes, too.

We need real help not just sympathy from UN & the powerful countries.

Why CHINA is against our citizens?

How could a Buddhist country like China stand this inhumanity manner to the Buddhist monks?

Even they do the good things relating to policy, "Monks are Monks!".

  • @mhdaywee China is not a Buddhist country. They're communist, no religion.

  • @greedydijkstra Indeed, China is not a Buddhist country. That's like saying the United States is a Christian country.

  • @1:05

  • I saw this movie last July...so powerful and inspiring.

Support the movement for a Free Burma!

The fight of the monks aren't finished yet!

  • @pilipinasmabuhay100 I'm with you brother!

  • FUCK THEM AND THEIR LAWS

  • YES YE S Y ES!

  • What the military in Burma is doing is wrong!!! How can they think that this is the FUTURE for their children and grand children??

The Military dictators are unintelligent and stupid. If you hold down a hole society in the mud for a long time, you're only creating problems for yourself and your family in the future.

The people who fought your will be remembered as heroes and you will be remembered as evil.

Your children will ask themselves: Why did my father, grandfather do this, why!

  • I dont think the tyrants care that they will be remembered as evil thats the problem. You have to remember that these people who oppress so many dont care what other people and nations think of them. They are terrible people who dont deserve to be called humans

  • Thank you very much alot Burma VJ group

I hope your are very will

  • Govt's wont do this for the world...people need to untie themselves and march into burma,,,let's ride the world of these vermine, how long will good men tolerate it....I'll Be there with whoever agrees and is willnig to actually do something about it.

  • thanks for the Movie.

  • This movie was amazing...watched it during the Saffron Premiere in the Irish Film Institute in Dublin...

  • DAMN! Hope the US government...and the world...are aware of this and prepared to condemn the Burma military rule!! They are no different than the North Koreans or Iranians.

  • savE poor BURMESE who have never had liberty and freedom.

    save aung san suu kyi.

please, kill than shwe.( bitch ), please stop murders, rapes, prostitution, oppression, unfairness, and badness.

    that's what people say.

but,,,,you have to unite your people before you said these .

    memorize that, ok?

  • please...save burma now

    you can help

  • people power.

  • This looks amazing.

  • I must see this and the world must see this. I am speechless.

  • oohh my god !!! i am speechless. its so terrible and i feel bad that i couldnt do anything for them but just watch. ;( ;( ;(

  • you can tell more people about this. and find out what your government's investments in burma are. or private companies in your country. and ask them why are they supporting this brutal regime.

  • I saw this at the Sundance Film Festival and it was amazing. Extremely well done with intense footage that will leave its impact on you.

  • watch the movie "End of America" Documentary

  • Those generals are sick...

  • Kill Than Shwe and his family then his relative then the rest of army generals and their family.

They are not Buddhist. If they were buddhist they would not kill the monks.

    Do somethings.

  • have not heard anything about BURMA.

  • I saw this at SXSW and it was incredible and very powerful. Everyone should watch this if they get a chance.

  • But people were loose..Fuck Junta!

  • These people need arms. Put some teeth behind those lips.

  • These journalists risk their lives to show footage of a suppressed country under a cruel regime, the least everyone can do is watch.

  • Welcome to the power of digital journalism... can't wait to see the full feature.

  • Watched it today at a documentaries festival here in São Paulo. It's great.

  • Hello. I read your comment. Could you please tell me what they are saying since the translation is wrong? I am very interested in knowing the truth about this video. What is wrong with the "VJ"?

    Thank you for your time.

    Martin

  • @myoutlee as a burmese, I know exactly what the video journalists are saying. if you think the translations is totally wrong, why don't you tell me what they're saying?

  • respect

  • Just saw this movie last night at FCCT, it is really good field filming from inside the safron revolution. After watching it, we still wonder why no governments are taking serious action to stop the military brutal regime in Burma !

  • can't find anywhere to watch this...

  • great movie, a must see

  • came across an article about this film on TIME, does anyone know where i can watch it? are there any DVD/VCDs on sale?
