WHAT A BAD ASS SONG!! fUCK RAP AND HIP HOP MUSIC. Rap and hip hop are destroying the minds of the new generations growing in our country. That type of music just sucks period, its not refined in any sense. Granted it is lyrics in rhyme and rhythm, but, regardless, it is terrible music. It's not overall very popular in the rest of the modern world. Rock, blues, and jazz will always be loved and respected forever.
Everyone should have this and a turntable and all of Zeps LPs. Vinyl is back. Search and you will find. Peace! Cool vids dude. I'm gonna subscribe. Why? Just because you're like me and you love vinyl. Plus yes Zeppelin (WMG faggots). Nice.
how much would you offer for that? I own all LP's by Led Zeppelin and even a couple of underground ones done in Britain, I believe. My record collection happens to be in OK with my brother. I live in CA. But if the offer is right, I will consider making your wish come true. You'll have to buy your own record player, though; mine went by the wayside years ago.
@38828601manu Oh, that is too bad. You are definitely too far away to make this happen. But you can keep wishing. Perhaps someone closer will respond to you.
Don't worry, man...it sounds the same way on my old LP. Which is where I really got to know LZ. I just put it on one day from a bunch of LPs. And it stood OUT. IT JUST ROCKED! That was 20 years ago. I thought it was a crap record someone was trying to get rid of. Little did I know.
Phys Graf is my favorite album of all time, one reason is because it is mega sized Zeppelin, with different moods and styles all over it, it is, in my meager opinion their crowning acheivement . Also note
boogie w/ stu (Ian Stewart) is a Richie Valens tune- "ooh my head."
Rivedell, Lothlorien, Mirkwood, Frodo's House, the Inn at Bree, Tom Bombadil's House Weathertop, Mines of Moria, Goblin Town, Trolls House, Stoors Village, The Big Bear Dude Guys House, The two Statues place, Lothian, All The Places in the Silmarilion, Orthanac, Entwood Entwiveswood Entwives are Dryads Dryads are fairies in trees and The OldMan Oak , Tom Bombadil and Goldberry protected the entwives but treebeard changed enough inside to see is his wife again once he listened to Merry and Pippen
Hey everyone, I know that the song "Houses Of The Holy" is probably not available anywhere else on here because the rediculous copyright for WMG. So i'm sorry for the audio from the audio on my camera.
@dissent88 When I posted my Zeppelin Vinyl on youtube it got taken off, but I was able to get it working. Same with other WMG vinyl I have posted. Thanks for the vid man. I subscribed.
Except for the fact that the song WAS recorded in 1972 for the "House of the Holy" sessions, and NOT after the album! As a rock purist, I want to know what caused them to leave off the title cut? Heroin? Cocaine?
The song does have the same "party vibe" of that album, would have fit in so well with "Dancin Days" and "The Ocean". "Physical Graffiti" was FAR more serious, that's why if any song should have been left on the cutting floor for the next album, it should have been "No Quarter".
"As a rock purist, I want to know what caused them to leave off the title cut? "
They thought it sounded too similar to Dancing Days so they saved it for this album. Yeah, Physical Graffiti sounded more "serious" as you put it but it doesn't hurt to throw a more upbeat song into the mix. It leads into Trampled Underfoot nicely I think.
That's exactly what I thought, too (that they sound alike), but if they had to choose between the two songs to go on the next album, why not "Dancing Days" go on "Physical Graffiti" instead of "Houses of the Holy". Wouldn't it make more sense to have the song of the same name as the album, go on that album? Unless they were taking their cue from The Doors, who did the same thing with "Waiting for the Sun" going on a different album from "Waiting for the Sun".
Yeah. I don't know. Maybe they thought Dancing Days was better so they kept it on the H.O.T.H. album. Since Physical Graffiti was a double album they thought,"This is cool now. It's a double album. Throw it on here!"
Not having the song on the album gives Zeppelin that offbeat mystical quality the Doors also had as if the albums and songs float about in their own universe. Physical Graffiti wouldn't be the album it was without these strong songs. Still LZ IV and Houses would have been incredibly strengthened if Rover, Houses, Trampled, Nightflight, and Ten Years Gone had been on them. The others like boogie with stu could have been B-sides.
Also.. at the time 45 minutes was the max time for an LP with a lot of "hot" cuts on it. You wouldn't have wanted to stuff more songs on the album as the volume and bandwidth would have gone down too much for it to sound good. Too bad though.. but for the leftover cuts.. Zep only did 3 albums from 1974 to 1979. The unfortunate tragedies that befell Plant and Page & Bonham's use issues crippled the band. What might have been. I wish Physical had been a single album so the next ones were better
You know I was reading a website saying that Led Zeppelin was straight out of hell and that "Houses of the Holy" was a satanic song what a bunch of bs
What kind of "massive brain fart" does a band have to have to leave the "TITLE CUT" off the album, and put it on the NEXT album? And it's happened more than once in rock history ("Waiting for the Sun" got left off the Doors' album of the same name, and put on the next album, "The Soft Parade")
What was Led Zeppelin's excuse? It sounded too much like "Dancin' Days"? Why not trade "No Quarter" for "House of the Holy" and make one album ALL fun and the next one ALL art?
That makes no sense. The only reason I could think that a record company would tell a band to leave a song off the album and save it for the next one is if there's not enough room for it on that one. And even then, it should be up to the band what song to leave off there, and no record company in their right mind would think of leaving the 'title cut" off--that's the record's theme song, and it's biggest selling point!
Physical Graffiti is my favorite album from Zeppelin. It seems as if that in their previous records, they were trying a lot to find their style and groove, but it took until PG to find it. By then they knew who they were as a band, let loose, and made the music that they wanted to make.
Unfortunately by the time Physical Graffiti came out in 1975, the band only had two more major tours (U.S. 1975 and 1977) and this song didn't make the set list either time.
It sucks because I would love to hear a live version but when your a band like Zeppelin with so much great material, you can only play so many songs in a three-hour show. This song and When the Levee Breaks are to I'd love to hear live when they were at their rocking best
its amazing that Zeppelin could come up with SO much good stuff. even thier worst album (in through the out door) could have been thier best if another band did it. nothing they came out with was bad or even average. only a handfull of other bands can do that.
Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy, Physical Grafitti...there hasn't been a three consecutive album run to match that kind of greatness and I'm confident there never will be
I like this song and this video, but I have to say I think the sound quality of CD"s and digital music is much better than vinyl. I have a lot of vinyl and still play it. It gets scratched.

the ocean
are NOT party vibe songs.
my guess is that they probably couldnt find a new name for the album.

I suppose, if only to be "contrarion" toward what people conventionally expect!

Waiting for the Sun was released on Morrison Hotel, not the Soft Parade
pamolsch 2 years ago
Thanks for the correction, but the point still remains: WHY is the TITLE CUT to an album not on the lp it should be intended for?
If nothing else, that's "false advertising", and fools music buyers into buying an album they think the song with the same name would be on.
