Curiously, I've noticed that her 'big paw' technique is quite similar to Bruno Leonardo Gelber's and Anna-Marie Globenski's, one of my teachers at University. And they all had Bruno Seidhofer for teacher in Vienna. I wish I could hear something by this Master someday...
the orchestra and piano are incredibly out of sync at time. i don't know whose fault this is, but for sure there is a disconnect there. definitely one of the possible reasons she is feeling peeved.
this should be fastest version,, i mean starting from 7:20, i think faster than, you should see this video and see why martha argerich is best in the wolrd, that video
i read in a review that martha was not happy about the NHK orchestra that was accompanying her. don't remember exactly why but she wasn't impressed. that could have something to do with it
@ghawk2005 The orchestra sounded slightly out of tempo. Maybe for us it's irrelevand and we have to listen carefully to notice that, but for someone like Argerich who's been playing this for years, that's not acceptable and I'm sure that annoyed her.
This is extraordinary play but she doesn't seem to be happy. Just before the beginning of this movement, she said to the conductor Dutoit that "It doesn't work at all, i don't know why, huh?" But BRAVA Martha, your play was unbelievable like always.
Damn, she seems pissed at the end of this, like she just wants to get off stage. I don't think she was too happy about something, maybe the conductor. She makes that awful face at 9:30 as well!
@Sinneo91 That face is gorgeous! What I read into that was that she didn't feel happy with her performance, but is acknowledging and showing gratitude for the support and warm reaction given by the audience...
She seems to be saying "ça ne va pas du tout, je ne sais pas pourquoi" (french). In English: "it's not fine at all, I don't know why". So apparently she's not satisfied!
wow, you're right, great lip reading skills! She does seem a little distant in this performance. But of course that's only natural, you can't be always inspired.
this is less subtle a version than her usual recordings.
