What a dick. I totally agree with adamgreen222 below me, he should've pulled off the track as soon as possible with all that smoke. Instead of continuing to drive on the track and possibly leak fluids across the entire racing line, I mean pull into the grass for christ sakes. if there's that much smoke coming from behind you you have bigger problems to worry about then finding a "suitable" place for you to pull your car off.

The driver briefing before a track day includes the "common sense" to stop and get off the racing surface immediately upon any sign of mechanical trouble. Turn it off, stay in the vehicle, look at the nearest safety worker and follow instructions.

Never try to drive back to the pits, never try to re-enter the track once you've driven off the track and never, ever, wander along with your indicator flashing while the car drops all on the racing line and through the apex ... you will kill someone.

It's the earlier model Lotus, I believe was the Rover engine......... which was underpowered anyways, the owner could now update his old elise with the new Toyota engine found in later models Elise which has more power and more reliable.

A slower car (driver) is expected to yield the corner. The Punto driver clearly did that.

Even with equal cars this overtake would have been good and the one that was overtaken would have had to have yielded.

What one can't do is lunge beside another car at the very last minute and expect them to be able to avoid collision.
