@joshacousticmusic Hi there Josh, glad you liked the Lon Chaney inclsion (though I don't know whether you are referring to Chaney Snr or Chaney Jnr). Either way, horror icon compilation would be complete without either of them, especially Lon Snr, who was such a master of disguise, putting himself through all manner of physical discomfort to achieve the look he wanted! Glad you liked it :)
Hi, the character at 2:24 is The Golem - from a German horror film of the same name, of 1920. The Golem is a giant creature made of clay and brought to life by a rabbi in th sixteenth century to protect the Jews of Pargue from persecution. There isn't a 4:42 lol!!
Hey well done Kaijinu - you sure know your stuff: 22 is Vincent Price as The Abominable Dr Phibes; 24 is Peter Cushing as Baron Frankenstein from the Hammer movies; 27 is John Barrymore in the silent version of Jekyll and Hyde and 30 is, in fact, Lon Chaney Snr as the Hunchback of Notre Dame - another silent classic. I'll have to do another one of these! :)
'Hammer' was a British film company that turned out scores of Gothic horror movies from the late 50s to early 70s. They may seem tame now, but initially had a huge impact, being colour and much more graphic than the old Universal films of Karloff and Lugosi, etc. By the early 70s however, they had been superseded by a new hardcore brand of horror movies such as The Exorcist, TCM, etc. Well worth seeking some of the old Hammers out though - v atmosphric and some good actors, esp Lee and Cushing
hmm, despite being a gore monkey, I'm also a goth sophisticate (I take the difference between goths and emos seriously...I mean it, we are not emo! we're just goth! DX)
so yeah, thanks a bunch, stephen! X) for this game and for the films~!
Ooo, I love horror movies! I'll give this a try: 1. Leprechaun 2.Chucky 3. Sadako or Samara (don't know which) 4. Jason Voorhees 5. Freddy Krueger 6. Regan/Pazuzu (from the exorcist) 7. Michael Meyers 8. Candyman 9. Leatherface 10. Pluto
Hey well done Kukapetal!; the ones you didn't get are: 21. Bub the zombie (Day of the Dead); 22) Vincent Price as Dr Phibes; 24) Peter Cushing as Baron Frankenstein; 26) Carrie; 27) John Barrymore as Mr Hyde 29); The Golem 30) Lon Chaney Snr as The Hunchback of Notre Dame :)
That is Christopher Lee as Count Dracula, and I believe that this particular still comes from the third film in the series, 'Dracula Has Risen From The Grave'!
Thanks - just checked out your page and can see that you are WELL into the genre, will browse through your favourites and no doubt enjoy! Always good to meet fellow horror freaks, and I too love the classics, Messrs Chaney, Karloff, Lugosi, Lee, Price et al!
Ah, seems that you haven't watched Puppet Master (1989) or any of its sequels. Before Ghostface is Blade, and after Hannibal is Tunneler - both from the series. Guy in red smoking jacket is Peter Cushing who played Baron Frankenstein in the Hammer series.
PS - never did know where u got this version of 'Tubular Bells' from, but don't u think its kinda spooky how the scream fits with the 'scream face' at 1.02 and then the grunts with Karloff's monster at 1.16??!!. Wicked! x
LOL, yeah. I didn't even know I'd done that, until after it was finished or the last picture I fitted it with. Haha. Yeah, I finished it, but it has been having problems with me, maybe I'd be able to send it to your e-mail and you could upload it? You'd have to find the pics/vids I used, though. :)
Cheers. Michael Berryman is such an icon of the genre, I'm surprised he doesn't appear on more tributes. More recently, of course, he appeared in The Devil's Rejects by Rob Zombie.
Yes, there are very few exceptions in the genre. Bride of Frankenstein is noted for surpassing its originating predecessor, but after thatthe series got weaker and weaker - finally finishing by bringing in Abbot and Costello!
Leprechaun (1993); Leprechaun 2 (1994); Leprechaun 3 (1995); Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997); Leprechaun in the Hood (2000) and Leprechaun: back 2 tha Hood (2003)
The Leprechaun is my favourite horror film killer !! He visciously despatches of anyone who tries to steal his pot of gold or who laughs at him! He has appeared in six films now. Check it out! - played by Warwick Davis
BTW Hannah (though it may be more by accident than design) I like the way the pic of Ghostface from the Scream movies is accompanied by a sream at 1:01 and also how Boris Karloff's Frankenstein monster appears with groans in the background! - very good. Where did you find that version of Tubular Bells from? (Theme tune to The Exorcist of course!) x
Jason Vorhees really kicks ass, but you know, if I had to pick an ally, it would probably be that little leprechaun - he has the edge with his magical powers - not that I'd trust the little bugger! lol
