His character in this movie is very poignant and even as years passed after the trilogy of these films have been released, I still remember his role the most. ...what kind of vikings are you used to seeing? Do you expect them to wear helmets with two horns on them? Those vikings never existed. But lots of things about Boromir resembles a viking. The shield he carries, his fighting style, his long hair and beard, his blowhorn, his temper.

See? There's plenty of viking stuff even about the Sean Bean portration of Boromir. He just doesn't look like the stereotypical brute viking with horns on helmet. But he does have features that are commonly applies to vikings.
