  • I love this even with the background noise! It's a real performance.

  • Stunningly beautiful. Good work, and even more wonderful, considering the age of the singers. Thank you to all of you for a moving listening experience.

  • I am in this video, when I was a senior, as a tenor I. I joined choir my senior year, and this moment was one the most memorable times in my life. I will never forget it, the feeling immediately after we stopped singing, the sounds still floating in the air.

  • Absolutely incredible performance! Especially impressive considering the young voices. I love the conductor's interpretation of the piece.

  • i had to learn this song in high school. it sounds so beautiful in churches but it was super hard to learn and our director was an asshole and made us practice almost every day. it paid off tho. when we sang it in church, people said we sounded like angels :D

  • My favorite version of this song EVER. This is absolute love. ♥

  • I think I'm in love with this choir....... :O The opening phrases just made my entire night. Bravo.

  • wow... i wish the boys in our choir sang like this....

  • absolutely beautiful, guys!

  • besaides the fact that this choir has excellent singers, the location where the song is being sang makes this song that more majestical and beautiful. I can tell it's a large area, because it emits an echo that harmonizes this song beautifly...amazing job.

  • I am SO glad I finally remembered the name of this song and found your choir's performance of it. BEAUTIFUL song and BEAUTIFUL execution of it!! I LOVE this song!!! Wonderful job!

  • The conductor is magnificent.

  • this is so so good! my high school sang this song for choir too! it's so pretty and just awesome!

  • im doing this for IMEA

  • @singer1234566571 woot see you at auditions maybe lol

  • @singer1234566571 o: So am I. What school are you from?

  • @singer1234566571 me too.

  • This is my favorite version of O Nata Lux on YouTube. Congrats!

  • This is one of the most, umm, what's the word? Lush! This is one of the most lush, yet precise versions I've ever heard of this. Very well done!

  • you are a fantastic choir and you have remarkable tone. id love to see more of this choir, i am so impressed =)

  • u guys are amazing!

  • I sang this in Ely Cathedral England for a service with the Royal School of Church Music and we were so impressed we did a retake( just like this fantastic choir) in the chapter house a truly memorable occasion. Hope to persuade Matthew Owen at the RSCM COURSE in Chester Cathedral Aug 2011 to let us do it again.

  • hotties in front, the girl in white, girl in yellow .. maybe i'd also take the one in black on left. music was kind of annoyin tho, too loud, drowned out the hotness.

  • singing this at contest in Indiana for concert choir! beautiful song, and we listen the THIS version in class for an example (the STANDARD)

  • Gorgeous sound!

  • I like this song very much

  • morten lauridson was my teachers teacher at usc

  • What a wonderful moment captured forever! A beautiful rendering.

  • so pumped for our choir to do this piece, i dont know if it will be as awesome, but im hoping it will be pretty awesome!

  • amazing! i wish the audience wasn't being so noisy though.

  • What's funny is this wasn't even truly a performance. We sang for a mass in the Basilica, then came down to see the Crypt Chapel and just sang through this for fun. There were only five or so others in the chapel. It was a fantastic experience.

  • @mulfymania this is when the magic happens, when things happen that you didn't plan. You will remember this moment for the rest of your life, I should know because I came from an amazing high school choir and I was lucky to have these moments many times

  • this is a beutiful piece. my school chrous is doing this peice. we have to perform this peice on nov. 18 at ECU in greenville

  • Beautiful!!...our choir is learning the same peice now and i love it...well done

  • We just started this song in my choir today and I though it was just breath taking!

  • This song is truely gorgeous. My choir performed this song at a church very similar to this except there was a wrap around balsony we stood around. it was beautiful. i get chills every time i hear this song.

  • Wonderful, truly great!! finally a choir with good vowels and blend!!

  • Great job, Northfield!

  • Our high school goes to state in less than twelve hours doing this :)

  • soooooo beautiful!!!!!!!!! i could listen to this recording forever. that is music from heaven!

  • Beautiful!

  • This is awesome. Our high school is doing this right now.

  • We're singing this at my school's choir. Their voices/version are so much better.

  • this is such a beautiful song. my high school choir in white plains and a few other choirs are doing this peace in carnige hall in march, i hope we do the song justice

  • We DIdn't...I sang there.

    People rushed...all the time!

  • AGREED, I was there too (I'm also from white plains lol, who are you oscar?)

god, I'm a soprano though and my uh, fellow sopranos were really pissing me off... especially since it seemed like some of the people from the other choirs were just goofing off :c

  • The music that comes out of Northfield, MN is always superb. It is incredible that this quality comes from a high school performance. Top-Notch Job.

  • I have fond memories of this song when our high school choir did it. Can't say we ever got to perform in the Basililca though! It sounds amazing!

  • :D i'm singing this for contest! it's required. it's SOOOOO beautiful. wonderful job.

  • Beautiful :) I listened to the first bit, then looked for a different recording because of the sound quality. But I came back..because it's the best version (singingwise!) on here i think.

  • To - joninho22:

If you took a second to get over yourself you'd realize that the reason you can't hear the diction is because it's a poor recording and not the musicians. They did an execellent job. Next time, before you spout off negativism that makes you look like an idiot, take a minute to use your brain before you open your mouth.

  • I'm not trying to insult anyone, but at the very opening it is very unclear, due the common tones in every voice, which syllable the choir is on, and the result is one large omnivowel with an s at the end. That's not a recording issue. Ive sung and conducted this piece and the diction is the one issue that always comes up. Choirs consistently have difficulty with slower softer diction. It is in no way a poor performance, but the diction in my opinion was lacking. Is that better for you?

  • its clear to me.. but i have a 5 speaker system hooked to my computer. the pitches match you do hear a off key.

  • It's true that diction could always be a bit better, but it is quite a bit because of the recording that the consonants in this video are unclear. The acoustics in the Crypt are just so crazy good that the sound just blends into one giant mass of beautiful noise. Of course, i was singing with the group at the time of the recording, so I have quite the bias. It was one of the greatest experiences I've had- just one of those things that sends a chill down your spine, when you get to participate.

  • agreed pure music.

  • You guys did an amazing job! My HS chorus went to Carnegie Hall with 5 other HS's from around the country. It was an amazing experience!

  • i meant in the basement of the church of immaculate conception (also known as the national cathedral...)

  • Sounds great...but just so you know, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is the Catholic Cathedral, but not the National Cathedral. National Cathedral is the Episcopal Cathedral, both diocese and National. (sorry, I'm a geography buff who used to life there.) But again, you guys sound great!!!

  • I WAS IN THISS!!!!! that's so exciting; we did an amazing job. We're all sophomores to seniors in high school... The men were ages 15- 18, the women, 16-18. This was done at St. Patrick's in Washington DC as part of our performance tour.

  • how old are you guys? i love how you sing the song slowly it makes the song sound even more beautiful and your tone is great! amazing!

  • This is a high school choir; ages 15-19.

  • @vaq33ens wow! what a standard!

  • My marching band played this as part of our show. This version is beautiful. It's a wonderful piece, regardless of if its done by a choir or by a band.

  • Wonderful job. I did this in college and loved it!! Bravo performance. :)

  • my choir just started learning this song and i absolutely love it. i couldn't get it out of my head so i had to look it up haha. this sounds very nice.

  • This is gorgeously done... how old are the singers? They look pretty young, which makes it all the more impressive.

  • all high school students. the men are ranging from sophomores to seniors and the women are all juniors and seniors

  • Wonderful!! Well done!!

  • Terrific. Vowels are constantly lost in a place with acoustics like that. You guys took it slow enough to unify your vowels and it sounds great. Two pieces of advice, though. The word dignare is a tough word because of the second syllable. We sang it like "dee-nar-ay". Secondly, tenors could use falsetto a bit more to help with blend. But an all around terrific job!

  • Fantastic sound from such young singers. Well done to them and their conductor/director

  • wow!

  • I think this is the best version posted on YouTube! For recording purposes, singing it in a basilica definitely helped your sound! Great job, guys. I sang it with the University of Florida mixed choir in 2004... about the same caliber of sound.

  • i was singing in this choir...the crowd talking was very distracting.

  • These young people are dedicated to making wonderful music. Bravo!!!

  • very young singers! but well done!!!!!!!

    have to cry ;o(((

  • :o( beautiful!!!

  • ohhhhh it's a rehearsal. haha, never mind.

  • why are there people talking during a performance??

  • Great blend all around, splendid rendition.

  • Really great music!

  • shut up crowd

  • What?

  • What?

  • beautiful! sang the same piece my sophomore year of college, glad to hear it so well done =)

  • good music it really is!! great new composer

  • Very nice! I've also sung in the same space and it was an amazing experience.
