  • Are those tank traps at the beginning made out of sugar?

  • Did youtube take all copies of this movie down

  • I would have for sure signed up for the army during WW2 for my country. And if their is a WW3 i will go directly to sign up for the Canadian Army

  • @ThePimpycat

We all better hope that there is no WW3; if there is, it'll be over and you'll be dead before you can set foot out of your house...

  • @jerico641 Well, yes I do hope that their will never be a WW3, but with tensions rising between the USA and Iran, i'm not saying they will go to war but if ever they did which i dont think would happen but anyway it their were a war between them it would probs start a ww3, so before the war would reach Canada, i'd go sign up and serve my US allies and my country.

  • @ThePimpycat

I don't think the U.S. has much to worry about regarding Iran; it's a tiny country in the middle of the desert with no natural resources, rampant poverty and internal violence, and a vicious, medieval theocracy for a government. Trust me, we are in no danger from Iran, and if you believe that the U.S. and the United Nations will ever allow it to develop a nuclear weapon capable of striking the Western nations, you really need to think again. Please don't be fooled.

  • @jerico641 Well Iran has a lot of oil but anyway, I guess your right. And yea their govement is a total maniac who is corrpt, we should let the Iranians take him out themselves

  • @ThePimpycat You're brainwashed beyond belief. Go take him out then, go take a parachute and a gun and go over there and change the government yourself, don't advocate others to risk their bodies for some jewish ideology.

  • @Purplecatsoup30 There is something wrong with you...

  • @Edude117 no, I don't think so. There's something wrong with Europe. Oh wait - Russia is over there.

  • @Purplecatsoup30 Look, dumbfuck. Russia is mostly in Asia. How about you quit being such a damn, stereotypical american and act a bit more respectful.

  • @Edude117 yeah I fucking know that you loser shitball. The point is Russia has contaminated Europe. Therefore, they don't deserve to exist: nice real estate for German inhabited cities. You can keep some of the Russians around for working in the sewers.

  • @Purplecatsoup30 Would you be so kind as to explain explicitly how on Earth Russia is contaminating Europe. I don't want you to speak of the past. Right now, presently, how is Russia contaminating Europe?

  • @jericoparazo Well, except that in fact no. Recent studies have shown that unit engage in battle like Stalingrad lossed between 75% to 95% of their trooper in one or two weeks (No shit !!). The survivors were hardened killer tought and this could be alone considired like a tribute to their spirit of sacrifice. By example, from 13,200 men of the 13 infantry guard division led by Rodimtsev, only 312 made it alive by the end of the battle. :-/

  • @jericoparazo Yup, but it happened frequently, as soviet infantry weren't very good at this time. (Except Guard and paratrooper unit.)

  • @SkavenVideo It wasn't a question about being good - it was a question of the best military force ever created (in just a few years and built from ruins) coming full boar at you. All of the empires of Western Europe united were thrown into the sea in weeks. Eastern Europe was only spared the fate of Western Europe because of the enormous size of the USSR and because the German Army was being led by a fanatical politician living on Meth and other drugs & dying of Syphilis and Parkinson's disease.

  • @SkavenVideo And because the soldiers in the Red Army were more fanatical then those of the other Allied forces - but this was in large part do to the totalitarian nature of the USSR under Stalinism & the fact that there entire units dedicated to executing anyone who wasn't fanatical enough to fight the Germans - but it was also because of Russian Nationalism and the horrible fate that would come to everyone in the USSR if they lost & tens of millions had already been killed by Stalin before WW2

  • @HumanActivitySystem

Well, they were fanatical also because Germany had invaded their country in 1941, destroyed cities, and killed scores of their people...

  • So, this is where Michael Bay got his inspiration, too bad he didn't have the talent.

  • random slow motion hip shooting crap

  • too fake

  • Finally, a film from the perspective of the Germans all we need is a newer version...

  • @wcerule77 If you want to see more WW2 films from the perspective of the Germans, look up "Stalingrad", "Das Boot", and "Downfall".

  • Wow, Ive never actually heard of this film until now...came across it looking up details on the medal from which it gets its name. Looks interesting, especially the apparently authentic equipment used.

Although I'm from allied heritage, its important to realise that certain people on *all* sides of the conflict were involved in atrocities, and there were also those on all sides who were very honorable and decent. Better to learn the lessons of the past, not prolong the old hatreds, imo.

  • @Wolfenkrieger learn your history- from the invasion of france captured british soldiers (East Kents) were murdered by German soldiers onwards- Hitler gave order all Brit commandos to be killed when captured even the Great Escape film is based on truth- they were killed by Germans as for the Eastern front and Poland- very bad -watch Come and See (Russian film) to see how bad they were - the death camps? were they allied propaganda too?

  • excelent cinematography for a movie of that age

  • this was filmed in yugoslavia? right?

  • no cgi here men, a proper film.

  • Was "steiners" parka in camouflage or that gray?

  • prefer to see james coburn speaking in english, thanks

  • T-34 EPIC WINNERS OF WWII

  • why is there a dummy in the tank? The Russian were not as brutal as I thought. They just lost millions of automated tank dummies instead of humans. I find that very touching....I was wrong all this time. Stalin was nice.

  • @PJ3love Stalin was nice? He just slaugther milions of his own people and even friends and party members you find that Nice?

  • @ImperialGuard9001 re read it in its context and you may see the funny side....you are a dummy for believing that Stalin used dummies (as per the film if you look closer). Then you will understand the context of the statement....dont be so bloody narrow minded and myopic....

  • Is it just me or the tank was push all the tanks traps away?

  • 0:56 mine with surprise

  • if they had focused on defeating the brits before messing up with the soviets, germans may have had a better chance in the eastern front, but the ussr would have grown stronger while they focused on the brits, so no matter what they do, it was their fate to lose the war.

  • No totaly wrong if the germans wouldnt draw americans into the war in europe (by attacking their warships to england) and making peace with britain, they would be able to concentrate 100% on the eastern front and Hitler didnt listen to his Generals who knew things beter than him, Hitler refues and draw back for refreshment of troops so the frontline just died out as you could see in Stalingrad.

  • @JSLegoMaster well, in one thing we both agree, if germans had focused on either of their fronts, they may had a better chance, but i still think that soviets made a bigger effort, just my opinion, and your opinion is diferent, anyway, aren´t we both glad the axis lost the war?

  • Yes I am glad they lost it of course. I dont say anyone is better as the other however, If we look at it just objective and forget who murderd 9 million people in KZ we can se the russians simply won because of their massive manpower of course some russians were extremley good figthers but the russian officers just sent wawe after wave to the front, if the firt 5 waves all die, well doesnt matter cuz we still have a wawe of 10 armies. Thats the russians officers tactic afetr stalingrad all in al

  • @JSLegoMaster i could´nt have said it better man!, yeah manpower made it for the soviets, and the allies made their part too, but doesn´t matter where they where from, they were brave man and suffered the same!!!

  • Day-to-day life on the Finnish front, except that we didn't retreat.

  • @SH67 How inappropriate....this has nothing to do with the Winter War.

    Great movie, fantastic classic.

  • @p616arsley Winter War?????????? Go check the statistics of Karelian front in 1944.

  • @SH67 lol, don't flatter yourself sweetheart

  • If anyone doesnt mind me asking, what exact battle was this movie based on?

  • @Kantachi1 Takes place when the Soviet's forced the Germans Taman Peninsula.

  • James Couburn and Maximillian Shell played the part of Germans well.

  • I'm fond of the German army, but hated their war crimes and atrocities against innocent women and children

  • German army didnt carry out many atrocities against women and children. The Eizgruppen ss were responsible for that

  • @Tinchle21 What's the Eizgruppen?

  • @irvinemuscles Einzgruppen, sorry bad spelling :), they were a branch of the SS who did not fight in the front lines like the Waffen SS but liquidated Russian civilians, unkown to the army. This was so German civilians could move into Russian land and start farming it for Germany. Not very nice people

  • @Tinchle21 That's fucked up. Hitler did some bad shit and I don't agree with a lot of his decisions. Killing innocent people is totally wrong and led to his downfall. Great speaker and motivator though. One of the best ever.

  • It is wrong. But was a policy to make Germany great. As said the German nation was oblivious to it and only found out about it after the war. However remember Stalin killed 30 million of his OWN people before the war because of his repressions. 10 millions of his own civilians died as a result of his policies during the war. In fact Stalin killed millions more of his own people that Hitler or any Einzgruppen

  • @Tinchle21 Well I for one cant say Stalin killed more people than any other leader but he was crazed in keeping power he couldn't even trust a kitten in the 40's he killed people to keep communism alive (in his way), In conclusion a better man than Hitler who mostly killed people for their race, religion, ideology, way of life, etc when the war was coming to a close he razed what was left of Germany and its economy because of a belief he had in 'Glorious victory or climactic death in defeat'

  • @Tinchle21 Sorry. Much as i respect the German military it is pointless to maintain that they didn't know about the Einzatzgruppen. Those fine fellows were tasked with waxing Jews, Communists and other "anti-social" elements. It was determined that decent men couldn't really handle the job - had to stay drunk and then had breakdowns - prompting Himmler to turn to poison gas and to employ Ukrainian and other auxiliarys later. Manstein, Hoth and others were up to their necks in it.

  • That's true, but those "SS" were German army also...

  • @Tinchle21 true, they also made the ss get drunk before doing that.

  • @Tinchle21 German Army also did some atrocidies more than Eiztngruppen but who cares realy? Were the Soviet American or British armies anny different? OF COURSE NOT! Wars are brutal even today British and Americans comite atrocidies in their war scenarios all over world and all is supressed!

  • @ImperialGuard9001 You are correct, I am less naive now :)

  • I wish more American/European WWII focused on the Eastern Front. That theater alone contributed to the massive death toll of WWII. But sadly most of my fellow Americans just say "HURR D-DAY SAVED THE WORLD".

  • @THEJACKAL09 And the bombing campaign had a larger affect than ever admitted in the west wierdly. Listen to german leadership comments after the war, especially speer and you get a good picture. Both US and UK bombing campaigns disrupted a lot of industry by 42 onwards and soaked up vast amounts of luftwaffe that would have been facing russians. Also AA guns. When bombing stopped about 1 month from end, those guns were used as AT against russians tanks and losses skyrocketed around berlin.

  • Very true although out of the 50million that died in the war, 20 million that died were chinese... we do hardly anything about that.

  • Anyone who has served in battle knows in their heart there is no "glory" in war.

  • @pretorious700

In my opinion it depends for what cause you fight, if you fight againts tirany or oppresion if you fight againts just cause then you can call glory to our veterans if you fight for political causes or country interes like in Vietnam then you cant really feel glorious or proud of yourself, this is the diffrence between Vietnam and WW2, for what are we fighting?

  • @NEMESIS1999 Agree. Moral high ground has a wierd effect. Something that US definately did not have in Iraq, despite Sadam being a turd, and in Afghanistan the original reasons are all now lost and muddled. Is it a civil war now? Who is the Taliban nowdays? Afghan, Pakistani, foreign arabs? Does anyone there want democracy or do they just want to be left alone with their opium crop?

  • @pretorious700 I partially disagree. War is in many ways dreadful, but I fought in a war and I'm proud of myself and my comrades. Ultimately though, war is the opposite of 'survival of the fittest," the best die and one side loses (both sides really) and it all around sucks. One has but to study the holocauast of WWI and the dreadful consequence (i.e. WWII) to know how crazy it is to have these wars. Europe is changed for ever - but I doubt the victors are cheering too loudly.

  • Wird der Film aus Sicht der Deutschen oder Amis gezeigt?

  • @diabolo1234504 Von der deutschen Seite

  • i have one of those field caps but its the ss one and it doesnt have the eagle just the skull, very good it seems with the flecktarn jacket for going around with friends

  • @strudel89 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (catches breath) HAHAHAHAH XD "for going around with friends" do that here and you would be killed by angry mobs wielding torches and pitchforks ^^ but seriously you crack me up

  • and where the fuck do you live in the "were ashamed of ourselves" land?buddy as well as the german helmet,(currently in fashion between the bikers),this field cap is like having i dont know some bad guy´s military cap,i cant still get why everytime you see a 40s uniform in germany all these people want to chop each others heads,Lemmy Kilmister was almost sent to jail because he was wearing one of those ss hats in germany,i dont know but thats stupid, not even the russians do that

  • @strudel89 I'm not the least bit ashamed of my heritage i'm referring to the skull and bones sybol on your cap. SS- Divisions

like the SS divison totenkopf where responsible for the most massacres

commited by germans during wwII. totenkopf units where also guards in konzentration camps and that's why those units are despicable and wearing their symbols is disgraceful. If you didnt know what these units did look up

2nd tank division das reich Oradour-sur-Glane just to name one among many

  • @CrazyKraut20 The massacres of British POWS by the Waffen SS at Wormhout and Le Paradis in 1940 as well as executions of Allied POWs during the battle of Normandy and the massacre of US POWs at Malmedy in December 1944.

  • @JimbobHarrigan1984 Wars are brutal the Allies also massacred POWs and Civs but we never see them as "Evil Guys" I wonder why... If Germany had won even if they bombed NY to hell people today would see Germans as ultimate heroic figures

  • @strudel89 sending people to jail because they wear such clothes is another thing if someone feels the need to express himself in such a way he should be free to do it because it should be part of his personal liberty and as long as he isn't all in my face about it i wouldn't care much and i was exaturating with the angry mob remark but 95% of all people would give you killer looks some might even beat you up (wich is ironically fascist behaviour XD but wth)

  • i dont know but in the us if you wear america military vietnam era stuff you get flowers,if you glorify the russian soldiers who fought in ww2 you are congratulated not to mention they killed around 91% of all the german prisoners they caught, they killed many civilians and raped a lot of german women,by the way i know about these divisions i almost wrote a book about that, most of that info keeps changing i dont know if its because is controlled by the american media

  • @strudel89 Its in western books and media. The rape of germany is well documented nowdays. A lot of it was actually whipped up by the russian heirarchy to get men to fight in 44-45 with high losses, and it got out of control. There were several cases of russian pow nurses who were liberated, then raped.

  • From someone who has served in an infantry unit, many of the scenes in this movie are very realistically portrayed, unlike most Hollywood war flicks. The patrol scene at the start is especially well staged.

  • Achja. Steiner. Den habe ich schon lange nicht mehr gesehen. Schade das Coburn nicht mehr im 2.Teil dabei war.

  • if germany hadnt been held up in crete and yogoslovia russia would have fell to the wermacht before their winter took full affect they got to moscows doorstep and ran out of supplies they had the the commies if hitler hadnt been so arogant

  • @91soonerdude1

no need for what-if scenario's. There are plenty of moments in time when the war could've turned out very differently. Let's be thankfull fascism was destroyed and mourn the loss of live during WWII.

  • "Pretty stong meat there from **SNIFF**, Sam Pekinpah"! -AFilm Critc (and will you STOP sniffing!)

  • Excellent film, it's good to see the Boche slotting lots of dirty Ivans.

  • I have a Kuban medal on my camouflage smock...., fashioned from a Zeltbahn...

  • @DonMeaker Fantastic!

  • cheesy

  • A stunning film by Peckinpah. I remember seeing it in NYC with a friend shortly after it was released. We decided to stay in the theater and see it twice in a row. Never done that before or since.

  • Comment removed

  • Too right!!!

Peckinpah was a true visionary genius!!!

It`s a damn shame the Hollywood studios kept fucking him over!!!

  • Yeah, except the muzzle flashes look phony.

  • I believe this was the first look at the hell on the eastern front for us in the US. Before this movie the "Russian front' , was were Sgt. Schultz from "Hogans Heros" was always being threatened with. As this was a comedy show it could not have been all bad, right?

  • lmao 3:10 - 3:14

  • It is always interesting to see WW2 from the other side.

Interested viewers may also enjoy "The Bridge," "Come and See," and "Fires on the Plain," for other perspectives.

  • EUROPE FOR EUROPEANS

  • One of the best ww2 war movies!

  • @dualis777 You Sir are right.

  • i remember renting this film and being so disppointed that it wasnt in german. i was genuinely hoping to have heard it spoken in german that when i saw english credits roll at the beginning i instantly began to like it less. still a class film though, my own immaturity aside

  • really enjoy this film, depicts the horror of war really well,im no expert but the tanks, weapons and uniforms etc look really authentic.

  • They're pretty much all authentic, Sam Peckinpah always uses authentic elements in his films.

  • The Iron Cross is the only War Movie where German Soldiers don't act stupid or look real ugly like the English War Movies or some other Bullshit. This Movie shows like it really was.Great American Movie just like the Bridge of Arnhem.

  • watch stalingrad- thats another. but yeah your right some hollywood movies insults the german soldiers.

  • one example is indiana jones, the rest is most▐▐▐

  • the bridge of arnhem? do you mean a bridge to far? that is a british film. the americans were never at arnhem

  • Du hast mehr als nur recht , ich kann dir nur zustimmen ! Gibt n Daumen hoch von mir !

    Gruß

  • Another one that accurately depits the Germans is "Stalingrad."

  • Real T34/85 Tank and not a dodgy mock up / conversion. Well done Sam Peckinpah!

  • What does all this politicking have to do with the film?

  • Again, you obviously know nothing of the economic situation of Germany post WWI. Becasue that memo was sent to Lord Boothby in response to a letter received by Lord Boothby from Edward VIII. In this letter from Edward VIII it talks about Hitler's ambition to bring the arms sector under state control therefore giving the government more production power and being able to ship more weapons abroa to Germany's allies. Something the author of that book failed to mention.

  • Germany obviously "declared" war when the Germans faked the Gleiwitz incident. When this occured, Germany attacked the following day. Therefore a formal declaration of war was not needed becasue forces of one side had already begun to a) occupy the opposing nation's territory b) supress enemy resistance. Therefore, you are the idiot as you fail to understand how the war played out in the beginning at all. If you think that Germany didn't deserve WW2, you are a retard.

  • This movie is Skinhead!

  • Hitler wanted Danzig cause it was pretty german. Just thought i'd add that!

  • Also, your "money" plea is a load of garbage. That memo was in regards to the State controlled market Hitler wished to enact on the arms production sector. If money was the real reason, Britain and France would have declared war on Germany after the re-militarization of the Rheinland, or the anschluss with Austria.

  • If you think that, you are an idiot. The Germans declared war on Poland (an Allied country formally in August) therefore by declaring war on Poland Germany indeed brought war with Britain and France upon itself.

  • The Allies then proceeded to throw Poland under the bus by letting the Iron Curtain fall over Europe.

  • Not quite entirely true.

Stalin, lying filth that he was, had guarenteed free elections in Russian occupied areas.

Read the agreement. It's all written down.

Russians ain't like westerners--they're are asians and think more like the duplicitous Japs.

  • The Reich didn't start any war??

They were at war with Poland for 3 days before the French and Brtis declared war on Germany, which knew that invading Poland would bring a conflict with Britain and France

  • The reason y they declared war is because the Reich invaded Poland.

  • Skullchaser8 : I'll check it out.

But basucally Hitler started the war in Europe

  • Great film but there's no way a T34 would demolish a concrete anti tank obstacle by just driving into it!

  • thew best part was at 2:58

  • i agree with below this was one of the best ever war films made the german soldiers didnt want to be there they werent all bad

  • agreed, but the only people who wnated the war was Hitler and his buddies( inlcuding the other Axis leaders) and the arms manufacturers

  • Forgot the USSR's invasion of Finland?

  • what about Japan's invasion of China 1937??

  • i barely see movies were the germans are the main characters. usualy movies of ww2 are about the americans or someone else always fighting against the germans. they should make more movies of the german side of things

  • Only good communist is a converted or dead one!..,,Commies bring misery!

  • nazis bring a lot more misery in only 5 years than commies in 50

there's a reason the allies sided with the less bad system, a nazi world is insane

    get it mr nazi?

  • The Hurt Locker.

  • Germany and the USA should have teamed up and wiped Russia off the face of the Earth

  • NO!!! All nations should team up to wipe WAR off the face of the Earth.

  • they didn't want to side with freedom hating nazis one bit

besides germany and the USA were teamed up during the cold war? still no wiping out done

    get real you hateful nut

go there yourself and see what happens

  • haha he said realistic.

  • Everyone dies.Chosen the moment seems to be valiant.

  • 2:58 lol how conveniently precise.

  • The Germans in world war two did a lot of horrible things, with and without orders, but nevertheless, they died for their country, just like their Russian, American, and British enemies, and diserve to be remembered with respect.

  • wait at 1:40 is that a russian shooting another russian cuz the both have russia subs.

  • No that is a German soldier (Steiner) using the Russian weapon. All sides used captured weapons against each other from time to time. In the film, Steiner's unit is often used on scouting missions so they would often get access to Russian weapons & ammo.

  • true some time you dont have a choice.

  • much better looking uniforms than everyone else...

  • viel zu viel pathos! ich fürchte, die wahrheit vor ort war viel schlichter und grausamer - der film gibt das leider nicht wider - letztendlich unterhaltsam, aber nicht wirklich real - fast schon wie ein kriegsmärchen...

  • Satlingrad schon gesehen?

  • That must have taken some balls, to stand up to such a steel monster.

  • Dude, the worst enemy for a tank is CQB with infantry.

    Its like it primary weakness.

  • Given, that infantry has any anti-tank weapons. UNLIKE the Germans here.

  • anti-tank weapons were not always required pre-FSD era.

  • como se llama la pelicuca?

  • thats it you tough bastards! stand up against the ruski barbarian hordes

  • Is it possible to make a realistic war movie? I doubt it.

  • This was kind of the first modern war movie, the first one with modern looking battle scenes was Dr.Strangelove. Kind of provided a respite to John Wayne slurring his way through the Green Berets.

  • This is THE movie! There is not any movie like this

  • Great action. But are the dragon teeth made out of plaster of paris?

  • Looks like it

  • Your fellows are a little bit cracy, arn`t you! What a bulshit! Are you living in a cyberspace?

  • the T-34 was like "whats up!! im a tank bitshs"

when it plowed into building he he

  • lawl. i dont think shootin the tank with Mp40 submachine guns is a good way to stay alive/kill the tank
