I have a similar problem with my fanfiction. I'm so concerned about what others will think about it since I'm sharing it with everyone that it's holding me up from writing it. I'm worried about people being very judgmental about it. If it's crap, then what would be the point in continuing the write my fic? It's like I'm forcing myself to do this and it's not fun anymore. I wish I could cut loose but still...
Hi Im a good friend of Multifire.I know how stressful it can be 2 be a fanfic writter I am 1 myself. I know I'm not the best and I take what I can get from people who discourage me. The key is 2 not take what they are saying like U suck this doesn't even make sense (mpreg 4 example) but 2 take the help they offer like how to make it better in the end. As for those who judge you based on the material not worth ur time so don't worry about it & keep writing it is good for U.
Videogames, animes, cartoons, movies, TV shows... these things can go away from our lives when we die at any moment. I am a fan of these things... HOWEVER! that doesnt mean that they cannot go away from our lives you know. Plus, we always have the NOSTALGIA stuff around in our heads once we are done with our "kid's stuff" when we are outgrown from them.
Well Transformers revenge of the fallen was a crappy movie (for example), and I like to make fun of it just how bad it was, regardless how my "fan" side likes the movie.
See people need to have guilty pleasures once in awhile. We need 2 sides to love/hate something. Your "fan" side loves or obsesses it, but your "realisitc" side needs to know what is right or wrong about it (state the flaws and positive about something, including animes).
@maverickhunterdelta If you like anything, it means the show clearly did something right. You should always make a point to mention what something does right. Also, I am against the phrase "guilty pleasures" you should never feel guilty for something you enjoy.
@Multifire - Oh my bad, the term has been usually going around lately and, I am not really offended by it anymore (cause it is just a word and I don't feel emotionally attached). Like what anyone would make fun the show you are into, you can always "shrugged it off" like they are missing on what we call fun. Sorry for the phrase again xD. I had been watching nostalgia critic videos and have grown mature to understand the term and not feel angered by it.
@Multifire I saw that video and as a Bleach fan I thought it was awesome. But engh that's just me. I tend to appreciate creative fan homages to series I enjoy.
this is why i dont really talk to anybody about anime. I've never felt the need to ruin shows with my opinion. I personally dont like bleach, and got bad around the 2nd season. with that being said, i dont go shouting to the heavens that it sucks becuase I dont need an ego trip
That machinima vid i saw it it made me go wow. There are people who are bigger faggots than the machinima community they make us sound nice and intelligent lol, Im a anime fan aslo but completely avoid anime community seen over 200 animes watch what i want, Anyways Ya I rofl at how People took the way the person looked to heart,I mean just that made me rofl. And then some one said this is killing bleach which to me is a irrelevant for life show. How do you kill whats dead
I definitely agree though, the anime community has a lot more hate and segregation than most. It's like we don't want others to feel welcome here. You can definitely see it at cons. And I won't blame it just on the newer generations. Older fans are just as bad. It seems like everyone must love or hate everything these days.
Can't we have our Kirk and our Picard? Can't we enjoy FMA and Brotherhood?
The reason I review things is more of an exploration of the craft. As a designer, I like to know how things work so I might be able to implement the same in my own work. I also review to help those looking for info on a series and whether or not it's worth watching. I try to keep my critiques as constructive as possible to help whomever to improve in their future projects.
Once I watched an anime that I found rather unexceptional--nay, sub-par. Later I found out that it had a large fanbase who considered it not only the best in the metaseries, but one of the best anime of all time. I was flabbergasted, & proceeded to rewatch it not once, not twice, but four times, & with each episode my feelings grew from disinterest to digust. Finally, one day I thought to myself "Why am I watching this?" & went off to do something I enjoy.
Thank you for this. People have to right to like whatever they like and enjoy it, and they shouldn't be judged for it. Naturally, there are exceptions, but if you genuinely like something for what it is, then you shouldn't be judged for it. By the way, fan wars are stupid and pointless.
I'm just gonna say this: I tend to appreciate stuff for what they are, not the quality. I personally dislke harsh criticsm and if you don't like something, instead of badmouthing it on a comment section, or on a forum or whatever, just...not care about it. Do something else.
@SuperMarioFan1 I agree, sometimes it isn't the best idea to shove your opinion down people's throats. People tend to get obsessed with they don't like. They need to stop that and just pay attention to what they do like.
I get bored of fans and communities because they overreact to everything. Now, if the makers of said piece of media, were in the middle of creating something and they were bashing fans/people along the way. Then that's bullshit, and they deserve to be torn apart.
However, honest effort is being torched the same way, and that just isn't right. What's sad is even the video game community is more lighthearted. The reaction to fan films for Portal and other Valve products are my proof.
Elitism almost ruined anime for me. Then I thought, "Hey, these guys are just pretentious douchebags who are using the internet as an outlet and to feel superior over others."
This tendency to expose everything as "secretly shit" and being overly sensitive to fan-made content are the main reasons I tend to distance myself from the anime community and fan communities in general.
Indeed, most people, including myself, have been a lot more cynical on a lot of things, tbh, im not even sure why that is, what has become of people to be more cynical, especially anime. No one should be that ignorant or immature. Thumbs up to your video multifre, i agree with what you have said.
I have two words to say to you Multifire and that is thank you. That's what anime is all about, enjoying it even if the show has pros and cons, I don't like when some people questions someone's fandom because someone likes a certain show. Also yeah, the Bleach live action was just fanmade, I don't know why alot of them took it so seriously.
i get what your saying just like today i joked about tax dollars on a vid of soliders watching a video and the due went full dick mode on me but i saw that vid and i though it was fucking awsome just like the sonic fanboys bashing sshit before it comes out and stuff but i get what your saying
Interesting video, just watched that live action bleach vid and from peoples comments it reminded me of those hardcore sonic fanboys who were pissed about the new generation sonic when they tried to make that old school sonic game feel.

I still hate that series, but I won't let it spoil my mood anymore & I don't take it out on its fans (at least not most of the time).
