@GaryNull yep it is but it was never great by his own admission but it gives the band their distinctive sound,so we let it pass now?

Same thing with Peter Gabriel. Big fan of him, but can't listen to his voice anymore after around 1988.
Singers lose their high range as they get older, and the overall quality of their tone diminishes.
Not true in all cases though. A healthy lifestyle and with careful care of their "instrument" can keep it in good shape.

Jon Herington absolutely owns the last minute or so of this song -- great playing. Just a great tune overall, with a really driving rhythm line.
