you double your number (making it even) and add 2 (still an even number) multiply by 5 (any even numb times 5 ends in a 0, i.e. a multiple of 10) and subtract 3. it'll always end in a 3.
@martharosey It doesn't work if you do all the operations in one go, coz both a human and a calculator would use bodmas and get 7, but the person who volunteers for the trick will probably be doing each operation one at a time as the magician tells them to do it. In this way, it will work
