Is this guy really reputable? I got his info from the ILADS but saw that he was sactioned a couple of times. By any chance his office/staff arent overtly religious are they? Has anyone been there?

One reason for his sanctions is that he follows the ILADS guidelines but the insurance companies and medical boards often only want the physicians to follow the IDSA guidelines.

I've been to his office, he and his staff are some of the most thorough physicians I have ever seen and believe me, we've been to many many doctors.

@arfx3 very much so. he is my Dr in DC. The reason he was sanctioned was that the insurance companies did not like him treating with longer term IV abx. He is VERY thorough and so are his PA's. He is a very smart cookie and knows what is going on and is aware and treats mycoplasmal infections as well.

Canada too my friends. It's covered but they just don't treat you anymore unless they just throw pills at you that only bring on more problems in side effects. Let's all thank God for doctors like him. Please; all of you having or suspecting you have Lyme related symptoms buy or get the book from your local libary. "Cure Unknown" . It will answer and explain MOST of your questions and debunk most of the critics. The author is a well respected editor for "Discovery Magazine" and NOT some quack.

To let others know the depth of the problem, with the Assn. of Infectious D. Dr.s. My GP has informed me that Here in Scranton, PA the ONLY 2 specialists have informed all the GPs in this and the surrounding 4 very RURAL counties they will no longer accept any refurals of possible victims of Lyme. I made phone inquiries to the 3 in the next nearest city of Wilkes Barre, and was given the "In effect" same answers. I'm just informing people of what is; and, validating Dr Jemsek's statements. I was with BCBS of NC while seeing Dr Jemsek. I was unable to become self-pay and had to stop treatment. Dr Jemsek cared about my pain, my lab work, and he listened to me. I would love to be his patient again :)

Wow, speaks the truth? You mean like the 85% of American's that are happy with their health insurance? I'm not saying there isn't problems with the diagnosis of lyme and lyme being a under represented and treated disease. But it is because of rediculous Government oversight like what this health care bill will only cause more of. The Government Boards that choose what treatments doctors can and can't use to treat diseases are the reason lyme is in the state it is today.

I wish you were my doc. I was bit at eight years old by ticks. And since they didn't know about lyme at all back then, I wasn't treated. I ended up being sick throughout my teens and finally ending up totally disabled at age 21. I'm 39 now and still disabled and can barely walk from the lyme arthritis. My doctor has admitted she doesn't know how to treat me. They all just want to keep farming me out to different docs. It's horrible and I have no life from this disease. Thanks for posting

I've documented EVERYTHING, I have evidence including 2 positive ELISA's (2000 & 2003) since I got so sick and quicky after the 3 tick bites in 1997. I did finally get 10 days of Doxy after many months of suffering. Short-lived improvement. ONE last test, that's it! I will have a brain MRI and if it's normal...then I will dismiss Lyme. If it isn't...then I'm taking all of my test results and heading to the ER and will stay or come back EVERYDAY until they find a doc to diagnose and treat me :D

be careful i have severe neuroborreliosis with a NORMAL MRI.. but have a postive elisa and western blot and MANY neuro symtoms ive had for 23 yrs

Thanks for the 'heads up' ;). I've since been diagnosed and receiving treatment for adrenal dysfunction and chronic low DHEA -which is common w/Lymes -mainly due to tolerating pain. Which in my case, is caused by the Lyme arthritis....the lumbar spinal stenosis. It is now severe...I have substantial compression :(. My spinal cord is a twisted, tangled mess.

A normal MRI doesnot dismiss Lyme..not in a long shot! Every too many have normal MRI'S and have lyme.

Thanks Doc, for all your hardwork, exposing the pharma-political issues that have undermined our health care system for too long now. I've had dozens diagnosed illnesses crop up and all kinds of treatment (that help a little, if at all) and I've endured everything from immunoglobulin infusions to having a total hip replacement finally (at 45) and all the osteos are miffed and try to look for a cause (more recently bilateral IP thumb joint issues) and order all kinds of tests and come up empty!
