you should never delete a layer using the erase tool. I recomend using quick mask

The lips I think were much too red and the eyes were not quite the same color.

I would like to commend your first try! It was great and since there was little to fix in her face, you did great. Smoothing the skin must have been torturous.. erasing all those unnecesarry parts :)

Nice Job! I photoshop too and i love it! The only thing i would suggest is to maybe work with the color of the lips...they seemed a bit to unnatural... buts thats just my opinion...and work with the hair more! experiment its all trial and error for photoshop...:)

I have PS elements, and it does, but you have to use the selective brush and change the mode to "mask"

I think this was very nice for a first try, I tried capturing it too and that went soo wrong. I mean, it's normal to make mistakes now and then and you corrected them and the outcome was good so no harm done :) people are being too harsh with this

you might want to watch what you do with the lips and eyes

the eyes and lips were unnatural.when the crease between the two lips is the same color as the lips you can tell it's edited.

you could have fixed the skin, eyes, and lips, with just a simple brush technique: use the dropper to pick a good skin tone on her face, and use a brush with the opacity lower than 50% on color mode and just brush over everything.

that should do it and it's much more simple and with less layers.
