@Mysterian326 No, it was written that way. Paul Rugg, Freakazoid's voice actor and one of the show's writers, posted an entry on his blog in honor of Ricardo Montalban when the actor died in 2009. It explained that the writers wanted Gutierrez to say the same sort of dialogue as Khan just as a joke. The only reason Montalban joined the cast is because his doctor advised him that he needed to get out of the house and meet new people after his back surgery.

Freakazoid made me a Montalban fan long before I saw him in anything else. Now that I've seen Star Trek II, his role as Gutierrez just got so much better for me. Especially when he mentioned putting ooey-gooey worms in people ears.

No, kids didn't get it. That's one of the reasons the show was cancelled. So many of the jokes went over the kid's heads. I still liked it growing up, even if I didn't understand most of the jokes, but I could never find it. The ratings were spastic and not enoughs kids were watching compared to adults, so they kept fucking with the timeslots. Then no one could find it, ratings tanked and it was cancelled.

Shame. It was a brilliant show. Just as good as Animaniacs or PInky & The Brain.
