Yes, America was great...when people cared about each other, when they thanked God and the Democratic Party for Social Security and Medicare. They were not filled with fear of their own government. No Fox News with a constant diet of hateful rhetoric to make people crazy. The middle class was not a dying breed. Neighbors came out and talked to each other, told stories about the good times they treasured and the hard times they had survived. When people agreed to disagree. And it was OK.
