Roy did his own train whistle sound, until balancing a fiddle on his chin fell and knocked his teeth out. They then used a fiddle, until harmonica player Oney Wheeler joined the band, he could do a perfect train whistle sound from his throat. Oney died in 1984, on the stage of the Opry singing.
Two movies with Roy Acuff are GRAND OLD OPRY and NIGHT TRAIN TO MEMPHIS. I have them somewhere on one of my external hard drives . Ill see if I can find them and I will upload them to my mediafire folder as I get time
I found the two Roy Acuff Movies. They were copyied to a vhs tape that I took from television many years ago so the quality "aint that great" I reduced them to low resolution 100mb each to fit on mediafire. Check out my mediafire folder for these and lots of other stuff.
I think when they opened the new Opry House, Roy was on first but when the curtain opened it was the first part of this that they showed then the screen went up and Mr. Acuff and the Smoky Mtn. boys were playing along with it. They say the crowd was on their feet through the whole thing. What a blend of the old and new.
I think I spotted Uncle Dave Macon

One of the greatest artist, with a haunting voice, and the real sound of country and Hill Billy music.

I can't help but wonder if the artist modeled Howdy Doody on Roy. Great video, and I've rated it a 5.
