EVERYONE, yes the iPhone 4S WILL fit in the iPhone 4 Otterbox, all the buttons will line up if you got the universal case. HOWEVER the AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR is not exposed so the screen brightness will not automatically adjust (not too big of an issue to me) in the iPhone 4 it was in the same "hole" as the proximity sensor (which Siri uses) now in the 4S it's about 5mm to the left of it. All this means is that you have to manually dim the screen in a dark room etc. or you can just keep it at 75%

i have an otterbox defender for the AT&T iPhone 4, It fits my new AT&T iPhone 4S. However you can tell its a tighter fit and like you said, the mute button is lower (identical to the verizon iphone 4?) by a tiny bit.. but its worth keeping my iphone 4 defender rather than buying a $50 dollar 4S defender!

@itsmichaelw Thanks for this review. actually bought a iPhone 4 case last night and waiting for it. didn't even down on me that they actually made a "NEW" version for the 4S until this video. I'm going to see if I can use the case WITH a Gelaskin on it since they are so thin. also planning to rip out the screen overlay

Also did you know that OtterBox sends you a new silicon shell if yours gets lose over time? you just need to take a picture with your name in the frame! that's awesome service!

& everyone keeps saying (not just in your comments) that the headphone jacket doesn't line up?

@EmceeGeek That's because many think the port is for the headphone jack, it's not. The top port is for the top microphone. It does line up correctly to that. If you check the post I did about this on my site, I have pictures showing how everything lines up.

To use headphones you have to flip the port cover open. It's meant to be that way.

I was gonna get new cases for the 4s but I'm finding most cases fit like speckcandyshell, otterbox defender , sgp neo hybrid 2 & neo hybrid 2 ex series, just as you said the volume button is right under the volume rocker cut out. I'm gonna just stay with my same cases from the gsm iPhone 4. Nice vid!

cool video! the price of the old defender for the iPhone 4 is dirt cheap now! plus after watching a defender 4 and 4S case comparison the new case doesn't look as good. The lining on the back piece isn't the felt anymore. I wonder if they will stop producing the 4 case? personally i preferred the 3G defender it was 100% dust proof unlike the defender 4 :-(

Do you know if the speck iPhone 4 candyshell fits with the 4s? Specifically the side, the cut out for the mute toggle seems very similar, so i assume it will be a good enough fit and not half jammed inside the case. Some confirmation would be nice tho

i cheked the otterbox page and it says the defender case for iphone 4 doesnt fit iphone 4s.. the iphone 4s has its own that fits the normal 4 too why is this?

@nilotheking They say it doesn't fit, but the reasoning doesn't make any sense and Apple deny it. Also just sitting a Verizon iPhone 4 next to any iPhone 4S you will see they have the exact same layout. As long as you purchase the universal iPhone 4 defender as I did, it will work fine.

I have the verizon 4s and bought the white/white defender for iphone 4 and it fits perfectly, no issues taking pictures or anything. The only thing I did however have to do, was remove the plastic covering from the inside of the front portion of the case in order to allow for the proximal sensor to work at its fullest. Other than that its a perfect fit and for 15-17 bucks, its better than paying 50+ for the case specifically made for the 4s.

@cursteana This is a big misunderstanding people have. The hole is NOT for the ear phone jack. It's for the top microphone to the right of the ear phone jack. You'll notice it does line up with the microphone as it's supposed to.

When using ear phone you're supposed to flip the tab out.

Hey, i noticed that on the back camera the case sits on top of the chrome ring that sits around the camera. Have you checked the phone at all after putting it in the case? Has the chrome ring or any other part of the phone been scratched by the case at all? Thanks

@11Mikee The ring nor any other parts have been scratched at this point. Still looks fresh out the box new.

Keep in mind the inside of the back case, including the ring with the camera cutout are actually padded, not just hard plastic. So it's nothing abrasive to touch the chrome.
