  • I cry after comments from : 31Orcas and georgeq10 , it's true , poore thing , she's cry and innocent thing :'(

  • loveit

  • bad heads

  • @Nuclear793

If you were to build a pc you would fail epically. Because you would leave out the fan and it would go up in flames ( it may explode!!! ) you fail EPICALLY!!!

  • Argh, turn it off! SWITCH IT OFF. Put the poor thing out of its misery!

  • @3kliksphilip i put it out of its misery 'old yeller style' lol

  • The driver finally came out of the closet and admited it is gay.

  • @Nuclear793 meltdown much?

  • @sean12ab34cd look no i don't meltdown MUTCH i posted 1 comment and every buddy replay's saying 'NO THE FAN MOVE'S TO" and "THE POWER MOVES" and THE DVD PLAYER MOVES" like i dont care what people think

  • It's in pain..... poor thing :(

  • Comment removed

  • because the drive is not horizontal !!!

  • the head is touching between the platters which causes sqeaking

  • the HDD is the only moving thing in your computer

  • @Nuclear793 You fail. The fan is another common component of a personal computer that moves.

  • @Nuclear793 ok so the HDD moves, So does the liquid crystals inside the monitor, the CPU electrons are moveing so fast inside the speakers vibrate, and wires bend over a long period of time, and you press buttons and move them, also there is the FAN!!! how could you forget the fan!?!?!?!

  • Ive had the same vestern digital fail! WD is the best make i have to say! And plus maxtors head stack is on the other side of the drive.

  • Its a western digital!!

  • ITS CRYING!!! I had a Macintosh LC II that I bought for $5 and when I plugged it up at my mom's office, it worked fine. But my brother just carelessly threw it in the back of the car, and I brought it home to hear it squeal and cry :(

  • its making music

  • Thats sad, I hope it didn't live a corrupt life.

  • DJ Scratch... Hard drive HIT IT!

  • thanks! :)

  • That drive certainly knew how to sing. Too bad the poor thing broke. Must have been a reliable drive.

Your first video, eh? The quality was excellent and the sound was superb. Great work!

  • ops :(

  • shame, the damn thing has no feelings yet it is crying for help! I feel so sad (i actually do!) for that poor hard drive :,( oh well it had a nice life :-Þ

  • the readhead has contact to the disk...

  • poor drive :( it sounds so touching

  • At some parts of this video it sounds like a little puppy crying :-(

  • It sounds so innocent for an electronic device. Poor thing. At least it saw out of it's own case in it's last minutes. It probably had a good life of writing and erasing.

  • @31Orcas It might if made an innocent sound, but im sure it was full of pron lol.

  • @trignite lol

  • @georgeq10 wierd I feel the same.

  • that. drive. is. fucked.

  • Try using it as an external HDD on a different computer, then backup all your things and get it repaired

  • sounds like a catchy little cartoon jingle or something hahahahaha

  • Western Digital 40gb, your still safe to take more HDD's apart :)

  • oh shit youre right.... FUCK!! XD

I forgot what the interior of my own 40gb drive (which still works) looks like, and ive opened it at least 3 times... and not a single issue :D But with western digital drives you have to press down on the arm hub to make the arm move like i had a lid on

  • that is a IBM hard drive, probably within 10 gb correct? gawd if i am right it means i take apart FAR too many hard drives :D

  • it will only make them when its open

  • Such a good way to get your spinner scratched, Haha good video

  • Thanks! its my first youtube broadcast! :)

  • my 20gb western digital makes that noise also but wont give up on my gateway!

  • im glad too cos my hdd in my laptop died yesterday :(

  • common when board goes out

  • I wish I'd filmed my old hard drive when that failed. Shame I didn't have a six-sided screwdriver - I could have opened it up!

  • You can just use an appropriate sized flat head screw driver for a star screw =\ I've always used a flat head even though I have a six sided screw.

  • i tried it today, can remove plastics but not from metal

  • I wish I'd filmed my old hard drive when that failed. Shame I didn't have a six-sided screwdriver - I could have opened it up!

  • You can get a new actuator arm and platters.

  • Its only a flesh wound.

  • Wester Digital? 20, 40 or 60 GB?

  • 40gb digital western. i put it out of its misery. 'old yeller style' ...kidding.

  • Good thing you were kidding, HDD's are like, bulletproof you might get a bullet back at you.

  • lol, take off the top screw on the HDD and let it run, maybe set a ramp in the distance and watch them fly ;p

  • You want to know whats happened to that disk? Either one of the Read/Write heads on the servo arm ar damaged, so the disk is unable to locate and track, or there is a small scratch on one of the disks, maybe caused by bad handling... Whatever is its its dead. but likley to be to do with one of the heads at the end of the servo arm. I see this all the time

  • It's crying for help.

  • so i should stop kicking it then?

  • is this a WD400BB western digital

  • Maybe the squeal is made by the arm resonating by scratching on the central cylinder

  • That's Microsoft-based HDDs for ya.

  • Microsoft doesn't have anything to do with HDD's or computer hardware at all. All thay do is supply software like Windows and Office.

  • Yeah, I know. :-P. But Windows "corrupts" good/great HDDs. lol. j/k. Windows has more problems than Britney Spears.

  • lfol

  • HDD RIP It is headscratch... Your drive is fu**ed up now because of the dust. Sorry Guy

  • WD 200 or 400 bb seres drive

  • should of tried to put the hard drive in the freezer sometimes it works to recovery data!

  • vacuum?

  • crazy ?

  • sounds good

  • I think it is a firmware/elektronic problem. If you want to save data, try another circuit board from a same drive.

  • What fun things can I do with a spindle... hmmm... I've been trying to find some useless way to make the spindle in a few broken HDD into something even less useless... Any ideas?

  • Attach a sanding disk from an orbital sander to the platter.

Make a speaker out of the hardDrive.

Throw at your friends for hours of amusement!

Weigh those papers down for when you decide to go crazy and move your office desk to the rooftop of your workbuilding!

    Make dominoes!

Melt it down and create 1000 other less useless things!

Torture it some more for the entertainment of other youtuber's!

    :D~

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I have so many old Mac hard drives lying around and no Mac to put them in... I'm actually thinking about making a Tesla turbine from the old platters and throwing the empty cases at my friends, lol.

  • lol, it took ya 2 months to reply, but it was worth waiting for :D

I personally vote for this one, as being the funniest :D

"Throw at your friends for hours of amusement!"

    *chuckle :D*

  • Lol, I know, I rely on my e-mail to tell me when replies are posted to my comments, I haven't checked in a while. Thanks for the vote.

  • dont uncover a hard drive, it will be instanly killed

  • It already died, i couldnt access the data afterwords :( so i figured, what the hey, i'll open it up and make a video :) thanks for looking!

  • Ouch....RIP HDD =,( you can still have fun with a HDD make it in to a HDD speaker =P

  • my hd in my ibook made those noises when it stopped working

  • SAme thing happend with my hitachi

  • I've opened dozens of hard disks, none were damaged by dust. If it's ON, it won't get damaged. It's impossible for dust to touch and scratch the surface when it's on.

  • I think any diagnosis at this point is a moot point because once opened it is impossible to save the drive. If even a speck of dust gets there, the drive is ruined. Those are made in a dust-free environment.

  • i think d motor moving the head is stuck

  • that hard drive is dead
