If you were to build a pc you would fail epically. Because you would leave out the fan and it would go up in flames ( it may explode!!! ) you fail EPICALLY!!!
@sean12ab34cd look no i don't meltdown MUTCH i posted 1 comment and every buddy replay's saying 'NO THE FAN MOVE'S TO" and "THE POWER MOVES" and THE DVD PLAYER MOVES" like i dont care what people think
@Nuclear793 ok so the HDD moves, So does the liquid crystals inside the monitor, the CPU electrons are moveing so fast inside the speakers vibrate, and wires bend over a long period of time, and you press buttons and move them, also there is the FAN!!! how could you forget the fan!?!?!?!
ITS CRYING!!! I had a Macintosh LC II that I bought for $5 and when I plugged it up at my mom's office, it worked fine. But my brother just carelessly threw it in the back of the car, and I brought it home to hear it squeal and cry :(
shame, the damn thing has no feelings yet it is crying for help! I feel so sad (i actually do!) for that poor hard drive :,( oh well it had a nice life :-Þ
It sounds so innocent for an electronic device. Poor thing. At least it saw out of it's own case in it's last minutes. It probably had a good life of writing and erasing.
I forgot what the interior of my own 40gb drive (which still works) looks like, and ive opened it at least 3 times... and not a single issue :D But with western digital drives you have to press down on the arm hub to make the arm move like i had a lid on
You want to know whats happened to that disk? Either one of the Read/Write heads on the servo arm ar damaged, so the disk is unable to locate and track, or there is a small scratch on one of the disks, maybe caused by bad handling... Whatever is its its dead. but likley to be to do with one of the heads at the end of the servo arm. I see this all the time
What fun things can I do with a spindle... hmmm... I've been trying to find some useless way to make the spindle in a few broken HDD into something even less useless... Any ideas?
Thanks for the suggestions. I have so many old Mac hard drives lying around and no Mac to put them in... I'm actually thinking about making a Tesla turbine from the old platters and throwing the empty cases at my friends, lol.
I've opened dozens of hard disks, none were damaged by dust. If it's ON, it won't get damaged. It's impossible for dust to touch and scratch the surface when it's on.
I think any diagnosis at this point is a moot point because once opened it is impossible to save the drive. If even a speck of dust gets there, the drive is ruined. Those are made in a dust-free environment.
That head crash made me cringe.

You can just use an appropriate sized flat head screw driver for a star screw =\ I've always used a flat head even though I have a six sided screw.

Microsoft doesn't have anything to do with HDD's or computer hardware at all. All thay do is supply software like Windows and Office.

Attach a sanding disk from an orbital sander to the platter.
Make a speaker out of the hardDrive.
Throw at your friends for hours of amusement!
Weigh those papers down for when you decide to go crazy and move your office desk to the rooftop of your workbuilding!
Make dominoes!
Melt it down and create 1000 other less useless things!
Torture it some more for the entertainment of other youtuber's!
:D~
