I loved this video so much I watched it several times. From the short time and compared to other videos I learned a lot of having patience, talking within the child's language and with the child.Thank you both of you. I need lots of help of having patience, comforting and not getting frustrated.
People that make immature ignorant comments have absolutely NO UNDERSTANDING of Autism. Autism IS NOT mental retardation. People with Autism are usually savants with an unusually high IQ. They learn and process thoughts much differently than others. And they sometimes get a little overloaded in certain situations and circumstances and frustrate easily. Please, grow up and stop labeling Autism as mental retardation.
The techniques shown in this video aren't just tips for parents with children with disabilities. These tips can also be used for typically developing children as well.
@iHateHackerzx Aspergers is on the Autisim Spectrum. Meaning it is a form of Autism. Children diagnosed as having aspergers syndrome are high functioning, usually of higher I.Q. than a typically developing person, and usually verbal.
contrary to what you may think I have no grudge against autistic people, only faggy nerds who fake it because they're assholes. Autism is very real and anyone who fakes it deserves all of the bullshit they've been put through in high school.

@Ilikemustard you can interpret things the way you see fit, it's up to you how you want to view the world. You have your opinions and I have mine. I cannot control what you think or how you feel so I'll just end this back and forth. All the best :)
@Ilikemustard the goal is to help the parent/guardian better understand how to adapt to the child's autism. It is not a disease, therefore does not need to be cured. smh
@Ilikemustard I think the word you're looking for is typical. And to have them function at a level where they are able to interact with others doesn't hurt anybody.
There is so much hope for these children~! My son is ASD, and so "behavioral" that they could not even eval him-therefore he was to be put in self contained class. BUT after researching-he's on a GF/CF diet, gets supplements and has services and is now in a reg pre-k class, functioning, behaved, playing with other kids! I am so proud of him and thankful to God-People there are a lot of resources-do not be discouraged and do not listen to ignorance (see below) they should be ashamed. God bless~
Be patient things will get much better. Keep teaching him and carry on conversations with him. He will eventually talk more and learn more in time. My son is 27 and I wouldn't trade him for the world!
This video made me look at everything so differently. My son is in Autism spectrum disorders. Sometimes I get frustrated and inpatient with my son. I even yell sometimes :( this video makes me look at my actions, relize this isn't about me and what I can do to make things better!
@sommergreen7 let him fail. as many times at it takes no matter how painful it is to watch. let him do his thing until he finds how he fits into "our" thing. I don't think i was autistic but i didn't start speaking until i was almost four and i didnt make a real effort for eye contact and real social interaction until last year, my first year in college. I'm only saying all this because my mom was a loud woman too and she let me know she could be ever since i waited til the last minute
@sommergreen7 to make a shoebox diarama in second grade. It wasn't right that i was fucking up, but it wasn't fair that she took it upon herself to set me straight. Its so hard to know the right things to do but please dont look for him to satisfy your wants for him, rather put yourself into postion to help him whenever he needs it. autism is a mindstate and i really believe it can be corrected if the world is presented correctly to the child. let him crush his own fear of failure.
@sommergreen7 i agree. i am the same way with my son. i will try to be a better father now. my son has not been diagnosed yet, but we plan to have him checked.
What a wonderful grandmother! It takes love, patience, and understanding on her part to make sure her grandson reaches his full potential. Great day!

wow. they are so good with him.
that coach really knew her thing and that grandmother was so loving and patient. great to see people taking time for kids like Marcus.
This is things anyone could use really, no matter if your child have autism or not.
I don't have any kids myself yet, but I'm soon a nurse and I got really touched by this video, it's so beautiful.
I'm sure Marcus will do fine in the future with this support he's got.
Thank you for sharing this video. It's so inspiring!
