Totally love the STi.. mines only a stock PPP (300bhp) and an E60 M5 wasn't pulling away all that quickly, obviously he was quicker but not by much- the driver didn't look very happy afterwards, I think he was expecting to completely smoke me. Hopefully mine should be running 350+ by the summer =D

Also they took that motor and made it better and they hooked it up to their incredible AWD system and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like the M5. I'll take a Subaru ANY DAY over any BMW.

The STi is a rally car with good low end torque and the gearing to match for awesome accel from a launch to about 100mph and the M5 is an autobahn tuned car made for high speeds with more horsepower than torque and longer gearing for high speed driving. That's why from a stop STi's will be close with an M5 for a while, a great example is a 1/4 mile drag race, but from a 50mph roll the STi would get owned.

I love watching STi's launch. The STi is a rally car with good low end torque and the gearing to match for awesome accel from a launch to about 100mph and the M5 is an autobahn tuned car made for high speeds with more horsepower than torque and longer gearing for high speed driving. That's why from a stop STi's will be close with an M5 for a while, a great example is a 1/4 mile drag race, but from a 50mph roll the STi would get owned.

This wasn't a race, it was a humiliation. You can't pitch a STI against against a 500hp M5. The STI was built with one thing in mind... RALLYING. Interesting to watch though, great vid!

The M5 driver had an awful start :-/ You're not just paying for the performance (although that contributes a good $30k to the price tag), you're paying for the luxury of a 5-series.

Apples vs. Oranges debate. STI is a rally car, not a race track car. The M5 is designed for road and track, the STI curves, mud, snow, rain ... anything! The STI is a lot more practical and economical (and cheaper), but it has more bang for the buck. M5s are beautiful machines ... nuff said.

The STi is a nice car but come on we are talking about an M5!! The M5's Top end speed is to much for the STi.. The STi's AWD will get a good jump of the line but thats about it..

Just cause it's turbo and AWD doesn't make it unbeatable loser. Sure it's a good car but seriously man that car just doesn't have what it takes BUT I am not saying it's impossible for an STI to beat an M5 just saying that one doesn't. And you obviously know nothing of german engineering to make that comment about a BMW cause they're some of the most solid cars out there and have done much more with n/a engines then japanese cars. I like jap cars but most "super" jap cars seem to need turbo hmm

na there not jsut have huge engines and are tuned by the factory. where as a scooby is only a 2.0 turbo or in this case a 2.5 turbo. but if it is 350 bhp i wud of expected it to of won this, but anyways if u can beat someone to 100 then i think it is saf to say u have won really lol

i wasnt talking shit about german engineering considering i owned a 190 mercedes 2.3-16 with brabus wheels, supersprint exhaust, COSWORTH heads etc. if you know nething about european cars you know thats 1-1600 brought to the US. and i wasnt talking shit about mpwer.. i was talking to the user mpwer for being ignorant. also yea i agree alot of jap super cars are turbocharged, but 90 percent of them are under 3.5 litres not a 5litre v10. and you know m3 people love forced induction just as much

Yes ok,i have a sti prodrive 320 hp and a friend of mine m5 400 hp.UNTIL 260 HE HAD A BIG PROBLEM.this m5 is 507 hp so come onnnnn.Impreza is not made for 260 km races.The samurai is made for FUKKING FUNNNNN!!!!!!bEFORE YOU DIE,TRIE THE STI.
