  • cooles video, schau dir das mal an! ;))

  • This song was used in the educational TV Program for the kids.

I often heard it in the TV program.

  • ABBA is my favorite band of all time (check my profile if you don't believe me) and they were NOT a disco band, but even I have to admit Dschinghis Khan did disco better than they did. Thank God for Buffalax introducing me to them.

And on a side note- I'm about 30 years too late, but I've fallen HARD for Henriette Heichel. That look from 2:34 - 2:36 is mesmerizing..........

  • @fredj

    She still looks good today...

  • @segajeep She sure does- at the expense of doing anything productive with my life in the last week, I've been watching every Dschinghis Khan video I can find. She might look better in the 05 reunion concert than she does here, if possible.........

  • I just discovered this band today. I heard several tracks, but this is my favorite. A song about a german literary sidekick? Excellent. It's kind of like someone singing a song about Sancho Panza...with a little bit of John Jacob Jingleheimerschmidt tossed in for good measure because of the length of Halef's name. Hey, Hadschi! Ho, Hadschi!

  • What I would give to see these guys live in their prime....

  • RUSSIAN VILAGE PEOPLE

  • @2submit GERMAN !

  • Best songs, best costumes, Dschinghis Khan :-)

  • Have you noticed that all microphone cables are cut?

  • @zdodzet playback... and thats fucking retarded

  • @zdodzet yea realy are cut...! :D

  • @zdodzet they playback the cables are short to look

  • @zdodzet then obviously they can sing loud enough for everyone to hear

  • @zdodzet Those are early cordless mics I think, the little "cables" off the end are the receivers I believe...Or they are just lip sinking

  • @zdodzet Of course, otherwise they would trip on them whilst dancing.

  • @zdodzet back then, that was their form of "wireless"

  • @zdodzet an artistic choice :)

  • @zdodzet Those aren't cables; they're antennae. When this was filmed, wireless mikes were still fairly limited.

  • @zdodzet : those are Antennas. Those are the 80ties ,last century.

  • @zdodzet their just that good LOL

  • @zdodzet Didn't they sing tis song?

  • @zdodzet Didn't they sing this song?

  • @zdodzet those are antenna for wireless microphones !! old technology !

  • @DarkAvengerVIM there's loretta lynn but i'm not sure if she's still perfoming or not O.O

  • 2:11 - 2:50

    My favorite part =D

  • Hadschi isn't a name, its a title for the moslems, when they were in mekka! HIs real Name is alos not "Hadschi", it's Halef Omer...

Gengisco

  • Thumbs up if you seek they Others songs because of Mistery Guitar MAN!

  • @sp4wnrk2 did you hear dschinghis khan (the song) because that's a good one

  • This is Frederik lol....

  • always the same formula......................

  • amava

  • Dschinghis Khan is like the russian Village People except with some women. Seriously these people can make some catchy ass songs even if i cant understand a thing.

  • @krazy4videogames maybe one of the reasons we think their so catchy is because we don't understand what their saying.

it would explain why miley cyrus become so popular...

  • epic costumes!

  • Cooler than everyone else today in my opinion.

  • That Lady Gaga could learn from these guys. They have pretty modest costumes and can actually dance, she is overwhelmingly dramatic with EVERYTHING she does. These women and men are sexy! They all play an important role and can work well TOGETHER!

  • 31 people pressed the wrong button

  • I love this song.

Dschinghis Khan was an awesome group,

    bad ass vocals,

    bad ass dancing skills,

    just pure bad assness. !!!

  • I just wish I knew what they were saying so I could love these guys more. :D

    Oh, well.

  • @animegx45 steppenwind . de has the German lyrics .

  • they are even sometimes opening their mouthes to the playback music (-;

  • Me encanta esta canción. Los vestidos están de puta madre.

  • 00:25

Mic error...that guy with the hat XDDD

I love Dschinghis Khan but you can't forget the Mic!!!!!!!!!!!! XDDDDDD

    Love this song!

    Hadschi Halef Omar...(8)♫♪

  • GOOD!

  • All that doesn't matter- this stuff fucking rocks! I mean, what kinda music do we have now? People singing about love, or teenagers being pouty. Sometimes it's both at the same time. Dschinghis is doing exotica! They have moves, they have great melodies, and the costumes are a hoot. These people are really going for it. Can I get an Amen?

  • @unclejoeoakland Amen.

  • :D this rhythms were unique and catchy with Dschinghis Khan :P

  • catchy songs

  • the real Dschinghis Khan is way better than the new cover band band "Rocking Son"

  • Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the dude in the top hat looks like Willy Wonka.

  • @ronthecyborg Wolfgang Heichel sure looks like willy wonka in this one. :)

  • crikey i must have watch these guys fourty times in the last two days i love this stuff ,i remember when they were on the eurovision i taped the song off the radio ,brill fab.

  • I can't believe there was such a backlash against disco. Their costumes are amazing and the songs are so well written, It would be so great to see a band do something like this today.

  • RIP Louis Potgieter, the life of the band. <<33 He was so handsome and such a talented artist. c:

  • Rocking dance moves.

  • This sounds like a cross between Boney M and Alcazar :)

  • The guy in the top hat was probably like "I'll go out there but I'm not dressing up like a gay Saracen."

  • i love this group

  • I understand only the chorus, but I'm a huge fan of May, and I love this.

  • steve bender's a genie? o.O

  • I don't understand a word, but I love it

  • Pijama party!!!! Seriously, I love this song.

  • 0:15 my fav part ^,.,^

    they are good!

  • I love this group. Wov!!!

  • Yay! MID 70S GERMAN TELEVISION!

  • @angelmarine1292 its actually late 70's or early 80's a Dschinghis Khan was only formed in 1979 for the sole purpose of performing in the Eurovision Song Contest

  • ♥

  • Ja, das fetzt !!!!

    Grossartig !!!!!!!!

    Tolle Band!

Schade um Louis Hendrik Potgieter. :-((

  • All the group I love, but my favorites are Louis and Henriette

  • eeeeeee very gooood!!!!!

  • EXCELLENT*******

  • the guy with the ridiculously awesome large hat and awesome beards is my favorite!

  • Why does it matter if he was gay? He was a nice person, an amazing dancer, and extremely handsome. Who cares which gender he preferred at the end of the day?

  • BTW, not that I should be encouraging you, but he wasn't gay. He was at very least bisexual, as he had a WIFE. But my previous comment still stands: IT. DOESN'T. MATTER.

  • @romulanprincess , nobody cares...

  • @SuperSnorkfroken Possibly. But I'll defend Louis Potgieter forever.

  • @romulanprincess wait who was gay in this group???

  • @keating234 Officially? No one. But some people think that Louis Hendrik Potgieter (the tall, mustached man in the tall turban in this video, "Dancing Santa" in the Moskau video) may have been. There is almost no evidence to support this however, other than the fact that he died of AIDS. Which doesn't even mean anything, as AIDS is not limited to gay men!

  • @romulanprincess I kinda suspected that too. As far as AIDS, back then AIDS was pretty much limited to the gay community in America but it branched out eventually considering he was diagnosed in the 80s I can't really conclude anything because AIDS was branched out by then. But if he was diagnosed in the 60s or 70s it would be pretty much no doubt.

  • @keating234 That's true! Although Louis was living in South Africa at that point, which did, and sadly still does, have a terrible AIDS epidemic going on. :( Still though, whether he was or he wasn't, I don't even care, he was amaaazing and nothing can change that!! :D :D :D

  • @romulanprincess and as you say "he's extremely handsom" you also think "dammit, he's gay"

  • @IHereVoices Haha!! Not to mention, about 30 years older than me as well. XD

  • @romulanprincess so you like older men, there such a problem with that?

    ;P

  • @IHereVoices No, but to be fair, he's only about 28 in this video anyway XD

  • @romulanprincess ah, now it makes sense that he died from aids

  • @romulanprincess Sexual preferences make no impact on performance

    this is a beautiful song

  • @romulanprincess well said!!!!

  • how would you know as i've studied basic medicine I know that drug users (Ice and heroin user) are at higher risk of contracting HIV than Homosexual men

  • lmfao the guy with the top hat

  • best comic band ever I always loved you Kahn with village people you are my heroes ! ps. Im not gay and thank you for posting

  • Great song. It's 'Moskau level'...

  • This band is pure good vibes... :-D

Thanks for upload this video!!!!

  • hahhahahahahahahahaa!!!!!!

    demaaaaaisss !

  • If you listen closely, you can hear "Hadschi Halef Omar Ben Hadschi Abul Abbas Ibn Hadschi Dawud al Gossarah" which is the full name of the guy...

  • what does the title mean???

  • @Yune2ofdoom It's the name of a fictional character from Karl May's Orient-series.

Karl May is that guy that created the Winnetou series too.

  • It's the name of an old fictional character. His full name is in Jasonbobdude's comment.

  • It means "hadji Halef Omar son of hadji Abul Abbas son of hadji David of Gossarah." A hadji is one who has completed the hadj, the ceremonial pilgrimage to the Kaabah shrine in Mecca, which Mohammed said all Moslems ought to perform at least once in their lives, if they could afford to do so.

  • Dschingisz Khan is best 80's disco bands. Thanks especially from Mongolia!

  • Geil !!!

German Disco at its best !! :-)))

  • why are they talking about halef omar? what's the meaning of the lyrics

  • tolle gruppe

Excelente

  • Its the Platinum Willy Wonka!!! :P

  • You know, they rarely ever show Leslie Mándoki. And if you guys don't know who he is, he's the guy with the mustache.

  • And hes the green one in moskau :)

Leslie is my favorite in the group

    HES SO ENERGETIC :D

  • Leslie is my favourite too! He and Louis are sooooo cute!

  • Sure the singers were photogenic but unlike most of today's singers, these guys and girls could actually sing.
