Hahaha people can't stand a bit of criticism. 3 thumbs down on my comment, meh! If you wanna do your own version, that's fine. You can pick any guitar you want and show us how to do it in your own style and sound. But, if you wanna make a cover like that, at least pick the appropriate axe and gear so you can get some proper tune like Freddy and Eric. So a ES-335 or a guitar like that would be sensible. Despite this, your playing is nice; it's the sound that's just too clanky for me, not punchy.

Good for you, gabfreak. There is nothing wrong with having a competitive attitude towards other guitarists. Blues and jazz players are famous for it. Clapton once said when he first started playing, he was determined to be the best guitarist in his town. After he achieved that, he set his sights on being the best guitarist in London....then all of England. That competetivness you feel is healthy.

You lack feeling and soul. Yes you know where to put your fingers, but it was off-time and out of touch with what Freddie King could have ever wanted it to sound like. I advise daily practice and LOTS of it. Listen to the original and try to emulate that.

not bad, not bad... but, you have to "feel" the rythm better. A very good exercise is to play f.ex. scales with a metronome, play It over and over and over again. When you got it good, take up the speed of the metronome
