The Green Trolly street cars still exist. i see them now and then. they're also in Yellow and Orange now and run along the waterfront by the wharf. To be honest, SF hasn't changed much in 30 years. That's about to change when they build the new Downtown South of Market with 90 storie skysrapers and the new Transbay Terminal. I miss the old SoMa from the 80s :(
The tracks on Market Street date back almost 100 years now. And there used to be four, if you can believe it! Before there was a Metro, all the rail lines ran on the street. The ones we have now, and many more that have since been converted to trolley coach or motor coach.
This was incredible to see - I was a San Francisco bike messenger in 1980, and not only do I remember all those old green streetcars, but I also recognise the bike messenger at 1.24, he was a mate of mine called Paul, all those years ago. He must be really old now, I am. Amazing.
are you the one who sent this to paul, cause he sent me the link but didn't mention you or your comment.
be interesting if you were both looking at the same thing, though i get why you might. pearl thought it was funny that you mentioned that he must be old now. then she said she guessed you guys weren't in touch any more. too bad, really.
baranel, Try sending a messge to him via his YouTube profile. Would be fun to connect them.
I used to race up and down Market Street on my bike around them. Spent my childhood riding the green streetcars, the K, L, M, N, and J Church... ahh, memories and age.
I'm glad S.F., more than most cities, has had the wisdom to keep so much of its street transit and architecture.
Wow - this is the year I moved to San Francisco - great seeing the buses, trolleys and cable cars. Thanks for posting!

This is a great video. Before the F-line came along, I never knew why those tracks were there on Market Street.

Nice video covering Muni. Flyer E-800, GMC New Look, PCCs, Boeing LRV. I never seen the bus wash before. Thanks for sharing the video.
