According to SJP, DF said to her something along the lines of, "I know I've been called the worst actress of all time, but if Tim Burton directed me, I could've been good, too." It seems that there was a misunderstanding. I think DF was trying to compliment Tim Burton. But, SJP took it as an insult. She thought DF meant "You're only good because Tim directed you." So, SIP said that DF was the worst actress sort of as a comeback.

The line as I recall is Orson Welles lamenting they (Universal) wanted hm to hire Heston and make him a Mexican (as scripted). Welles only had an acting part in the movie until Heston suggested Welles for the directing job and Welles decided on keeping Heston's character as a Mexican.

um, it actually IS untrue. I just watched the interview myself because it seemed very out of character for SJP. Ok partly that can be explained away on the unflattering script. Here's the problem though, when meeting her face to face SJP should have been very very open and welcoming. She made a lot of money on that movie only because there actually was a Delores Fuller to begin with.
SJP didn't badmouth her to her face, she was talking about her character to others and DF overheard - It's hard to ditinguish her character from the person when you ARE the person and DF was offended and took things Wayyyyy out of context as a result.

I got the Ed Wood dvd boxed set, and I have to tell you Glen or Glenda was very entertaining to watch. I thought it was so bad it was good! I'm glad it was made. I don't know if this is an apt analogy but like in baseball, when you see a game with so many errors, it really becomes fun and even more entertaining. Ed Wood movies are just like that!

Actually, I have the impression that sarah jessica parker is more of a man faced transvestite than a sexy woman. SJP is easily the worst thing in the Ed Wood movie. Sorry Dolores feels slighted, I'm not a huge fan of Ed Wood's movies. The appeal of the film by Tim Burton is purely due to Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi.

Well, successful or not, I think SJP sucks ass, is without talent, and this old broad seems classier and wiser than the entire cast and the writers for that awful piece of crap HBO passes for a show. In fact, Ed Wood wrote and directed better stories than have ever been shown on that shitty vehicle. Sara Jessica Parker really acted low class. If Delores's account of the Letterman Show is untrue, it would be so easy for a reporter to get the tape and check it for himself. Parker's comment "worst actress in the history of film", she should have understood that this was the landscape of movies in the 1950's and still it was low class of her to say that about Delores of whom she was paid very well to portray her in an academy award winning movie: Ed Wood!

um, it actually IS untrue. I just watched the interview myself because it seemed very out of character for SJP. She did say she was playing the worst actress in Hollywood but she didn't say it to DF's face and had no idea the woman was even there - she wasn't badmouthing her she was just explaining the character she was portraying. And it's not SJP's fault that the script was written to be unflattering to DF

Ok partly that can be explained away on the unflattering script. Here's the problem though, when meeting her face to face SJP should have been very very open and welcoming. She made a lot of money on that movie only because there actually was a Delores Fuller to begin with.

SJP didn't badmouth her to her face, she was talking about her character to others and DF overheard - It's hard to ditinguish her character from the person when you ARE the person and DF was offended and took things Wayyyyy out of context as a result.
I think it's kind of silly that all these people are just automatically taking her side without checking facts and name calling SJP when it seems DF was more insulted by what she perceived rather than how she was approached.

Yes thank you and very funny! I actually forgot what I said 3 months ago in the middle of summer! I got the Ed Wood dvd boxed set, and I have to tell you Glen or Glenda was very entertaining to watch. I thought it was so bad it was good! I'm glad it was made. I don't know if this is an apt analogy but like in baseball, when you see a game with so many errors, it really becomes fun and even more entertaining. Ed Wood movies are just like that!

You're right- success is all that matters in Hollywood. For a time. Then movies that had huge opening weekends are completely forgotten, and on the other hand, young people are on Youtube decades later still discussing Ed Wood- who never had nor really made any money. I guess it's up to the individual to decide which they'd prefer.
