Awesome performance! I love this piece on violin!
I highly recommend anyone looking for a rendition of "Fresh Hills of Cein Mhic Cainte" played on violin-purchase the version by Sweetfire (Shannon Miller, Laurel Thomsen) from the album of the same name-it's avail for purchase on iTunes, Amazon; etc. ;0)
I loved this music from the first time I heard it on Avonlea, to me it seems so full of sorrow and beauty all at once, and I honestly don't know why its not played more Awesome job.
The tune is Ur Cnoc Cein Mhic Cainte (The Fresh Hills of Cein Mhic Cainte), a very old Irish tune and song, although I believe the air is older than the words. Daithi Sproule sings a lovely version of this song. It is worth listening to as it is from singers that most Irish players get the inflection and ornamentation for playing airs. I believe it is on the "Trian 2" album. Very nice playing, although some slides and grace notes here and there would
give it greater depth and beauty. Lovely playing, though! This tunes is not very commonly played these days, despite its beauty. Gus Pike/Avonlea was also the first place I ever heard this tune "played" ;)
Great job!! I LOVE this song!!! :)
