  • Unite against U.S. & E.U imperialism!!!

  • What movie is this from?

  • Funny that such old ideological arguments can still inflame people. That must speak to the power of this film, even if it's not a satisfying film for either side.

  • Clowns are anti-Marxist

  • Maoism is anticommunist and not at all Marxist. Maoism is Chinese Stalinism, a totalitarian falsification of Marxism Leninism.

Those French leftists of the 1960's were so stupid to believe that Mao was the good communist. Mao and Pol Pot both killed millions.

    Never again!

  • IM READING MAO' RIGTH NOW

    :D

  • i want a radio gun like that. hella rad

ps everything they say is entirely correct given the setting.

  • I totally disagree, European Maoists of the time were totally incorrect as to their views of the Vietnamese perspective. The North Vietnamese were extremely wary of Chinese assistance because they saw the war as a continuing struggle for NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE and UNITY. That's why the same regime, which has many veterans of the War at the top is very friendly and reconciliatory to American co-operation. The Americans over-estimated the Maoist dimension as did the Europeans in a different way.

  • @brcx300

American intervention was promoted upon the basis of the "domino theory"--that without American troops to prevent it, all of SE Asia would fall to Chinese Communist domination. The Vietnamese, North and South, were always against the Chinese and for the Americans, and would have welcomed "real" American intervention--that's why I think you should totally agree instead of totally disagreeing--the whole mess was and to some extent still is absurd and stupid.

  • Godard was the ultimate french pretentious Maoist. Learn a thing or two about him before incorrectly analyzing his films plz.

  • I know that he was a sort of radical in his youth. Now that times has changed, he feels dissapointed with the world and makes gloomy films (Notre Musique)

  • Obviously you did not see the ending of this film, you prick.

Guillaume sells fruit on the streets, one of the girls is a prostitute, and the rest are poor students.

  • Oh, I did.

And poor students? I remember that the redhead tells the camera that she comes from

    a bankers family, so...

  • It's a portrait of the students that's both sympathetic to them, but also makes fun of them a bit for their background and naivete.

  • Who gives a shit about what people like. Let them watch whatever the hell they want to watch. If you don't like this movie or Godard then watch some other fucking movie.

  • I'm always love Jean-Pierre... XD

  • "only lemmings and sheep think godard is great ... which are you, a lemming or a sheep?"

And the drooling American teenagers lining up to watch some CGI-laden piece of escapist fantasy are not lemmings and sheep? "Oh, 10,000 BC I must see that!"

Even if Godard fans are "lemmings and sheep", at least they are being led by something resembling deeper philosophical thought.

That's more than one can say about whatever George Lucas or Spielberg craps out of their collective ass...

  • @siriusscholar I love both Godard and Spielberg in about equal measure (and they annoy me in about equal measure too) - I don't think that should be a contradiction. The only thing more boring than internet commenters who berate art films are internet commenters who berate Hollywood films.

  • Godard master

  • This is brilliant!

  • fucking genius!
