If you sing a lot of karaoke & you're a true singer & you know what harmony is, then you can hear the harmony in the background vocals and you'll actually like them because they create harmony. If they bother you then you need to practice your tone better and keep on it. Hear the harmony in it instead of focusing on the fact that there's two different notes going on.
