Nasty Xandros in that 'easy' mode...not so easy especially if want to install from source...or really do anything that normal Linux Users have become custom to.
what about msn, is there a linux msn alternative because if i get one of these i will mainly be using it for instant messaging with webcam? or should i jus get the xp version?
i recently ordered a 900HA with the 160gb mechanical hard drive.......anybody know if i will have problems with shocking the hard drive by accidentally dropping it?
xandros linux will drive you crazy if you are used to a full blown linux system, only one workspace, no console.
If you get one, do what I did install xubuntu or puppy linux!
As for playing DVD's, you are going to have to install libDVDcss. After that you can use mplayer. The music app is crap!! I would have like to have it come with XMMS.
help! like, do you need a wireless network for this to connect, or does it connect to satelite? and if i do need a network, can i just use a AT&T Connect Card?
Guy's... a bit of advice please... I want a small Mini Laptop for College this year to use every day. But i don't know whether to get this but with a 20Gb SSD or do i get the base model ACER ASPIRE ONE. Thanks for your help... Ryan xxx
well it all depends, hp 2133 is pretty nice, nice spaceing and shit its all up to you go to NYC i know all shops that sell all these products madd cheap, actually im buying one tomorrow lol
lets say i wanted to do light gaming (fallout, fallout 2, HL1, deus ex) and the eeepc i want is a linux based OS how does it hold up compaired to XP?, i heard somthing about using Wine to run the games but im not sure if that will work...can i just play the games off the HDD without some special modification?
Check the Wine compatibility page to see if the games you want are supported. Cedega is a pay-for equivalent that may have better compatibility with some games. UMPCs in general are a poor choice for gaming; the intel graphics chips and drivers aren't that great. If you really want to do all that, get yourself a regular laptop with NVIDIA or ATI graphics and Windows XP on it. Just my two cents.
No, its integrated. Even on upgradeable laptop graphics cards they're nowhere to be found and drivers are much less flexible than desktop drivers. Plus, the laptop with a standard low-end card may not be able to handle the high-end card power-wise.
They should install Kubuntu by default, and what's with adding the "Media Player" caption to Amarok's title bar? They could at least call it by it's name.
fuck linux. You Cant download ANYTHING and it has firefox 1 or 2

My XP model is opening iTunes faster than that music manager? Hmmm....
And is he rating Linux or the netbook? :| - "Linux Linux Linux"...
2 star from me... for a nice view of what Linux is on a netbook. But it isn't actually fast? :|

The openGL under linux or XP, works really well. This a different chipset to the i8xx series.

The Asus Eee PC includes Pidgin. So you can use YIM, AIM, Google Talk, or whatever else you have on this program.

What? Linux apps aren't built into it o.0
Openoffice might come preinstalled, but it's certainly not part of the OS.
Sort of like how MSOffice isn't built into windows.
