A very classic Stanley Clarke tune! Reminds of some rough times during the 1990's raising a family and trying to stay focused. BEST BASS PLAYER OF ALL TIME ! Stanley Clarke.
Stanely Duke PaulHardcastle Boney James Brian Cubertson Grover Washington Jr. I can never get tired of listening to their music ... the midas touch has been bestowed upon them and your @jazzmasterz ears:)
Anyone know where I can find ALL of the different "Boyz n the hood" soundtrack themes? Other than this and black on black crime I can't find any of the other ones featured in the movie.
@LORDEZE7 They used to be on here but not anymore I guess...I was looking for the other themes too; the one at the end when doughboy fades away...very good stuff
I always wondered if the if the saxophone is being played by the late great George Howard. This is my favorite from Stanley Clarke who is a great bass player.
@redtone11 its in the background where doughboy and the others get revenge for rickys murder playing in the car when there driving around looking to kill the guys who killed ricky
....if jaco was maradona, then surely stanley must be pele......pele is more beautiful than maradona..... maradona thinks he"s the king but knows deep down what"s the real thing... my third youtube comment, exage 2 the brink any track that liberates???????.......
As I said on a previous Stanley Clarke post, he has done his best work on John Singleton movies including this one as well Higher Learning and Poetic Justice. Thanks for posting this beautiful piece of contemporary jazz.
This song sounds great but it makes me feel sad. Makes me think of the scene when Ricky died at the end of the movie and all the sadness of the scene. Makes me think of all the mistakes I have made in my life that have led to regret and guilt and self-hatred and pain! Very very sad.
thanks!!!! i keep playing this tune on my computer.........so much that now i gone and brought at the movies'...hope u llike my response to 'lisa'.bob
Ooh I love this song from the bottom of my heart. It just makes you think about life. It puts you in that mood to just sit out under the stars and think about your life and how you can improve on it.
What a beautiful commentary about a beautiful song.I always feel like Stanley Clarkes music sounds like Life going by too.Lets pray more people open their hearts to Spiritual Love Music...

I didn't know about a dramatic bass theme from the movie. Was it possibly that Take 6 song?
sfap001 4 years ago
..'Black On Black Crime' was the track I was thinking of..(track 14 on the official soundtrack).
After a re-listen, it's more of a sax solo, but when watching the movie, they must have upped the bass..Clarke is seminal in his field.
Cheers.
