I just saw Mike Doughty perform in Maine last summer, he was great but he wouldn't play any of the Soul Coughing songs... i still had a great time, and he signed my show poster. Such a great lyricist.
@thebrendan03 not entirely true, I saw Mike Doughtery a bout 2 years ago and he was able to play songs written only by him. Fun show, his guitar got busted up at the airport so he pretty much patched it up with duct tape and played the show...good stuff.
saw them open up for Garbage @ Howlin Wolf in NOLA, '95-'96?, they hung out on the sidewalk after the show - ultra cool guys, still have my autographed shirt -- on stage they made Garbage look like.....well you can fill in the blank -- one of if not THE coolest bands from the '90s -- very cool unpretentious dudes too -- smokin live band
WOULD YOU LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN A VIDEO PROJECT? u know wut? maybe ur right. its kinda easy, but its too cool to notice that. sa-weet. i've heard that 'simplicity is the key'. perhaps u dont have to make music complicated just to make a good sound. interesting
I don't think "simplicity is key" is the best way to put it, I think "whatever sounds decent" is the key. But you're right, you don't have to make music complicated just to make it sound good, look at the beatles. Plus this music is very lyric dependant...
what the hell station and program was this on? i think i saw the same logo in the beginning of this video on a Steve Vai music video. is it one of those programs that actually play underground bands? i'd like to get to know of stations like that
Meanwhile, somewhere in Los Angeles, Beck Hansen says to himself, "Hey, maybe I'm not such a Loser after all!"

rooby vroom is legit one of the greatest albums i've ever listened to. so underrated and unpopular.

Read Doughty's new bio "The Book of Drugs." The idea of a reunion is laughable, beyond impossible. A full Beatles reunion is likelier.

@megavikingman He just focuses on his solo stuff...I think he has a good enough library of solo work to leave SC songs in the past...just my opinion

@Deauxboy666 I had also heard that there was a bad breakup with the band and that he is legally not allowed to play any Soul Coughing songs.
