  • children today are useless compared to this after about 60 years we created the worst generation

  • @TheGREATEST95 I used to feel the same way. But with the OWS this new generation is proving that they have what it takes too.

  • The only mistake this generation made was to create the "me'' generation that followed them.

  • @gwenshin Yeah, damn those evil baby boomers who fought for civil rights and equality. If only we had kept the perfect, segregated society the "greatest" generation loved so much.

  • @MrGrevy Eleanor Roosevelt did that long before it was "hip" to do so.

  • Greatest? I guess if you think a generation of misogynist chain-smoking assholes is great. When I was a young teen, your "greatest" generation was treating me and my friends like shit. Now your "greatest generation" is in their 70's and 80's and I don't give a rats ass what happens to them. You reap what you sow. Next time, be a little nicer to the teenagers you see. They do grow up you know.

  • @politicoochie09 Don't forget their gift to their children - the Vietnam war.

  • According to one man, they might have been "the greatest", but their offspring was filth of the Earth.

  • We have been told the greatest American generation are those who fought WW II ... True as long as you were White, Male, Hetrosexual and Christian.

If you were Black you might get hung if you looked at a white woman.

A woman's place was in the home only.

Killing a "queer" was usually not even investagated.

Non-Christians were considered fair targets for all kinds of hate. And these are the same people who brought us the Vietnam war. Let's get real.

I think we can do better don't you?

  • @MrGrevy Evidently we couldn't do better. It's sad you must be queer

  • @kurtusloew No, my backward friend. One does not need to be in a group to support their rights. I know that's probably a hard concept for you, but try to think a little bit.

  • I was more at home with the older folks growing up. They were and are my hero's the world is going to hell without them. I miss my WWII friends Lester paul US army air corp, Walt Catt USS Indianapolis, Gerodine Stroud US army WAC, Lee Fender US army D-day first wave, Uncle Richard Wilson US marines + Honor Guard on the USS Missouri when Japan surrendered, Fred Holmes US army. My best friend Pete Ready US army air corps.

  • Great video. These people set the example for us to live by, hard work, respect for others, common sense, grit, live within your means, and so on. May God bless them. Thank you.

  • There is no such thing as the greatest generation.

  • Greatest generation no doubt, but they did give birth to the worst.

  • @MoGreensEye Yes keep that nonsensical intergenerational conflict going! Why is that so important to you? You think the WWII generation - racist, sexist, homophobic, and responsible for the Vietnam war and turning half of Europe over to Stalin are great? You are a sick individual.

  • some of you are just idiot assholes. would love to see some of you fight the nazi fucks and the slopes in the pacific. some of you would just have wet pants and cry for your mommy's.

  • I cant wait until this generation of dumbass rednecks are all gone,

  • ww2 generation was great strong people the baby boomers were irresponsible partiers that were to focused on themselves there why the world is having all these problems today because they screwed up when they were i charge there contribution to the world was "the pill" so that they could have more sex they were selfish

  • I have a great idea....How about all of you with negative or non-sense "know it all" comments go play WII, and save the bullshit (plus responses, they roll off like water) for people who have family members or know of family members that served this era...Happy 86th Birthday dad, you made it this far, and you made it through Omaha beach, you are a true hero...

Let me see the big shot that has something to chime in about, you are showing your phucking age and IQ level to everyone if you activate!

  • I need a time machine, kids now adays i have nothing in common with:rap music, world of warcraft.......

  • The WW-II generation carried the most water but their parents generation was the greatest

Hard times make tough men (and women) their parents were born at the

turn of the century, fought WW-I, survived the Influenza Pandemic of 1918,

the Great Mississippi flood (1927) the Dust Bowl (1930s) and raised large

    familys during the Great Depression

They were the children of the pioneers and the workers of the industrial revolution

To the WW-II generation, I salute your parents!

  • @uzijohn You're kidding right? They gave us Vietnam and the debt we are suffering with.

  • May this generation finally meet peace.... shame they have to leave us...

  • America is bankrupt.

The greatest generation will rot in hell.

  • @queerbuzz not the greatest generation but some of the baby boomers might

  • The 'greatest generation' may have saved the world, but their offspring has ruined America. A majority of 'Boomers' do not share in the spirit of America, nor are they truely patriotic. They are greedy, self serving individuals that have disregarded a rewarding work ethic for get rich quick schemes. They have shredded the ability to manufacture what we need by purchasing foreign goods in mass, putting America at risk. Their children are no better. The system didn't fail them, their parents did.

  • true say

  • @sep0507 You hit it right in the nail! I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @gwenshin Thank you for your comment.

  • This generation used to be the greatest generation, unfortunately they forgot to protect the posterity of this nation, and now America is in a large heap of trouble. We have forgotten to take care of our infrastructure, or pay our bills, which has created a perfect storm that looms on our horizon. It was their greed, and their decision to make entitlement programs that have eaten everything else that contributes to todays generation that will be the downfall of America. We must learn, survive

  • Posterity: good word... makes me think of Posterior.. or giant great big backside full of cookies and donuts, which is all america makes me think of!

    ;)

  • (Part 5)

Again if this is such a terrible place for you to live, why not try the better places (which you must have researched, to criticize this one), and let us know how that works out for you. Best wishes! (And I mean that, sincerely).

  • (Part 4)

The reason: They dont come here seeing America as a land of racist oppression, but as a land of opportunity and freedom. Its a pity that more African-Americans dont learn from them, and do even better they have the advantage of already being citizens, and knowing the language, and having friends and a social structure to help them, if they allow themselves to do so.

  • (Part 3)

That is what REALLY has kept so many from making better lives for themselves and kept so many liberals in power for so long.

If White Racism (which does exist, just like Black Racism) has really controlled our culture, why is it that SO MANY immigrants from Africa and Asia, have done so well- here? Often they are well established with their own businesses within a single generation.

  • @banjocordian The polices of back in the 40s and 50s were far more liberal than today (fiscally, of course, not socially), which is why everyone who was willing to work was able to make a living back then. Why? Because of everything FDR stood for, that conservatives today are against: Labor laws, unions, minimum wage. Things that the greatest generation fought for, and was wiling to die for, their lazy, cheap, selfish baby boomer children (who are now between 50 and 70) want to take away.

  • (Part 2)

Well-meaning social programs (welfare, affirmative action, etc.) by (usually) white liberals have not served African-Americans well.

By institutionalizing- the lowered expectations and subservience of a permanent dependent class, it has kept them from trying to achieve independence and better themselves.

Any who do become conservative or libertarian are scandalized as Uncle Toms or Oreos.

  • @banjocordian My friend even if you were to take away those social programs and "liberate" people so to better themselves you on always going to have a lower class. One because there is only so many good jobs in a capitalist economy and two quiete frankly other people have more talents than others. I'm not saying African American's have any less talents than others, I'm just saying there is always gonna be a lower class and to dellude yourself into thinking there would not be is crazy

  • CB and SW621,

I fear you have been victimized by those who want to keep you on the political plantation (sorry), always feeling aggrieved, always blaming others for your reduced life opportunities, always a reliable voting bloc for the Democrats.

Ironically, -they- were often the racists of the 1960s (KKK Dem. Senator Robert Byrd, check Wiki), whereas most Republicans were not (going back to their first Presidential candidate, Abraham Lincoln).

  • @banjocordian Does the term Dixiecrats mean anything to you? The ones against civil rights were not liberals.

  • Pardon me for strolling by and noticing the contentious discussion. If I may ask:

    1. Racism and slavery, were always with society. The question is, Where did FREEDOM come from? What perspectives led to that?

    2. Many white people DIED fighting to end slavery in this country, and got nothing in return but a shallow grave. Please don't disrespect them by insulting others, today.

    3. If you think there are better places to live, why not give them a try, and let us know if the grass was greener.

  • racism caused civil war soldiers fighting for freedom to die in vain, they thought that after the civil war that freed slaves that were now U.S citizens would be treated equal but it took 100yrs for this to take place. so don`t blame me, im not responcible for white oppression of the blacks. this so called "greatest generation" was one of the worst pre civil war generations in U.S history, enlighten by the fact that blacks fought bravely and still were discriminated against when they got home.

  • well blsack could votew for 20 years after the civl war but the demcrats took it away from them

  • i know, my point is that like the civil war the victory of ww2 was the perfect opportunity for america to correct these wrongs made previously by our goverment. but the 40s generation, so called "greatest" would still not recognize or accept afro americans as equal to white americans. the so called 'greatest generations' was nothing more then another racist generation who supported white supremacy.

  • "greatest generation"! my a#*! how can a generation of racist, pre civil rights era, jim crow loving, segregated military, fake freedom fighters be considered great in anyThing but denying blacks their civil rights? this generation of whites were know different then the nazis, and all the ones that died with that hate for his fellow man in his heart is spending eterenity in HELL!

  • craigblast that is a pretty ignorant statement. My father was part of the greatest generation. His father was in the first great world war. He was 5 when markets crashed in 29. He spent most of his youth in a reform school during the depression. He fought in the 2nd World War and in Korea. You sit there and label the greatest generation as white. Well there were blacks who fought and slaved to make this country great too even without equal rights and they are just as much to be appreciated

  • So you watch what you say about people from that era as racist and you're no better than some ignorant skinhead blaming blacks for all the violence in america. If you can't appreciate those men and women who made this country great than you can screw

  • you can`t blame blacks for the violence in the U.S, especially since whites committ the same crimes that blacks committ but are more likely to not be charged or aquitted. and thats only YOUR assumptions so don`t use the 'skinheads' to offer YOUR racist opinions, it was fact that whites in this "greatest generation" was extremley racist, hateful, hyopcrites, and evil. you`re obviously a racist and you`re defenitlety ignorant. and if your father lost anything in WW2 it was in vain.

  • It's easy to talk about people who went through things that your spineless gutless carcass will never go through. They weren't great because they had everything figured out you ignoramous. They were great because for all their faults they brought this country from the ashes so that punks like you would have the freedom to post comments on youtube but your too stupid to realize that because you can't keep your eyes off of the color of people's skin

  • you`re ignorant like the men from this generation, maybe you should build a time machine? i bet racist ignoroids like you will fit right in1943. and i made my point against you and these men who think that they acually achieved something in WW2. they were excellent fighters with a lotta bravery but most were racist hypiocrits who were fighting and dying in vain. Americas greatest generation was the generation that fought and got their civil rights and that was the 60s generation, not the 40s.

  • AGain when did you serve in Iraq or Afghanistan punk?

  • You gotta be kidding me. The 60's? America revolves around civil right to you doesn't it. Well the 60's wouldn't have happened without the 40 dipshit. Respect the Greatest Generation

  • whites in the 40s could care less about nobody else but other white people, it was the 60s generation who broke the ignorance of racist segregation and injustice. you`re just a racist, or like 'craigblast' said some white guy who`s never been descriminated against. try to learn about your countries past and maybe you can put yourself in the same shoes black were in during the 1940s black soldiers fighting for people who hated them. you should be ashamed to call the 40s the greatest.

  • Oh will you be courteous enough to shut up, already? Not even a card-carrying member of the Ku Klux Klan will be defined entirely or mainly by his white supremacy views. But you are trying to shoehorn an entire generation's philosophy, livelihood and worldviews into a sinister caricature who daily asks himself, "What can I do to keep the nego down today?" People are infinitely more complicated, even us crackers.

Please at least have the sense to go trolling on another video.

  • "shut up already"? i made the comment last week you ignorant retard. "not even a KKK member would be defined by his racist views", lmao! then tell dipshit what will the KKK member be defined as? his taste in sheets or his love for burning crosses? all your retarded retorict is coming from a person who probably have never been discriminated against in their shallow life. what you should do is read a history book before you embarasss yourself with your ignorant opinions on you-tube again.

  • I mean you really need to stop posting comments, if you're just going to be calling us honkeys a bunch of racist Snidely Whiplashes, and ignoring larger contexts and underlying trends in history unless they apply to the issue of race.

I apologize for the lack of clarification about the KKK member. I mean that as a human being, with experiences and views and hopes and dreams of his own, he cannot be reduced to someone who likes to burn crosses and hang black people.

  • People are extremely complex and nuanced, even the ignorant retards. Interesting that you paint the Greatest Generation as a bunch of racists, but you fault other people for stereotyping. Talk about the pot and the freaking kettle! For weeks on this video's comment stream, you have been unreasonable, intolerant and racist until people accuse you of being such. Then you plead innocence even while driving a knife into them. You wanna keep trolling, I recommend you go do it somewhere else.

  • im not a racist so quit comparing me to one, and these "honkeys", "snidley whiplashes" comments remember these are your words. but this K.K.K member you keep refferring to join the Klan on his on, and from what i remember they are a hate group. plus you`re confusing me on the point you`re desperately trying to make.

  • You? Not racist? Why, because you happen to be black, so you can get away with saying the Jews deserved the Holocaust?

Can't you see the point, that people are more complex than the society they belong to, or the views they have about people's skin color?

You, sir, are mistaken if you think the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation were ENTIRELY in vain, just because a lot of them weren't "enlightened" yet on racial matters.

You're illogical and can't be reasoned with, so now I'm leaving.

  • believe or not "raptor" those blacks who made those anti semetic remarks aren`t related to me, nor do i know them or agree with them. your the worst kind of racist, you think all blacks agree with every black person that says something stupid or that we all know each other. and as long as this "greatest generation" denied black americans the same rights that they had then ain`t no way in hell they can be cosidered the greatest genration. its easy for a white person like you to not get it.

  • No, I'm only pinning those statements on you, and you won't get away with lying. Here are your own words:

"the jews chose their own fate....many stayed behind and took their chances. the only terrible thing done to the jews even after Hitler was in power was mass deportation, until the jews started resisting deportation with violence. this is when Hitler gave the order to start killing them."

I couldn't care less about skin color - more than I can say for you. All right, now I am gone for good.

  • how can you go fom me saying that i said that "jews deserved the holocaust"? to me saying the correct comment of "they chose their own fate"? these are two very different comments, it was you who said the "jews derserved the holocaust", you just twisted my words around so you could accuse me of being a racist like most of these people from this so called greatest generation. i warn you about embarrassing yourself on you tube.

  • nicely said

  • blacks fought and slaved to make this country great is the only truth to your statement, but these same blacks weren`t even allowed to win the Medal of Honor regardless of how well they fought. the highest award a black could win in war during the "greatest generation" was the Silver Star. the military was segregated and blacks not in the military couldnt even go to a white public school or vote. so tell me how can this generation be great? "the most Racist Generation" sounds more appropriate.

  • craigblast

My entire statement concerning the "Greatest Generation" and particularly my father are quite true. This country wasn't Utopia then and it isn't now. It makes me sick that what you bring up is that blacks couldn't earn the medal of honor regardless of how well they fought. Those men weren't fighting for medals and they sure as hell weren't fighting to be able to win them either. They were fighting for a better future.

  • how the hell do the truth make you sick? what should make you sick was the reality of that generation. and it was besides the point what they were fighting for, metals were obviously something to be proud of and achieved because GIs who fought during the war 70 yrs ago are still wearing them. your father probably was a racist also if he thinks that blacks weren`t discriminated against or denied the same benifits as whites. this generation only benifitted whites, who cared less about blacks.

  • Again I'm guessing a punk like you never put on a uniform for a second on behalf of this country. You don't know a damn thing about war and that's why you need to shutup about those who do. Men died to keep this country free and all you can do is call them racists. That's why I know you haven't put on a uniform.

  • buddy i was in the U.S.M.C, you probably couldn`t make the boys scouts. and i can tell that you revel in other people achievments because you lack the heart to achieve something yourself. moved from your moms house and quit watching war movies, maybe that way you`ll see the reality of life outside of your bedroom. and it`s only a free country when everyone is free, when blacks who fought WW2 couldn`t even vote, that`s not freedom, maybe for whites.

  • what unit?

  • and when did you tour in Iraq or Afghanistan Nancy. Or did you get out just in time. I'm going back in just a few months to my favorite little part of Iraq, Speicher so I can tour sunny Sammara. And I earned my blue cord and carried the pig my entire Army career. And when you get shot at you don't care what color the guy is next to you as long as he is shooting in the same direction you are you racist punk

  • Comment removed

  • Why don't you stop being so tunnel visioned and realize what those men on Normandy Beach died for back in June of 44. It wasn't about white or black with them. Just like it isn't now when you get hit by and IED and smoke and dirt is in your throat and eyes and all you care about is whether your buddies are okay. I'm gonna guess you haven't spent a day in uniform. Would I be correct in assuming that?

  • Draft dodgers and politically correct elitists who laughably whine at American "imperialism" pale by comparison as leaders, as teachers, and as friends.

May God bless and honor the Greatest Generation!

If only our society would turn off the news, pause their iPods, put down their half-caf mocha soy lattes, and take a break from commenting on Youtube :) . . . and set aside a moment to thank the veterans of WWII who are still alive to smile at someone appreciating their risks and sacrifice.

  • Nice tribute to the Greatest Generation. Let's appreciate them while they're still here.

  • Every generation has its flaws and shortcomings, often big ones. But in general, the Greatest Generation have earned the title. Just as they climbed out of the Depression, they were thrown into global war. And they didn't complain about it. Barely a soul dodged the draft or protested on the streets of DC. They knew evil when they saw it, and fought, bled and died to defeat it. You have a right to tarnish that legacy, but remember: they are the ones who made sure you would get that right.

  • lol, "they knew evil when they saw it"? didn`t these very same people you`re reffering to see that the afro americans who saw went and conquered also were being denied the very same freedoms that led then to go to war in the first place? i commend them for fighting a good fight but many were hypocrits if they actually thought they were fighting for freedom while denying it in their own land. even Winston Churchill didn`t understand why the U.S a "free" country had a segregated military.

  • I'm honestly sorry that America had catching up to do in racial integration. And I already acknowledged it as a flaw of that time. But we must give credit where it is due. If America was truly hypocritical, it would have been killing Jews in concentration camps of its own, but the worst we had at that time was segregated drinking fountains and the KKK. Yeah, that's a lot of *evil* compared to Hitler.

You've repeated yourself a lot here. Please either say something new or let it go and grow up.

  • the jews chose their own fate. Hitler before he became furur wrote a book call "my story", in his book he told everyone what he was gonna do to the jews if he were to be furur, the smart jews read the writing on the wall and fled to the U.S, but many stayed behind and took their chances. the only terrible thing done to the jews even after Hitler was in power was mass deportation, until the jews started resisting deportation with violence. this is when Hitler gave the order to start killing them.

  • denyng millions of afro americans their civil rights is only a "flaw" to the people who weren`t affected by it. but to those who were affected by it, it was a "massive expression of hate". many blacks soldiers fought and went back to the states thinking because of their sacrafice that things would be a little different, but nope. America was just as racist then it was before the war started. plus the american soldiers was known for their constant complaining.

  • Thank you so much! Absolute Heroes, all of you!

  • The only thing they did wrong, was raise their kids in some Utopian bullshit that took up the 50's 60's and 70's. Fuck the baby boomers.

  • So the greatest thing someone can possibly be is a soldier? There's no glory in war.

  • No, but there IS glory in fighting Nazi oppression.

  • "fighting nazi oppression"?? and at the same time oppressing african americans, sounds like a hypocrisy. their has never been a great generation in a country that has a history of hate like te U.S has.

  • my ass! as long as this was pre Civil Rights era this was just another Racist Generation. blacks weren`t allowed to vote and the military was Segregated, blacks who gave there lives for this Country weren`t allowed to receive the Medal of Honor because it was reserve for whites only, America even allowed German p.o.w`s being shipped to the states by train to replace the black troops who were riding in the passenger cars to ride the cattle cars. this country was know different then Nazi Germany.

  • They are the greatest generation because they saved the world

  • My father was a part of the greatest generation and I saw something in him and others in that generation that seperates them from those generations since. So for people like AnteroC77 I'll explain just this. They were great because they didn't cry like babies like you have been doing on this list of comments. What a 2 bit sissy. I bet you never even put on a uniform have ya son.

  • Plus 10,000 they didnt cry like lil bitches even though they dealt with hardships we couldnt imagine today. As for those black troops...my hats off! They did what had to be done without expecting accolades just like everyone else. My God we are turning more punk everyday!

  • Oh stop this 'Greatest Generation' nonsense. No generation is greater than any other. The whole idea is just absurd.

  • Great vid man,and to anyone who doesn't respect the greatest generation fuck you.

  • Congrats! The Greatest Generation protected us from one set of Nazis but couldn't help us when it came to the Nazis in government right now (the Bush family). Yeah, Prescott Bush was a Nazi. Give yourselves a good pat on the back...that's all the reward you will get after you die.

  • Oh yeah..lets not forget how many of the Greatest Generation still looked at African Americans as slaves. But of course, they are reluctant to take credit for such things as that.

  • Yes I agree. This "greatest generation" was exceptional, but how did they treat Blacks and other people of color? I had the misfortune of working as a caregiver for some of these greatest generationers, and they put me down and were disrespectful towards me. Only less than 1% were truly great.

  • No disrespect to what they had overcome. However, it's a White man war that drag the entire world into it. Axis of the Evil are white plus Japs and it should be White man to clean up their own mess!

  • Nice, real nice. I guess ALL countries and continents should take exclusive care of themselves huh? Where does that put your country? Is it in turmoil? Has it ever needed help in any way from an outside source? If not, why ask, or demand, entitlement in the form of "help"?!

  • "No Generation can fairly be described as better, or worse, than any other. They simply have different locations in history, and thus different needs, desires, fears, obsessions, blind spots, opportunities for greatness, tendencies toward tragedy. Each generation does what it must, within the context of the history and generational constellation into which it was born." Strauss and Howe

  • Dumb. Not all generations do what is required. Some, like the "Greatest Generation" did rely on themselves. Today's generation walks around in bliss waiting for someone else to hand things to them.......we will pay for this apathy and entitlement crap.

  • As a fellow Gen Xer we will be forced to fix al lot of things, but that is all just part of Generational Dynamics. If you want to see a very interesting look at how the 4 Generational Types work together to create Great Generations, you should read "Geneations: The History of America's Future 1584-2069" by Strauss and Howe. I think it will demostrate to you the role all generations must play, and how they must work together if we are to suceed.

  • I love that time in History,,I would never have been as brave,,I am one of those sissy boomers.

  • Very well done......hurrah and thank you to the greatest generation......

  • This is one of your videos that I really enjoyed. It is well constructed and well put together.

  • 5 stars from The Dexter Doggie Channel.

  • I really like your videos in general, but I treat patrionism as I treat any religion: irrational.

  • I don't know that I would classify this video as a patriotic video, but one I made to honor my parents generation.

  • Allright, sorry if I was too hasty.

  • @Apjooz How the hell is patriotism irrational. I think you are the one who is irrational.

  • @UndercoverCracker

If you have to ask you'll never know.

  • @Apjooz I love how types like you have an "I art holier than though" attitude. You don't have any idea what you are talking about. Disagreeing with the government and having pride in one's nation is different. Instead of focusing on the negatives in life how about focusing on the positive. You will get further in life.

  • @UndercoverCracker

First of all, why feel proudness? Second, usually people feel proud when they find 2 or 3 things that are great, but they pass the 100 things that are abysmal.

  • @Apjooz I don't know about the tiny country of Finland but here I have plenty to be proud about. I may not agree with the goverment a lot of the time but I am still proud of this country. I am actually proud we saved Finland from being taken over by Nazis back in World War II.

  • @UndercoverCracker

We were allies with the Nazis in WW2.

  • @Apjooz Oh shit........Well aren't you glad you lost.

  • @Apjooz thou*

  • Good job!
