Plus, having more young people in the system that aren't sick is supposed to bring down prices cuz there's more money to treat people with pre-existing conditions. Instead, not buying into the plan will be made illegal, and people will be penalized for non-compliance. And if the present system of Medicare is any indication, what we will get will not be anything like what was promised. It will more likely be very expensive.

Plus, having more young people in the system that aren't sick is supposed to bring down prices cuz there's more money to treat people with pre-existing conditions. And I think there's something in the HC bill that says providers have to spend a certain percentage of the money on care, not fatter profits.

@ashide1 If it were favorable, it wouldn't have to be forced. If seniors benefited from this plan, it could simply be offered on the open market - the presumed "obvious" benefits would then win out over the plans already in place.
Instead, not buying into the plan will be made illegal, and people will be penalized for non-compliance. And if the present system of Medicare is any indication, what we will get will not be anything like what was promised. It will more likely be very expensive.

Hey everybody here's an interesting fact:
If we were to actually follow the Constitution this wouldn't even be a debate inside congressional walls, because health care is something the individual states are supposed to decide on, it's not a Federal matter. Despite this, many people seem to like to debate this as if it's the Fed's responisblity, it's not, it's your local government's. If you want health care reform, you need to vote for it on a local level.

No one except you and American conservatives call fascism a form of socialism. The creator of fascism calls it the opposite of socialism. Fascists executed the leader of the Socialist Party. Under Mussolini, the wages of workers fell to 1/3 of France's.
Lenin wasn't much of a socialist in his policies, either. Although the condition of Russia at the time after Civil War partly led to that. Both the right-wing White Army and the left-wing Red Army committed atrocities against their sides.

@DrCruel That would be why they're helping lo-income people pay for it. How do feel about the people that pay for healthcare paying higher rates to cover the people without it? Because that's exactly what's happening. All those free visits to the ER aren't exactly free you know.

@HemiHead66 If you are poor, then "free" health care is the minimal necessary to qualify - if that. Meanwhile the bureaucrats that manage this "free" system get government-stylepay, benefits, pensions ...
In other countries with better health care, the rates for care are lower because they aren't subsidized. Doctors have to charge affordable fees, or people won't go to them. In countries with subsidized health care, however, the rates are as bad as ours - and care is rationed.

And I think some of these other countries with better rates and no subsidies don't have the same greed based system as ours. They don't have Wall Street healthcare. If our healthcare wasn't subsidized, 90% of the population couldn't afford it. What exactly are you are you looking for, free HC? You work and don't want to contribute?

@HemiHead66 I've lived in the Beltway, and have seen government employees at "work" close up when I was in the US military. It's the sort of thing one can expect when workers do not have to worry about free market principles like competitiveness, and are guaranteed a good job without having to produce results.
A government-based system of ownership of health care, with the public forced to deal with either a government run monopoly or contractors associated with it, IS a "greed-based system".

@DrCruel Yeah, I'll agree with that. Obama did talk about really fixing healthcare at one point, but you saw what happened. Millions were spent pushing socialist propaganda. So, we got stuck with watered down half-ass healthcare that "might" keep costs from rising as fast as they have been.

@usam1981 Like I'd have a hard time finding a job that was created. I can show you a few companies that broke ground on new plants for batteries for electric cars. Wind and solar plants, too. And then there was GM that the Pubtards wanted to put out of Biz. They made the decision to give them loans cuz it would've taken out about 3 million jobs. Now GM opened plants back up, and built others. Some here, one in Mexico, but a shitload of people went back to work. And they're paying the money back

And this wasn't no little shit downturn like Bush's over investment in internet crap, the "Global Economy" was wiped out. And when Obama gives unemployment numbers, they're only estimates. A team of economists tell him, and he tells us. Those ass-wipes have never been right in their lives.
