The rule CLEARLY states that if a player is hit on the aftermath of a follow through of a shot, there's no infraction. Stop whining, the right call was made. Had the WRONG call been made and Gretzky was penalized, the Leafs would still have had to win that game or game 7 (which they didn't) and they would have then had to beat the team that took out LA in 5 games. Nobody seems to complain about Foligno not being penalized vs STL for kicking Cujo in the head in OT costing the Blues that round...

The rule CLEARLY states that if a player is hit on the aftermath of a follow through of a shot, there's no infraction. Stop whining, the right call was made. Had the WRONG call been made and Gretzky was penalized, the Leafs would still have had to win that game or game 7 (which they didn't) and they would have then had to beat the team that took out LA in 5 games. Nobody seems to complain about Foligno not being penalized vs STL for kicking Cujo in the head in OT costing the Blues that round...

@Zxceelxuz I've seen it a million times on a million feeds. Fraser may have appeased some Leafs fans but, the right (non)call was made on the play according to the NHL rulebook. Of course even had he blown the call and given a penalty wrongfully, as you agreed, it still wouldn't have necessarily meant the Leafs would have won that game or the following series thanks to a horribly blown call in their favour, like the one they got when Foligno was allowed to kick Cujo in the head vs STL anyway.

I'm so sick of how they protect certain guys/teams...every stinkin year the refs help one team or another...here's two huge examples from this years playoffs...one-game six Eastern Conference semi-finals...with less than 5 minutes to go, Zdeno Chara starts a fight, which brings a suspension. They waved it. Two-Stanley Cup Final...Ville Leino is targeted with blatant boarding and elbows,in front of referees. he could have been seriously hurt! The NHL needs to clean up its act

@jimih64 yup he does. He mostly just laughs though, as do we all; some of the stuff you guys come up with is pretty clever, although I'll admit some of it is downright terribly mean. A bit frightening actually. I should know, I'm his daughter. He admits he's not super human though and that that noncall was a mistake. If you want to hear his take on it, read the book he's putting out in October. He covers that game in depth. Anywho, stay passionate and God bless :)
