Anyone who thinks Mrs. Palin "handled this well" has ZERO understanding of the problems facing rural Alaska and Alaska Native Villages. The point is, what do the villagers themselves want? Our Sarah had no interest in listening to Mr. Tucker's ideas, or what he was trying to say. He did not ask for a handout, only short term emergency aid in a crises. He wants infrastructure and jobs. Urban Alaska lives off the resources of rural Alaska. Give Back! It simply takes the WILL to do it.

Did you read the interview? He agrees with Palin on the issues but he does not know what issues he Agrees with. She does her Homework as well as Obama did on some of his Selections.

Palin has a kind heart! Those people seem to acknowledge her and respect her! If I was her, I would have started crying in this video. It's hard to see people suffer like that! Maybe its true that back then they lived without government, but so did WE ALL!!! This is 2009!! I disagree with government IS the answer, but sometims there's no other way!

The problem came about in part due to the Alaskan Board reducing the amount of days they can Hunt. If the State Steps in and takes away from them then the State has to give back what it took. Under the Palin Admisntration they have increased the amount of Commercial fishing and thereby, Reducing the amount of Fish that the Natives can take, and in some cases it dpepted the fish for natives.

She just extended the hunting season for the rural villages. They now have all the time they want to hunt and fish.

On the 28th of Jan 2009 they extended them to get one more moose. The problem is Sarah did not listen to Monegan and others. They told her that this exact Issue was going to happen this Winter with the Rural Villages. She also went without A rural advisor  for 3 months during the winter. She just hired a Hunter for her Board of Game not a true Scientists.

Nice try spinning this the way Palin supporters do and ignoring the true Facts.

I think it'll take another 50 years before the rural Alaskans will fully want mingle with the urbanites/suburbanites in Alaska. Just like how CA loses their Cherokee tribes. It's survivial of the fittest - these people need to adapt to the changing times. Discrimmination will eventually fade or become less of a threat if they allow themselves into the modern culture.

That's exactly what I believe. Discrimination shouldb't be an obstacle! I understand Palin when she says they should go out and find work in other places. We ALL do it!

John Stossel did a segment where he talked about the Natives in the Lower 48 who gets a lot of gov't handouts. They ended up being the poorest and they blame the gov't. These Native Alaskans should listen to Palin and get their children out there into the real world or else they would be left behind. It's selfish to actually want their children to cling onto living this type of lifestyle in the 21st century. It's one thing to remember where you came from, but another to adapt to changing times.

Wow, she was pretty disrespectful to him. Even I could see how Mr. Tucker was swallowing his pride, to say what he said. And for her to just tell him to send the youth out to work in the mines and oil fields (totally ignoring his statement about the discrimination natives face in the cities) shows just how little she understood or appreciated his point of view, or native culture at all!

if they do not want to do the work to support their families...its not governments role to help them...as harsh as it sounds...if they want to live like natives...then they should do as they did hundreds of years ago...im sure they did just fine back then with out government aid...
