Just so everyone is clear- that guy IsaacBaranoff has a few computers and clicks like multiple times on his posts, while clicking dislike multiple times on others, eventually burying them so others can't see them. This happens on any site he goes to where he argues his conservative bullshit. If this one is buried, then you'll know it is he who did it, because others who simply agree with him wouldn't bury something that exposes just him.

@MusicJew158 Actually, that's not true, it's the exact opposite: excessive regulations leads to corporatism. The corporate control didn't happen until we started piling on regulations. We've never had a free market, but there was less of a corporate stranglehold before all the regulations. We wouldn't have the same level of corporatism in a free market.

@IsaacBaranoff That's a market. Capitalism also employs other necessary attributes - private ownership of the factors of production, corporate divisions of labor, and distribution of wealth often by output or property ownership. You can have a non-coercive exchange of goods and services under Socialism - the goods exchanged would just have to be produced by a democratically owned firm. The merits of this are arguable.

@IsaacBaranoff This is a fascinating proposition, that have a say in the management of surplus value proportional to the degree to which you contributed to that surplus value is restrictive while you claim that one person owning a factory or a firm and taking a majority of the surplus value is not restrictive. In any case, I have several responses:
Boots is not talking about goods or services created being democratically owned, just the profits earned...

@IsaacBaranoff What of the contributions of society and history? What of inventors and laborers and innovators and all that they contribute to the creation of a good or service today? Who creates the mill, the builders, the engineers, the man who installs the electricity and plumbing, the overseer of the build site? How can we disregard everything that social and historical contributions have to do with the culmination of a single good?
@nocturnezero Society did not evolve because of people working together to achieve a combined goal for "a single good". Society evolved because of individuals working toward their own goals. Fuck assimilation, fuck collectivism.

@IsaacBaranoff Finally, this is not true of Capitalism. Working in a private firm, the good you create will be handed to and sold by a manager, with you getting a fraction of the earnings. The division of labor further complicates who creates what. Socialism at least provides elementary structures for handling this problem - all people have a say in the allocation of their firms earnings proportionate to the degree to which they contributed to the creation of those earnings.
@nocturnezero Under capitalism, you earn what you deserve. You are wrong if you believe that you should earn more than that. No one should share their wealth with those that did not earn it.
@IsaacBaranoff Do you earn what you deserve, or do you earn what supply and demand determine? Supply and demand are non-constants so the remuneration for the producer cannot be constant, but what you deserve for the same amount of work is a constant. The two cannot coexist.
@IsaacBaranoff Under American capitalism you make what you can, not what you deserve. The ceo's getting millions of dollars in bonuses while simultaneously bankrupting their companies or our country is definitely not them earning their wage.
@IsaacBaranoff wrong, in capitalism you earn what you can if you already have the means to earn the amount of money which you can earn. Corporate USA: You gotta spend money to earn money. Socialism pays.
@liverpool3333 That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life. Corporatism is NOT capitalism. Socialism does not pay. Socialism is PAYING others, where people who don't deserve it live off YOUR MONEY. You have no idea what you're talking about. Please buy yourself a clue. YOU ARE WRONG. I actually know what I'm talking about, because I'm not a socialist. Go back to the suburbs. You may afford to be socialist, but most people can't. Fuck you.
@IsaacBaranoff Personally, I think you have every right to disagree with Socialism or Marxism and every right to defend capitalism. I think you have no right to tell others they cannot disagree with you.
Really, MOST people cannot afford Capitalism. It's the nature of capitalism. The ultimate goal is monopoly.
I understand what I am talking about fairly explicitly... and I welcome the challenge, if you can defend your pro-Capitalist views... if you want to bring the ad hominems, go on.
@sighedeffects Capitalism is not "monopoly". In a free market, the quality of the product is the judge. Anyone who tries to make money is a capitalist. What I'm in favor of is having your own wealth, which doesn't exist in a Socialism or Communism. Without capitalism, there is no society. The current American system is not perfect, due to the fact that there is no free market, but it is better than places where people trade women for food.
@IsaacBaranoff I did not say that capitalism is monopoly... I stated that the ultimate goal in capitalism is monopoly. Where in the history of human civilization has a completely "free market" been successful? To claim there is no society without capitalism is a great example of false consciousness.
To point that it is better than "places where people trade women for food" is true. Having parents that neglect you is better than parents that beat you. I fail to see relevance.
@IsaacBaranoff " In a free market, the quality of the product is the judge." This ignores the complexity and nuance of present conditions. Does the quality of product always take precedence to the advertising of a product? Inferior products never have a higher demand?
"Anyone who tries to make money is a capitalist." That still doesn't work - this is a capitalist society: anyone who tries to make money is trying to survive. Is anyone that wears panties a woman?
@IsaacBaranoff "Under capitalism, you earn what you deserve" - this is the most blatant form of false propaganda... it basically says that the poor are that way because they deserve to be poor. And that investment bankers work so much harder than construction workers or day laborers? What insanity.
Why do the people who OWN 60 percent of the capital not have to pay 60 percent of the taxes on it? (Instead, the people in the middle shoulder a majority of the burden with low compensation.)
@sighedeffects We do not live in a capitalist society. We live in a mixed society. Under a true free market system, individuals each have their own wealth. We do not have that now because we don't have the free market. A socialist/communist takeover would make things worse. The tax system is supported and promoted by statists, not capitalists. You're the one spreading propaganda - either that or you know nothing about capitalism. Capitalism is not restricted or taxed.
@IsaacBaranoff I do, in fact, know quite a bit about Capitalism. Capitalism is a system in which the means of production and accumulation of capital are privately owned. There are various forms of capitalism. It is not a narrowly defined system. Just as democracy has many forms, so does Capitalism. Direct democracy and representative democracy are still democracies. As far as a free market... we do not have a command economy. A true "free market" will always result in monopoly.
@IsaacBaranoff Under a true free market system, there would be no labor unions or worker's rights. Assuming you have a job(which I doubt), you know those "things" you call vacation/sick days? No company would have an obligation to give you them under a free market. Because of the struggles for worker's rights by socialists nearly a dozen decades ago workers actually have rights in the workplace. You don't like economic restrictions? I guess you don't like rights either. Free market =/= freedom
@SolusNimbus Free market is the only way to be free. We let people not work when we're sick because we're not evil. Vacations and sick days are not the result of unions. Worker's rights are given because we're human. Human beings are not vile, plasma-sucking beasts from the gates of Hell. Free market is the only way to be free. Socialism is slavery. Under socialism, you are a slave to your fellow man and will never have your own. Your ignorance is astounding.
@IsaacBaranoff The justification of capitalism I've heard from countless ignorant people is that human beings are greedy and vile, and thus equality and socialism can't work. Under socialism, people have greater control of what happens in their lives. You have to live with other people, grow up. You can't have everything to yourself. The most elementary rule taught in life is to share. Tell the free market is freedom to those starving and have little to no opportunity to work in the third world.
@SolusNimbus Under socialism, people have no control over their lives. You can't control something that you do not own. Capitalism is the only way to own your own life. Socialism is slavery. I refuse to speak to a person who cannot think.
@SolusNimbus Socialism = oppression of all. Capitalism = freedom for all. You have ZERO clue what you are talking about. Take your ignorance elsewhere. You will receive no converts here. I actually have a brain in my skull. I possess the ability to think that you do not. You are a slave. One day you will realize that. Until that, fuck off.
@IsaacBaranoff Go ahead! Go and keep promoting your ideology! While socialism is an actual movement in the real world that actually does things with real members, your ideology only exists on the Internet and has no real standing in the real world. Where are the Free Market protests? Your movement and ideology is simply an internet phenomena. Grow up.
@SolusNimbus There is no "free market" in the third world, or countries where people are starving. What you blame on capitalism is actually the fault of opposition to capitalism. The capitalists came up with a solution to world hunger by genetically producing food to feed starving people, but socialists and fanatics opposed it and claimed the lab-developed food to be "evil". Men that should be held as heroes and innovators are instead vilified for solving problems your type created via insanity.
@IsaacBaranoff They make food the food and keep for themselves. Capitalism has done good for our world, I'm not denying that. But capitalism's selfish attributes keeps human advancement restricted to a small group of people. And what is a free market then? I thought we socialists were picky about forming our system. I've debated plenty of you Randroids and other assorted asshats over the internet(because your movement doesn't exist in the real world), you're all insane just like Ayn Rand.

@IsaacBaranoff You keep getting out-classed by people who are critical thinkers and know much more about economics than you. Your comments show that either you're a teenager who's training to be a right-winger, or you're simply dim-witted. They are just slogans, with no reasoning behind them and you don't know what simple terms like "exploitation" mean. Then, you mark their comments as spam and immediately give yourself 4 thumbs up (every time!). You must have access to 4 accounts at your house.
@FunkFight1 Stop being a complete sore fucking loser. You'll realize that once you interract with more people who actually know what they're talking about, like me, that you're completely wrong to believe that it is right to take away the right to one's own speech, the right to one's own earnings, the right to humanity, the right to not be a slave, the right to individualism, the right to freedom. Without individualism, there would be no society. Go away, please.
@FunkFight1 I explained to you what exploitation means. You're the one who doesn't know what it means. You think it means anyone who works for a living is being exploited, because you're such a dumb fuck. I'm a business owner. You are a brat who doesn't know what he's talking about promoting a system that takes away my freedom. Shoo.
How is that downgrading of your currency going?? Ain't capitalism grande....and don't try to convince your small pea sized brain that you live in a socialist/psuedo-socialist society. You live in a capitalist society. PERIOD. If you lived in a socailist society 1% of the population wouldn't own 90% of the wealth, the rich would pay a proportionate amount of taxes and your standard of living would be higher. Keep trying to convince yourself other buddy.
@ToJ01978 The United States is not a capitalist society, you fucking moron. There's no free market, and I'm paying for leeches like you because you can't produce anything of your own.
PS-If you think your so bright by bitching at people on Youtube please inform me what literature to read so that I can maybe learn more of your viewpoint. In the meantime, go back to school and get a PoliSci/Economics degree (like mine) so you can have one idea of what you are talking about. Nazi's are socialist?? Fuck, if that is how you interprit history you might be already too far gone.
@IsaacBaranoff National socialism is not a combination of nationalism and socialism you idiot, read a fuckin' book. The name of the Nazi party (National Socialist German Workers Party) was designed to appeal to as many people as possible, it contains no real content.
@IsaacBaranoff National Socialism = fascism. I love it when dumbass right-wingers try to say that Nazis are socialists. The United States has a corporate capitalist system, it is neither free market capitalism nor socialism. Please try to have a basic understanding of what socialism is before you type these things.
@Dezzreck Dumbass left-wingers think I'm right-wing for being capitalist, and dumbass right-wingers think I'm left-wing for being pro-sex, feminist to a certain degree, in favor of rights for everybody (even the people that I don't agree with), opposed to censorship, opposed to racism...if you really think I'm right-wing, you have no idea what 'right-wing' means. Right-wing is fascist, authoritarian, the very things I am not.
@IsaacBaranoff Well I'm sorry I misjudged you. However, I just noticed in previous comments that you said you're a businessman, and you also said that "If someone creates something, it's there's". Really? Because I seem to notice that workers only get paid a fraction for what they create, while the bourgeoisie profit from it. In a true socialist society you earn the full product of your labor. And by the way, not all socialism means a totalitarian government. I'm opposed to that as well.
@Dezzreck You and another person are stranded on an island. You each can only catch one fish a day with your hands. One day, you build a net, which allows you to catch three fish a day. You lend your net to the other guy in exchange for one fish a day, you no longer have to go fishing, and you're both benefiting as a result. Because worker by himself can only produce one fish a day, and your net allows for an extra fish for him, you are paying him more than his labor is actually worth.
Marx, whom we can both agree is the father of 19th century socialism/communism famously said "Workers of the world unite"
To claim that Nazi Germany was a purely socialist state would mean that they gave up social/religious/political ideology, discarded racism and people came together by their common bond of class struggle.
One problem, Marx didn't say "Aryan-German ONLY workers of the world unite"
PPS - as a citizen of a county that, in a week, will still have a AAA+ credit rating I must ask how that capitalism is working out for you?? All that better standard of living, economic security and guarenteed healthcare up here in a big bad socialist state is starting to get tiring for me. Oh well, I will just have to occupy myself with our lower unemployment rate, less debt per capita, longer life expectancy and healthy international trade policies. Ta.
@FunkFight1 Since you believe in the redistribution of wealth, give me all of your money, because I clearly deserve to have more than you since you have the free time to lie about and slander people who know more than you do.
@IsaacBaranoff your a fuckin idiot. A single mother in the city works probably 20 times harder than you and you get to sit in front of your computer and watch youtube videos while shes busy getting evicted with her 2 kids. Yeah capitalism is really fair
@zzPinkTacozz37 We're not living under capitalism. We're living under semi-socialism. Don't talk to me about capitalism, you privileged middle-class brat. I've struggled all my life, worked harder than any of you bums, and all you idiots want to do is steal from me. Go fuck yourself.
@IsaacBaranoff hahahahaha. Were living under semi-socialism my ass. If anything were living under an aristocracy. You care about yourself so much, you dont even realize whats going on around you. I cannot stand people like you. If really have struggled all your life, you would know jow it feels to be on the bottom, and you should have sympathy for those at the bottom. Some people just dont have the capacity to understand
If you think that under the "free" market the capitalist class earns their wealth, then you are a fool. Owning the means of economic production isn't actually working. You've been conditioned into accepting hierarchy.
@kingofcrunk1010 You sound like a fucking moron if you think that we should be slaves and work for nothing. Socialism and communism are ALL ABOUT hierarchy, you fucking moron. You are fundamentally stupid if you think we should live under a system where all human beings work for little to nothing in return.
"system where human beings work for little to nothing in return"
sounds like capitalism to me
You appear to define capitalism by trade relations, rather than property relations, which is fine I guess, but then you aren't talking about the same capitalism everyone else is, which makes discussion hard.
Also, I like how you call everyone a moron in the comments for this video but in the next video you claim when someone insults you they aren't contributing to the conversation.
@redilsensine Everyone else is talking about corporatism. I'm sorry if I come across as rude here but I have a problem dealing with people on YouTube who aren't really trying to have a conversation but trying to provoke me. Perhaps that was not the case here and I simply let my anger and politics get ahead of me. It's something I'm working on.
@kingofcrunk1010 America is not capitalist. Capitalism is the exchange of goods and services without coercion or restriction by any party. Even Michael Moore has said that the United States is not capitalist.
thats what people say when capitalism fails. in a capitalist system there is private ownership of production which makes goods and services for profit and it has waged labor, competitive markets. from that is sound like USA is capitalist.
@IsaacBaranoff No offense, I mean I don't know you and I don't want to start any type of conflict, but, Michael Moore is a fucking dumbass. Leave it at that, he has no idea what the fuck he is talking about, I mean he's just a dumb mothafucker. He thinks he know politics and he thinks he knows what really went down on 9/11 and shit like that, I mean yeah I know our gov. is corrupt, but what gov. isn't? And he's a fucking racist, it shows it even in his documentary. Trying to segregate white..
@chocolatethundaaa72 Oh, I know Michael Moore is a dumbass. But point being, he criticizes what he refers to as capitalism, but is actually corporatism. And he kind of admits that what exists today isn't capitalism, but he doesn't come out and say it, he just thinks that the meaning of capitalism has "changed" to become corporatism, which is just not true.
@IsaacBaranoff .... neighborhoods froms blacks, as a black man myself and done my research, he has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. He should just shut the fuck up in my opinion, and in which I'm free to give. But like I said before, I have no problem with you, and I don't want any type of conflict and such, but I just thought I'd say that, because Michael Moore is and idiotic no body who just does shit to try and get some kind of publicity, no disrespect to you or your beliefs.
@IsaacBaranoff Not so - especially when those who, "earned what they deserved" have a HISTORY, present, and perpetual habit of STEALING their wealth from others and then trying to cover it up and acting like they have a god-given birthright to have what they stole in the first place. Your comment is bullshit.
@chj2 Typical collectivist mentality. You want to blame the only system that works for problems that you created yourself. Everyone but you is responsible, there's no room for individual responsibility. You would REALLY actively dislike socialism and communism if it were actually implemented. As a vague idea that you don't understand, you think it's a good idea. Capitalism is the exchange of goods and services among people without coercion or restriction by either party, or by any third party.
@IsaacBaranoff How do you know what a society that oporated based on communistic principles would look like? Capitalism works so well, that 40% of the people on this planet don't even have access to clean drinking water. Capitalism works so well, that the most capitalistic nation on Earth is currently engaged in the bombing of 6 countries. Capitalism works so well that a hanful of elites control a majority of the wealth in the world, while a majority of the people control a minority of wealth.
@MPArmstrong84 Hong Kong and Switzerland are two of the freest economic systems on the planet, and they are two of the most prosperous. The more economic freedom we have, the better we do. Capitalism does work. United States does not operate under capitalism.
@IsaacBaranoff BTW, that is one of the worst defenitions of capitalism I've ever heard. I'm sure you probably memorized that dumbass definition from one of Rush Limbaugh's books. Go read a fuckin economics book, dipshit.
@IsaacBaranoff Even capitalist economists do not agree with your definition of Capitalism. You are just making up sentences that sound good to you. You're nonsensical.
A brother with a mind...and actually uses it. I hope Boots has around 10 sons. We need more black men with intelligent point of views. Love ya, Boots!!!!
Look at how Victor (whatever his real name is) is looking at Boots. He's sitting there thinking, "ummm, not your average black, this one seems to be intelligent, we must keep an eye on this one".
As a leftist activist you participate in charities, you try to reform the system so that poor people get a chance in life, you try to help the less fortunate.
But what do you do as a conservative activist really? Do you like go around and kick homeless people and take candy from kids?
I like Maher overall, but it's really annoying seeing him tell boots to shut up, when boots is probably the smartest member of the pannel. oh, and the young and the restless is SHIT!!!!
Not that the Taliban are good guy, but they were oppressing the production of opium/ heroin in afghanastan. But now the military is promoting it and protecting it's farmers. Expect to see more of that in the us. And now they found lithium over there if they didn't already know it was there. But this episode happened way before this was public knowlege
I've lost a lot of respect for Harlan these days, and so tactical the way they sat him next to boots like that , so that he could distract him when he was trying to make a point
I usually like bill maher, but I think he and the other guests here were treating Boots in a pretty degrading way. It's obvious that the guy with the moustache and the young and the restless guy feel they are racially superior.
@stewyshepiro Indeed, the soap opera actor was acting incredibly self-righteous, with the backing of Maher and that Erin woman. Boots lets them talk, but they refuse to let him finish a point.
lol he said we werent trying to create a banana republic in afghanistan. You heard they just discovered a vast mineral supply there recently, wonder how thats gonna work out.
@o0Mav0o Iraq is already a banana republic and remember what happend to the world after WWII and the American Victory? Germany and Japan: greatest american allies in the post-war world
same with all of South American under the dictatorial regimes in the 60's and 70's and the capitalist genocide they produced "Operation Condor" (which US was deeply involved. not only with the killing of comunists and socialists in South American but with the dictatorships)
HAHAHAHA... white boy was trying to clown Boots about his AFRO... what a jackass! Yeah Boots broke it down and said "okay but FIRST lets start with the HANDLE BAR MUSTASH" (did I spell that right?)... white boy looking like a straight up country ass Klansman!
Boots obviously intellectually pwn's him with a snappy quick witted remark and you feel the need to make it about race. That makes you no better than them
@ManicEskimo Because dude brought "race" into it with him trying to be funny! He could have said "First lets talk about that crazy T-shirt" or "those funny looking sneakers".... no, what he did was go after something that (probably from his narrow mindset) would get a laugh which was clowning Boots Afro - which was an obvious DISRESPECT of another person culture! So in my book, an EYE FOR AN EYE! Got anymore smart ass question "Eskimo"?
..and US governments have a long history of clientelism with banana republics, run by repressive authoritarian regimes, while claiming to a believing US public that it's all in the interest of national security.
Afghanistan may not be rich in oil, but there is a hell of a lot of gas there!! And geographically it is an important location for oil and gas pipelines. Energy companies do have a big interest in Afghanistan.
@djcdoubleomizzle: Actually, Boots has a fair point. Enron & Exxon were both major ENERGY companies exercising quite an amount of influence in the political sphere. Take the Enron CEO at the time, Ken Lay. He had very close political connections to the Bush family.. but his support went to Democrats also, assisting Sheila Jackson Lee's 1994 Congress campaign (..same lady later voted with Republicans in favour of a Bush administration energy plan).
Yeah, Boots is brilliant. So smart that he thinks Afghanistan is in the Middle East. He also apparently thinks that the country is rich in oil, thus the interest Exxon and Enron would have in the area. There are legitimate reasons to criticize the war in Afghanistan, but this guy is ignorant. Actually, I suspect he's really just looking to be controversial more than anything, and is simply indifferent to whether what he says is true or not.

Well you are right there isn't any oil in Afghanistan but there is a hell of a lot of natural gas around the Caspian Sea and the fastest way to get it from there to the coast of India or Pakistan is pipelines through Afghanistan, it's the most sort after real estate for oil companies like.
Plus I don't think it's completely ignorant to call Afghanistan the middle east, it does border with Iran but obviously it would be more correct to say South East Asia
@djcdoubleomizzle Um. He says that the oil companies have interest in Afghanistan because of PIPELINE plans. You should listen. It is well known that there were plans to build an oil pipeline through Afghanistan. So, what he was saying is absolutely true. And Afghanistan borders Iran, most people call that the Middle East. You are the ignorant one here.
Even if I don't always agree with Boots and his political stance , I find I disagree more with his opponents. At least a righteous anger is based in whats right.
They're all millionaires, who cares what they think? Let's get some homeless and middle class people on there! Don't get me wrong, Boots is an awesome rapper, the other three are awesome at what they do, but they're crying at the political bitches getting money. They're all rich! Shush it!
When this aired, Boots Riley was def. not a millionaire, I don't know about the rest of the douchebags on the pannel, but at the time Boots Riley was a little known underground rapper. Deff. not a millionaire.
agreed, i mean most ppl don`t know who he is still, he did do that super group with tom of RATM, regardless boots is cool, i have a problem with maher, he leads himself off to be a capitalist/democracy guy, when he pretty much has the same views as Michael moore, who is pretty much a open socialist , or democratic socialist. also i am not saying there is a Problem with being a socialist.
Boots pissed righteous indignation all over that set. That's called courage.

Socialism at least provides elementary structures for handling this problem - all people have a say in the allocation of their firms earnings proportionate to the degree to which they contributed to the creation of those earnings.
nocturnezero 8 months ago
@nocturnezero Under capitalism, you earn what you deserve. You are wrong if you believe that you should earn more than that. No one should share their wealth with those that did not earn it.

@IsaacBaranoff Do you earn what you deserve, or do you earn what supply and demand determine? Supply and demand are non-constants so the remuneration for the producer cannot be constant, but what you deserve for the same amount of work is a constant. The two cannot coexist.

I understand what I am talking about fairly explicitly... and I welcome the challenge, if you can defend your pro-Capitalist views... if you want to bring the ad hominems, go on.
sighedeffects 7 months ago

(Instead, the people in the middle shoulder a majority of the burden with low compensation.)
sighedeffects 7 months ago

SolusNimbus 7 months ago

@SolusNimbus There is no "free market" in the third world, or countries where people are starving. What you blame on capitalism is actually the fault of opposition to capitalism. @IsaacBaranoff Well I'm sorry I misjudged you. However, I just noticed in previous comments that you said you're a businessman, and you also said that "If someone creates something, it's there's". And by the way, not all socialism means a totalitarian government. I'm opposed to that as well.
Dezzreck 5 months ago
@Dezzreck You and another person are stranded on an island. You each can only catch one fish a day with your hands. One day, you build a net, which allows you to catch three fish a day. You lend your net to the other guy in exchange for one fish a day, you no longer have to go fishing, and you're both benefiting as a result. Because worker by himself can only produce one fish a day, and your net allows for an extra fish for him, you are paying him more than his labor is actually worth.

Marx, whom we can both agree is the father of 19th century socialism/communism famously said "Workers of the world unite"

One problem, Marx didn't say "Aryan-German ONLY workers of the world unite"

@djcdoubleomizzle
It's part of G8's definition of the middle east, and most people consider it to be a part of the middle east.

Well you are right there isn't any oil in Afghanistan but there is a hell of a lot of natural gas around the Caspian Sea and the fastest way to get it from there to the coast of India or Pakistan is pipelines through Afghanistan, it's the most sort after real estate for oil companies like.
Plus I don't think it's completely ignorant to call Afghanistan the middle east, it does border with Iran but obviously it would be more correct to say South East Asia
afearofbuttons 1 year ago

Shush it!

@Deathcontinued
