elvis loved toms voice and tom was in awe of elvis ..tom said himself when he met elvis is like a dream that you did'nt want to wake up from ..they spent time on the beach in hawaii and did vegas together and spent many hours singing gospel together . god bless you elvis ..we still love you ep x
Tom and Elvis were very close. This song starts and ends with "put on my blue suede shoes". The whole part just about Elvis is fantastic..."waiting for the King in the jungle room!". Did you know Elvis was awarded the W.C. Handy award? Elvis and Memphis go hand in hand. Did you know there an official Elvis Day in Memphis? Come on...put on your blue suede shoes and wait for Elvis in the jungle room! come on do it....see you at Graceland!
This is the first time I've ever heard this version - and I can't listen to it without feeling the emotion. Fair play to Mr. Jones - and RIP Elvis.. The King will live on forever ! xoxoxo
Thank you so much!!! I have been looking for this song! I saw Tom Jones do it live in Westbury, Music Fair. It was great and so is this video. Luv the images. You did a great job! Nothing to apologize for. Thank you!
MD 4 Out of all The Hollywood Celebs...None...and I mean None,,,,,Loved Elvis more than Mr. Tom Jones.....Tom absolultey Revered the Man....and took the Kings death very hard.....Yes....He did Love Elvis very much....and did Sing this in His Honor...
Loved this version of Tom singing Walking in Memphis. I felt he was singing it in honor of Elvis. I heard him sing it in 1998 the first time I saw him live.
This if from "The lead and how to swing it", special Australia 2 CD edition that had a 2nd CD with 5 live songs from London. I bought this on Ebay Australia in 2000 just to get this song live.
O my God! This man is a genius.

Elvis and Tom were good friends, this rendition of Tom's version is stunning and I would be happy if Tom would record this on his next CD.
Thanks discosuperstars for doin' a great job on this one.

The "Blue Suede Shoes" I believe are in reference to Carl Perkins and not Elvis...i

Saw him sing this in concert live a couple of times - both times I felt it was the highlight of his show.
Thanks so much for bringing back the memory!
