Nicely played, Leon. Watching you play the accordion so well after just one year is an inspiration to me and my daughter, we are practising every day!! Thank you.
@FunStuffAus I'm happy to hear that you are practicing. The world desperately needs more accordionists. I hope to see more of your daughter, and yourself as well on YouTube.
@AccordionLadyMi Thank you Fran. I do love my Roland. It was the best investment I made. It has good tonal quality and like any electronic instrument it is easy to record for YouTube. Thank you for confirming my progress.
I repeat what Simon said - "WOW!". Listened to this 6 times in a row:
Nice bellows well thought out, especially the beginning 2 out, 2 in; nice dynamics; the emphasis of the beat changes from three, four, ONE, two - three, four, ONE, two - to one, TWO, 3, 4 - one TWO, 3, 4 - you played and emphasised these extremely confidently. Congrats on finishing the 2nd booklet - onwards & upwards, to infinity & beyond (oh, that's superman!)
@Delmontedel Six times? Really? Now it's my turn to say "WOW!". You are a dedicated mentor, and I appreciate the time you spent listening. I am impressed that you can pick out the rhythm syncopation. I would not be able to do that on someone else's performance. But I realize that as I progress my musical ear improves, and I hope some day to be as perceptive as you are. Yes, it's onward to Booklet 3 and beyond, but possibly not to infinity.
Leon, that's very nice and thanks for showing the accordion version of this song. My daughter played this on the piano at 5 years old and this has been my favourite. Your video gave me some good ideas. Well done!
@musicfamily Thank you so much for your positive feedback. Yes, it is popular in beginner level lessons in many different courses. It's always arranged a little bit differently. This one uses rhythm syncopation, whereas the Palmer-Hughes version does not. At my level I view the differences as needed skill building practice.
@musimedic Gracias Hugo por su aliento mientras poco a poco aprender a tocar el acordeón. Aprender a tocar un instrumento musical lleva su tiempo. Lo importante es que estoy disfrutando el proceso de aprendizaje.
Congratulations on completing book #2 of the USSM accordion home study course! Also a nice rendition of The Cassons Go Rolling Along. I am working on the "Complete Hanon For The Accordion" by Charles Nunzio, copyright date of 1941. It is a slow go but it has some great exercises for both hands.
@AIJohnsen Thank you Andy for the encouragement about my progress. I am familiar with Hanon exercises from my days on the piano. It takes a certain strength of character to work with them and I admire you for that. I hope you share with me over time if you notice any improvement in your speed/strength/accuracy as many people claim those exercises help develop.
All I have to say is WOW! :) Like I have already written before, your progress is very visible indeed, Leon. This piece seemed to introduce some new techniques, a kind of syncopation being one of them. You've dealt with it just great :) I look up to you for your professionalism, as being professional (as an adjective) is a kind of character. You have got that character, Leon, and you will go far. I'm looking forward to your future videos. In the meantime, happy playing, and good luck!
@Ch1mp90 Thank you Simon for the very positive feedback. I am working hard on expression and articulation, which seems to be the emphasis at my point in the lessons. I appreciate that you notice a difference. So I guess this shows that the lessons are working.
@Ch1mp90 Great comments Simon. I admire the fact that Leon really delivers an exact performance of the manuscripts directions and will practice very hard to conquer the staccato, portarto and legato phrases, dynamics and bellows. I wish I was as diligent as he.
@mlasagabaster Gracias Marieli para su evaluación alentadora de mi forma de tocar. Estoy trabajando duro para que un día voy a jugar tan bien como usted.
@Accordioncrasy Thank you Istvan for your positive technical evaluation of the audio in my video. The stereo characteristics of the Roland FR-7 were particularly important to me when I bought it. I'm glad you like it.
Excellent playing
Very nice melody
I love it
