LOL @ you thinking the Big Ten is somehow different this year than they have been over the last 5 years.
Newsflash, it's the exact same, dominating conference. The Big Ten will always be the premier football conference.
It's all about matchups. As long as we aren't playing USC, or our 6th place team isn't playing the ACC champion, the Big Ten will always have the best bowl record.
The Big Ten is still dominating despite Mich sucking dick. Have fun with PAC stats. lol
Congratulations on getting Dior Mathis. Now you can lay claim to finally having a "fast" athlete, instead of hyping up your mid-major leftover recruits.
Yes, I expect Oregon to have success in the PAC10, much the same way Boise State will continue to have success in the WAC.
Your league is absolute shit. Maybe you can luck out and get Illinois in the Rose Bowl in the future. You might actually have a chance against them.
lol. You're too much, pal. I can't believe you would even show your face after the domination you faced in the Rose Bowl. I do love that you think a fumble- your ONLY turnover, BTW- out of the gimmick offense was somehow an unusual occurrence that lost you the game.
Oregone was dominated in TOP and yardage. Be thankful that the Buckeyes were missing two of their players and Terrelle Pryor was injured.
Please don't try to put your little institution on the Big Ten's level. Not smart.
haha little institution! lol wow your a fucking genious, go fuck your mom seriously! so thats how big ten fans talk huh! win against and just think your all big and bad! ohio state doesnt impress me at all im sorry! ohio state didnt beat us in the rose bowl, we bear our selves! fuck the bucks! PROUD TO BE A DUCK TIL THE DAY I FUCKING DIE BITCH!!!!!!!
@balmdeezy Dude if Terrelle Pryor was well enough to play obviously he aint very injured. The turnovers are what costed Oregon that game. Don't be talking crap saying Big 10 is better. Oregon's back this year baby
Oh yeah, when I said they return 10 starters, that's just on offense. It's 19 over all. So enjoy another decade of the Ducks being successful while MSU hovers around mediocrity and even dabbles in shitty years.
And oh yeah. Even though I'm not, I'd rather be from Oregon than your cold, shitty, dumpy, economically blasted hell-hole of a state in Michigan.
While you're stuck in Mich questioning your life and school, I'm in LA. and happy. I have a great job, I get to eat outside, enjoy my days going to brilliant bars, and enjoy the company of LA women, who are amongst the sexiest in the world. Enjoy your Midwest cows--er--women in your shit weather in your dumpy state.
By the way. Dior Mathis just committed to Oregon on T.V. Nice prediction. Not only is our team going to be loaded with stars next year (we're legitimate national title contenders next year, along with 'Bama, Ohio State, Boise State and 1 or 2 others), this recruiting class will probably be top 3 in Oregon history. If not the best.
If you honestly think that Oregon football is a gimmick and slow, you're just dumb. I'll never change your opinion.
Either way, Oregon logged another P-10 championship, another 10 win season, and just missed another top 10 finish (#11). At least we return 19 players and have an incredibly bright future. How's Michigan State looking next year? Starting the near ranked top 5? Didn't think so.
I do have to say, I was surprised by bowl results as a whole. But things aren't linear in college football. They change. The Pac-10 had a wildly successful bowl record the past 3 years while the Big-10 had a rubbish record. It was bound to turn sooner or later. It's all cyclical.
The Big-10's bowl record would have been better if Michigan State could have beaten a crappy Big-12 team without its head coach. Haha.
Well, I'm back. Good game, good game. I'm very disappointed, as Oregon clearly had the momentum with them until Blount squandered that with the most ridiculous fumble I've ever seen. That was a joke. Kicking it through the end zone 20 yards away? That's just bad luck.
Fact is, Oregon is primed for the future. Already, Oregon was ranked #4 for 2010. And they're coming in with 2 Heisman candidates. They won the Pac by 2 games and played in the RB WITH A 1ST YEAR COACH and return 10 starters.
Your little mid-major, bitch-ass program doesn't belong on the fucking field with the Big Ten. Stay in the pacific northwest and find another sport to follow.
Now shut your mid-major ass the fuck up. You were never in this game. Even when it was close Oregon was not in this game.
Your conference is a joke, as is the Oregon football program.
And where the fuck do you EVER fucking get off talking badly about the Big Ten or Michigan State University.
You don't shit about college football. You're from the pacific northwest for christ sakes. Stick with backpacking and cross country if you know what's best for you.
Now listen carefully, Oregon fan. I hope you were taking notes on how real football is played. 25-17 late in the 4th qrt.
Feel fortunate that your team had some big kick returns or you might not have scored a fucking point.
Your team plays in a shit conference and it showed tonight. Do you really think Oregon will ever have success against a Big Ten team in a meaningful game?
You write too much. I didn't read much of it. You can point to some ESPN article and claim whatever you want, but take a look at revenue. The Big Ten reigns supreme...as always.
Your players are slow, your offense is gimmick, your school is mid-major. Ohio State is going to control this game for 60 minutes.
Hmmm, interesting. Oregon mentioned in the same sentence with OSU, UT, and a "handful of others". I mean, they probably could have referenced Miami, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida State, etc. But it was Oregon. Why? Because we're now every bit the equal to many powerhouse schools based on our performance, success, popularity, and fan base. Do you think MSU crossed their minds while naming off UT and OSU? My guess is no.
Who knows, maybe our rise to power has relegated MSU to midmajor ;)
Allow me to summarize since you're dumb: the OTL/ESPN report suggests that the biggest money grabbers in college football are in the SEC. This is obvious. However, they claim that some elite-level, money-makers such as Texas, Ohio State, and OREGON are powerful enough to run step for step with any SEC power.
Is this the quality of an unsuccessful mid-major school? You claim we aren't big enough to compete with others, yet we're mentioned as financial and performance equals to UT, OSU, and SEC.
Interesting article on ESPN about money and power in college football, proving your claims wrong.
Oregon is mentioned: Although Texas, Ohio State, Oregon (AKA Nike U), and a handful of others match strides--and maybe even manage to get a step ahead at times--with the big boys in the Southeast, the commercialism in college football is more consistently and vividly on display on SEC campuses in towns such as Gainesville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Athens, and Columbia.
California leftovers? Right. And you're not stocked with Ohio/Michigan leftovers. Please. Have fun being the second-rate school in your state hoping every year that players choose you over Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan.
And my youth comment isn't an excuse. In fact, it's going to make OSU look that much worse when they lose. I was merely pointing out the fact that this team is 10-2, Pac-10 champs, and Rose Bowl participants while young. Imagine another year of experience.
If you can't realize that Oregon has been a power for 15+ years, then you're not a college football fan. You're just a Michigan State fan and Big-10 homer. You need to stop your myopic thinking and give a team its due when necessary.
Do you know why I don't give Wake Forest its due when they have a good year? Because that's what it is: a good year. Oregon has been on top for nearly 2 decades now. Open your eyes and start watching college football...it's a fun sport.
I can't hear you. We're writing. And who the hell is Chris Johnson? Yeah, way to follow football. He's only the best RB in the NFL and is probably going to win the MVP.
You do realize that Big 12, SEC, ACC, and Pac-10 fans, although we hate each other, still always agree on one thing: how the Big-10 is slow and boring, and when you watch a Big-10 team's highlight video, it's like watching Miami or USC or Oregon or Oklahoma in slow motion. Not to mention it's just boring football.
That is hilarious what Chris Johnson said- whoever the hell that is. It's even funnier that the Big Ten always has the fastest 40 times. Every year. Did you hear that? That's every year if you didn't hear me correctly. Is there another measurement of fast that you were referring to? hehe.
At least you tipped your hand at the reason for losing to Ohio State. Inexperience, huh? Is that going to be the only reason. Good luck with the California leftover recruits, middy.
Chris Johnson (NFL leading rusher) on Ted Ginn (former Ohio State Buckeye)
Hes pretty fast, but a lot of people get it mistaken at the conference he played at. Was it the Big Ten? Theyre a slow conference. They dont have fast guys in that conference. It automatically makes him look like hes a real fast guy.
Don't worry. You guys will be alright. Someone has to topple tOSU. Is your stud linebacker leaving? Greg Jones I think? He's a beast. And unless a ton of teams jump you in the coming months, you look to have a decent recruiting class. top-30 at this point.
You guys will be fine. I mean you haven't been to a BCS bowl game since the 1988 Rose Bowl. You're overdue. Oregon had a huge drought from 60s-early 90s. Now we've been to 3 in the past 12 or 15 years. Happy Holidays and good luck vs. TT.
Oh, and we haven't signed Dior Mathis yet. I've just read we're in the lead for his services. No surprise there. UO is used to getting top-tier talent these days. It's been going on for about a decade or more. We just don't get a TON of it. We still have to find diamonds-in-the-rough and coach them up. Coaching--it's pretty important in football. And we've got one of the best in the country.
And why is it frustrating that Oregon gets to play in the RB? It's a game, generally, between Pac-10 vs. Big-10. We've been a Pac-8/10 tea since the early 1900s. We won the league, it's our right to go. If you're frustrated, tell your team to get off its ass and win something.
You can't be frustrated that we figured out how to win our conference this year and you didn't. But I get why you're so upset. I know how big this game is. I grew up 30 minutes from Pasadena/UCLA/USC (LA kid). It's HUGE.
It's not right that a tradition rich school MSU isn't in the Rose Bowl and we are? It's not our fault we can recruit and coach.
Yeah, Ohio State's alright. THey have the advantage of playing one of the 3 youngest teams in the country. Outside of experience, they have 0 clear-cut advantages over this Oregon team. This team is stacked and is going to be good for years to come.
It's very frustrating to watch a school like Oregon get the opportunity to play in the biggest bowl game in the country- bigger than the Super Bowl, IMO, while a tradition-rich university like Michigan State hasn't been in years. It's not right.
It's like those lotto winners who work as janitors cleaning toilets. Merry Xmas.
Yeaaaah, I just don't see it. Congratulations on getting Dior Mathis. He was a plan A recruit for Michigan State, so that has to be a first for Oregon. Usually your school has to settle for the leftovers, yes?
Congratulations on making the Rose Bowl. There is no doubt in my mind that Ohio State is the much better team, even with Pryor at QB.
Oh yeah, for good measure: this year's Oregon team is the first Pac-10 team to win the conference by a 2 game margin since Washington did it in 1991--the year they won the national championship.
I know you middle-America, tradition-loving, corn-fed, sport-ignorant know-it-alls don't want to accept it; but you have to. Oregon has been a power for a long time now, and that's not changing any time soon.
And believe me, I think OSU has a chance to win. We both do. It's a good matchup. Cheers.
You like to think that Oregon has put together 2 cute years. You do realize we've been a Pac-8/10 team since forever. And also that we've been consistent winners since the early 90s. I agree, some school put together a cute year or two, which is what we call a fad. But when you have nearly 20 years of winning and even dominance, it's no longer a fad or even trend--it's a fact. And it won't be ending any time soon. We have one of the youngest teams with a stacked bench. Returning on O: 10. D: 9.
Our recruiting class has moved up to 28th, and looks to finish top-20 very easily; Dior Mathis actually looks to be favoring the Ducks; we're currently ranked #7 (again in the top 10); every ranking publication has said, win or lose, the Ducks have locked a top-5 ranking next year; we have TWO Heisman contenders for next year in Masoli and James; we've been to 9 bowl games in the last decade. Just some fun stuff I read. BTW, we're still not mid-major. We're Pac-10 BCS automatic qualifier ;)
Here's some fun stuff for you to muse: LaMike James is 3rd team All-American as a frosh, and he won National Freshman Performer of the Year and Pac-10 Offeensive Freshman of the Year; Chip Kelly has been named Coach of the Year by numerous publications and will probably win it officially; Oregon and Oregon State have more wins this decade than the SoCal schools; Oregon has 7 less conference wins than USC this decade (yep, that's less than 1 per season for those who can't count).
And how is that that USC, who ran step-for-step with tOSU, got KILLED by us; yet, tOSU is going to be too fast? Every article I have read so far has been the same thing: "Can Ohio State hang with Oregon's speed?" Even Tressel comments on one thing and one thing only, our speed and tempo. I could also name half our team who would be playing for tOSU, as I could name half your team that may play for us. Also, Pryor doesn't suck. He'd be a stud on our team. OSU doesn't know how to coach an athlete.
Every team we played that ran a ball control offense were stuffed by our D. Only one was successful, and that was Stanford. And tOSU can't replicate that because Stanford had a Heisman running back, a beefier O-line (using 7 O-linemen at times), and, most importantly, one of the best NFL QB prospects in the country who was able to prevent us from stacking the box. Otherwise, McKnight, Avery, Best, and Rodgers--all better than Big-10 RBs--were all stuffed. I'm not scared of your ball-control O.
You do realize we're favored? And at this point, it seems the Rose Bowl will have more Oregon fans than OSU fans. You also do realize that we played a first-ranked rush defense NUMEROUS times this year, and every time we rushed for over 200 yards. You just don't get it. It's not about playing this defense or that defense--our offense simply cannot be stopped. It can be slowed. But never stopped.
You also know that most offenses we played this year were ball-control? Oregon State, USC, Cal...
Maybe you can claim a moral victory when Ohio State only beats you by 10 points, even though they will dominate the game.
You see, real football (not gimmick) actually plays ball control football and field position. These cute little mid-major 50-45 games don't happen in the Big Ten.
What are you going to say when Ohio State wins 23-13, but held you to 95 yards rushing and 150 yards passing? Will you claim a moral victory?
Do you honestly think you have a chance in the Rose Bowl? I guess that's the great thing about athletics. Every team can be optimistic before the coin toss.
Ohio State is bigger and faster than your leftover recruits. You don't have one player who would start for them ANYWHERE on the field, including special teams.
Mossoli would probably start at QB because Pryor sucks so bad, but that's about it.
I just wonder if you'll change your tune when the Big Ten goes 5-2 in bowl games this year because the matchups are in the Big Ten's favor (aka "fair" games). Will you? Not that I care what a middie thinks, but I'm interested to see the reaction by the envious mob.
BTW, good job bringing up USC beating Penn State last year. It has been 4.5 posts since you rode their coattails.
Hahaha, real powerful words from your commissioner.
Regardless of how near-sighted you are, I will say this:
I'm really excited for this game. Face it--it's going to be great. And it's awesome we don't have to watch USC in the same bowl again. It's great matchup: the old school, conservative, traditional, methodical, plodding, long-time powerhouse VS. the progressive, flashy, trend-setting, sleek, unstoppable kind-of-new guy. The vest VS. the visor for the Grand Daddy Of 'Em All. I'm pumped.
OSU lost its bowl game 24-21 to Texas in the Fiesta Bowl after a whopping 44-day layoff following its victory over rival Michigan.
Prior to that game, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney, having just watched Penn State get waxed by USC 38-24 in a game that was effectively over by halftime, sounded defeatist.
What about OSU-2, Texas-0? Delaney said of his meager hopes for a second Big Ten victory. Id be happy with that. Im just looking for a win.
From a Midwest newspaper: The Ohio State football teams recent struggles in bowl games have been well-documented. The Big Ten conference as a whole has had difficulty winning its postseason matchups.
Last season, the Big Ten went 1-6 in bowl games as a conference, with Iowa notching the only win in the Outback Bowl over South Carolina.
You've been wrong all year. Literally, everything you've said for the entire season has ben incorrect. But you're so delusional that the only way you'll shut up and open your eyes that the Ducks are a big-time power and that the spread is...well, spreading is by UO beating tOSU. Which is fine. Because that should be easy. And you'll be wrong AGAIN. Call Dior Mathis and tell him how he liked Autzen on his visit. He might have good things to say.
Here's what's great: we're ranked 7 in the country. We've played 4 teams currently ranked (won 3), while Texas and Florida have only played 1 team ranked. We'll beat tOSU and probably finish the season ranked 3-5. Since we bring back 17 starters, we'll start NEXT YEAR ranked top 5. Face it: Oregon has been the present and will be the future. We're not the cute Rose Bowl story from 1994. We're now a perennial Pac-10/BCS contender and top-tier team that nobody wants to play at the end of the year
It was a great game, and every single news outlet, sports publication, broadcaster, and fan have been saying so. What I saw were 2 teams that would take Ohio State to the woodshed.
Did you watch the game? Did you? Can you please FINALLY explain how the offense is a gimmick?
I read another article Monday about how the spread is slowly trickling into the NFL, and that the simplified version of it will spread everywhere. Sorry bro, it's no gimmick. It's smart football. Run right, run left, pass
It's amazing how much you don't know. You do realize that the game was schedule for Saturday and it was changed for contractual reasons. So we're "cute" and "like Boise" because we play 1 game a year on Thursday? Because we wanted the entire country as an audience? Because ESPN would pay us hundreds of thousands of dollars to switch? Does that make VA Tech cute too? They play Thursdays, regularly. The best part is, I read 3 articles this week about how it was a great decision to play Thursday.
Again. Not a midmajor. But keep trying to go with that. We only have 23, but as early as 2 years ago we had 34. A slew of Oregon grads retired over the last 2 years, and since we have the youngest team in the country, they haven't put anyone back into the NFL. Just wait for next year.
It doesn't matter whether or not they play high school football in Oregon. UO gets most of their athletes from California and Texas.
You should really stop with the midmajor thing. It makes you sound so ignorant
I really hope you beat Oregon State so that the Buckeyes can make you look foolish, even though you're doing a pretty good job at it yourself.
I'll tell you what really pisses me off is that I'm even arguing with a fucking mid-major school about football. Jesus Christ, do they even play high school football in Oregon?
I only read your last post. Yeah, I'm sure Oregon has some good players that put up big numbers- kind of like Timmy Cheng and Colt Brennan at Hawaii.
Listen Small Time, there's a reason why you are playing for the PAC10 championship on Thursday night. LOL.
Oregon and Boise State are IDENTICAL. You are both cute, gimmicky schools. And there isn't a single NFL team that would ever run the garbage they run at mid-major oregon.
Shotgun does not equate to the gimmick spread. Sorry.
Some fun stats: ESPN today ranked the 10 Best of College Football, and guess who won Fan Support? Yep, Oregon. We out-fan your Big-10 hacks.
Also, Rivals power rankings: we have 8th best QB, 3rd RB, 4th TE, 10th OL, 17th D Coord, and 8th head coach. Thats six top-25 rankings to MSUs three. But you have the better everything, right?
Lastly, 3 of nations 4 best RBs are Pac-10 (James, Rodgers, Gerhart), and Gerhart shoulnd be Heisman winner. But you guys are better still. I bow to MSU/Big-10.
Oh yeah, the BCS announced that there are only 16 (or 20, I forget) teams still eligible for BCS consideration. Both Oregon schools are in that list. Take a look and let me know if your Michigan schools are there. I only looked for Oregon, so I didn't check Michigan schools. You must be, though. UM and MSU are so good. Let me know.
Look man. I love old school stuff. I get pumped for the OSU-UM game every year. Rudy is one of my favorite movies. I'd kill to go to a Penn State Whiteout. But face it, Oregon is the future. We win, we run a version of the spread that's trickling into the NFL, we're a hype machine and marketing power, it's fun football, and we have a rabid following.
I know more about college football than you. Stop trying to argue your way out of a shitty team. But hey, at least your basketball team is nasty.
Yeah, Utah, and West Virginia, etc have had some good seasons. The difference is this: We did it in the Pac-10 and we did it playing hard schedules--teams like USC, Cal, OSU, Ariz, Texas, Michigan, Miss State, OK State, Oklahoma.
We don't have a couple good seasons. We've had only 1 losing season since 1995. That's better than a couple good seasons, friend.
Again, I love your smalltime jabs. It's funny, since a Pac-10, Division 1 A, perennial BCS contender can't be smalltime. Haha.
Fair matchups? We don't worry about fair matchups. We just go 6-0 in bowl season.
And I believe Oregon has wins against Michigan, Wisconsin, Mich State in the BCS era. Good Pac-10 teams actually thrive on slow Big-10 teams.
I read an article about how 3 of Notre Dame's ideal coaches would be Chip Kelly, Jim Harbough, and Mike RIley. That's 3 Pac-10 coaches who are 3 of the best in the country. That coesn't even consider Pete Carroll. And Dennis Erickson (1NC) and Mike Stoops aren't bad.
Let's talk BCS era, because that's the only time that matters to me. I wasn't alive in 1940s to see Notre Dames championships. The Pac-10 is the only conference with a winning record against every other conference. Yes, that includes the SEC.
And ASU and UW this year, two of Pac's 3 worst teams, were one missed field goal and one drive away from beating LSU and Georgia, respectively.
And again, we don't run the same offense as Rich. Our spread is not a gimmick spread. It's a simplified spread. We pass WAY more than he ever thinks to. And if we didn't have such good running backs, our coach would pass even more.
You need to open your eyes, it's the future. As of this year, 56% of NFL passes were thrown out of the shotgun. When the Pats set the scoring record in 2007 (2008?) they ran out of the shotgun most of the time. The Ducks version of the spread is just smart football.
You see, you may not see how it's possible, but it's true. You just have to look it up. And this is going to be a down draft year for the Ducks, because we're so young, returning 17 or 18 starters.
Rich Rodriguez is a good coach. He turned WV into a perennial contender, and if he gets a chance to land the right players, he could contend anywhere. But he has to get the right players.
BTW, it looks like you're going to luck out again with the Big Ten once again getting two BCS bids.
You can beat your chest about how "down" the Big Ten is after Wisconsin gets beat by Alabama/FL, Northwestern gets beat whoever the ACC champ/runnerup is and Minnesota bets knocked around by some other conference winner.
Congratulations.
The only guaranteed win (i.e. fair matchup) is tOSU smacking around a non-USC Rose Bowl opponent. And Pryor sucks.
Looks like we're back to square one, pal. Oregon has better facilities than Michigan State. That's it, smalltime. Sure, you have had multiple seasons of 9-10 wins. So what?
Utah, Boise State, West Virginia, etc.. have had consistently "good" seasons over the past couple of years. Why do you think that is?
Wins? Big Ten has a winning record against every conference. Oh, the Big Ten is "down," right? During those "down" years, the Big Ten still has a winning record against the SEC.
The only conference who has ever had success against the Big Ten is the University of Southern California. Oh, that's right, USC is a team not a conference. Oops.
So you think Oregon has more NFL players than Michigan State? That would surprise me greatly. Just don't see it possible.
Too many statistics, huh? Big Ten always has the best coaches, with the exception of Rich Rodriguez who just happens to be destined to fail because he runs the same crap that would only fly at schools like Oregon.
And I almost forgot: I sure hope you watch the game. It's going to be good. Better than the crap your conference has subjected us to all season. Enjoy the good football, whoever wins.
And it's funny. You like to use this midmajor word. Yet, I don't know what it means. You seem to forget I didn't go to Houston or TCU.
Are you watching the Sunday night game? It's the Oregon show. The only two players they've talked about the whole game are Haloti Ngata and Dennis Dixon. It's the Oregon show baby.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check the BCS standings. For some reason, seeing the Ducks in the top-10 (again) at 7 never gets old. Where's MSU?
Excuse the long posts. There's just SO much statistical evidence to disprove everything you say it's hard to consolidate. Putting all of our wins, success, big games, Heisman contenders, NFL draftees, wildly successful coaches. and media coverage into succinct posts is tough.
And yes, Terrelle Pryor sucks. He would probably be the first to admit it. He's a horrible QB, but he'll still have success against teams like Oregon, Minnesota, Boise State, Indiana, etc...
I bet he runs all over your PAC10 defense. They may not have to attempt a pass in the Rose Bowl.
Could you do everyone a favor and consolidate your mid-major thoughts into maybe one or two posts? I actually find myself skipping over the majority of your drivel because it's just a block of nonstop text.
Search "I Love My Ducks" (I Smell Roses) on youtube. Even should get a kick out of it. It's a viral hit and Nike is trying to doctor it to play it this week during the Civil War (you know--that tiny game that decides the P-10 champ and Rose Bowl participant). If you don't find the humor in it, you're as boring as you are blissfully ignorant. Go Ducks.
Whoever OSU plays, they're going to be killed. Again. Thanks for another Pac-10 victory in the Rose Bowl rivalry.
And the read option is the best thing you could run against OSU. They will have no idea how to stop it. Especially when you consider our passing is more akin to the spread option, and OSU will look STUPID on defense. We play elite D's every year, and nobody stops us. This year: ASU, UCLA, USC, UA were all top 20 Ds. They all got their asses handed to them on D. Same shit with OSU.
By the way, I never once said Terrell Pryor sucks. In fact, he's a really talented looking kid. Prototypical size, a gun, speed, etc. His problem isn't that he sucks. His problem is that only a Big 10 team could recruit the best offensive player in the country and not know what to do with him. Put Terrell Pryor on VT, Texas, Cal, Oregon, Clemson, Florida, South Carolina, TT, Oklahoma--shit, even Duke based on their QB play--and you'd have a pretty successful QB.
I guess things like the conference you play in, the team's following, wins in a decade, wins against ranked opponents, conference championships, marketing power, recruiting base, Heisman hopefuls, etc. are all meretricious qualities. Your stadium needs to be AT LEAST as big as MSU's in order to be considered a big time program. Everything else is just superficial. That means only 22 teams out of Division 1's 117 are big time...based on their stadiums being as big or bigger than MSU's. Smart.
Are you calling us a midmajor because our stadium seats 60,000 people? Does that mean that Arizona State, Misouri, Iowa, VT, Pitt, Illinois, Purdue, Virginia, Ole Miss, WVU, Oklahoma State, TT, Iowa State, Miss State, Colorado, KSU, Minnesota, Indiana, Northwester, Miami, Boston College, Cincinnati, etc. are midmajors because their stadium seat less than MSU? You do realize that Rice's stadium is only a tiny bit smaller than MSU's. Does that make them big time like you?
Blah blah blah. Midmajor midmajor midmajor. Do you know what midmajor means? Do you realize you have to be outside of the 6 BCS conferences? Meaning, if you're in the Pac-10, Big-10, SEC, Big East, ACC, or Big 12 you're not a midmajor?
Um, it is my understanding that USC quit AFTER our loss. Let me get this straight. You think that USC was ranked 5th in the country with legitimate NC or Rose Bowl hopes, and decided to quit the day before playing us? And generally, teams with talented players get better as the season goes on, not worse. So OSU, in actuality, played the worse team.
Further, how would you explain Oregon beating USC in 2007 when they were ranked 4th or 5th or 6th or whatever it was? Did they quit then too?
Hold on now, mid-major. You're trying to throw Terrelle Pryor numbers at me like they mean anything? Everyone knows Terrelle Pryor sucks. That's why it's going to be so funny watching Ohio State stomp your mid-major players.
Bottom line, you're a loser. Your team is a bunch of losers, your coach is a loser, your conference is filled with losers, you guys can't win shit, you suck, and you can't say ANYTHING to refute that because...it's statistically and factually true. Just look at the numbers, stats, and records. The only thing that sucks about the Pac-10 is our bowl schedule, which is our FORMER AD's fault. You guys stink. And you can't play the "if we played your schedule" card. UO: #15 SOS. MSU: #25 SOS. Fuck u.
Oh, and for the record (I don't know why I never mentioned this): I currently live in Illinois. That's right--the heart of Big 10 country. I have to deal with you people regularly. But my favorite part is meeting people from Mich, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, etc. who went to UO and moved back to the Midwest, and all of them say the same thing: the gameday atmosphere at UO is INFINITELY better than all their hometown Big-10 teams. They say Big-10 games sound like a wake. Everybody sits...silence.
Oh, and for the record...it's 60,000 fans. And we do have fun, thank you. It's really easy having fun when you get to watch wildly fun football, your team consistently ranks in the upper-echelon in the country, your stadium is regularly voted the loudest and best experience IN THE COUNTRY, and you have sweet uniforms. But, maybe watching your team lose regularly in front of a WHOPPING 75,000 fans is your idea of fun? I don't know. Never tried. Send me a 6-6 post card from your Whatever Bowl.
I read so many article about how the Big 10 is just embarrassing itself of late, how they're out of touch with college football, and wall themselves into their conference while ignoring the better football being played elsewhere. I also read about how the Pac-10 is the deepest league and has the most exciting games. Our league is also the toughest because we play a round-robin schedule (surprise! MSU doesn't have to play OSU this year...wait, what?), and your teams are slow and games are boring
And allow me to just belt this out one more time because it's so much fun: you lost to CMU at home, you're actually 6-6 despite saying 7-6, you've had twice as many losing seasons the past 7 years as Oregon's had in the past 15, your best season of late was a weak 9-4, the Big 10 was 1-6 in bowls while P-10 was 5-0 last year, your conference hasn't won a BCS in ages, P-10 leads the all time B-10 vs P-10 Rose Bowl match up, while you venerate your league, the rest of the country points and laughs
More people watched MSU-PSU than UO-UA? "Just a guess"? Is this the same intuition you used for UO-Cal? UO-USC? Our recruiting? Or all the other shit you got wrong? Something tells me that the College Gameday crew's game of the week on national TV pulled in more viewers than a midday yawn-fest between crappy PSU and horrible MSU. And even if they didn't, I don't get what the big deal is. So more people watching means better football or better players? I don't get your point. At all.
Yes, you're right...7-6 is HARDLY a losing season. But if that's what you want to hang your hat on, that's cool. Here at Oregon, we demand 9-11 win seasons every year. Then again, after suffering through losing season after losing, your 7-6 record must be nice. If only you played the likes of Utah and Boise State. Oh wait....shouldn't you work on beating someone like Central Michigan at home before talking about taking on good mid-major teams for you out-of-conference slate? I think you should.
Yeah? You think Michigan State would be better playing the likes of Utah? The same way #2 Alabama was better off playing them last year in the Sugar Bowl? Yeah? Is that where you really want to go? You see, that's one of our NON-CONFERENCE games we play. We play tough ones in order to prepare ourselves for the deepest conference in NCAA. And this is while you play Montana State and Central Michigan. Best part is, you LOST to Central Mich AT HOME. Lol.
Uhhhhhh, have you watched the same OSU team I have? They lost to PURDUE AND USC AT HOME!!!!!!!!! Michigan has the worst D maybe ever, and Terrell Pryor went 9/17 for 67 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, we're scared. The same way we were scared when we beat Michigan twice, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Texas. Watch out, big-bad OSU is coming to play us. I mean, they couldn't beat USC at home, while they played a true freshman QB and lost their entire D.
So, again, enjoy your losing season...again. Enjoy watching your conference go 1-6, 2-5, or 3-4 in bowl games. Enjoy another losing season by MSU. Enjoy watching OSU win your conference again. Enjoy no big games to end your conference. Enjoy watching Oregon on ESPN classic tonight as an "Instant Classic". Enjoy your slow, out-of-date teams. Enjoy Terrell "I suck" Pryor being the face of your conference. And enjoy Oregon being the youngest team in the country, which means they'll only get better.
Regardless, I'll take a ranking "up there with Utah, BYU, Boise State, and Houston." Why? Because BYU plays in a harder conference than the Big-10 in the Mountain West, Houston has a likely Heisman finalist, BYU has beaten Oklahoma, Boise has beaten Oklahoma, Utah has beaten Alabama and ended season ranked 2nd twice this decade, and most of the teams are regularly in the top-20. I'd rather be in their company than loser Big-10 teams who can't beat anyone with a pulse, play boring ball, and suck.
And again, you can keep going with this theme of mid-major. I don't really care. Especially because it makes you sound ridiculous, and like you have no idea what a mid-major is. Because Oregon isn't a mid-major. Hahahaha. It's so funny. I mean, you're either using caustic sarcasm, or you really...just...don't...have...a...clue.
And yet again, Oregon is on the front page of every news site--ESPN, Sports Illustrated, FoxSports, etc-- Masoli earned national player of the week on most sites, we're ranked in the top-10 again, LaMike James set a Pac-10 record for freshman rushing in the P-10, everyone is talking about us, and we now play Oregon State in the Civil War (one of the oldest rivalries in the country) on ESPN for the Rose Bowl. Big games? You want to talk about big games?
So you think I'm wrong for pointing out Ohio State? A team that has been embarrassed the past 6 BCS bowl games. A team that managed only 21 points against a HORRIBLE Michigan D, despite the fact that Michigan turned the ball over 5 times. HAVE YOU SEEN TERRELL PYROR'S STats???!!!!!?!?! They're atrocious!! Ohio State lost to Purdue and USC at home and that's you're dominant program? I just don't understand how you can't see the FACT that you're conference has been simply bad since--what?-- 2002.
You want to talk about big games? While Florida played FIU, Alabama played Chattanooga, Mich and OSU put people to sleep, Iowa put people in a coma, and ND lost again, the Pac-10 featured 2 games with 3 ranked teams and a really good Arizona team. One went to double overtime, the other was decided by a last-second interception in the endzone, and the Oregon game was carried by Gameday (again) on national T.V. (again). AND both games carried Rose Bowl implication. Yet, you play all the big games?
Hahaha. Let's recap. You said Purdue would have 2 wins. They reached 5 (and the ones they lost were as close as close gets). You said Oregon would lose to Cal. Nice. You said Oregon would lose to USC. Nice. You said Oregon doesn't recruit good players. Yet, they've had higher ranked classes than MSU in 8/10 past years. You said Big 10's bad team would be top Pac-10 teams. Yet, Oregon beats Michigan twice. You said Pac-10 is Pac-1 +9; but Ohio State has won past 5 Big-10 titles. You're smart.
And the best part about Gameday visits--the games. Your visits: unranked Notre Dame and MSU (the default game because of Ivan), 5 PSU at MSU, and 5 UM at 14 MSU (must have been decent in 1997).
Our visits: 8 UCLA at UO, 6 Cal at 11 UO, 4 ASU at 6 UO, 5 USC at 10 UO. Not to mention we were involved in two others, 12 UO at 2 UCLA and this week at UA. That's technically 6 to your 3. So that's that I think. How about instead of being patronizing, you do some research and stop being wrong. Hahahaha!
And hey, asshole, you want to know what I really think about College Gameday? I think they've been to Oregon 4 times since they're inception, and MSU 3 times. One of your trips was 1997 (were you even alive?), and the other time the site was LSU-Auburn but had to be moved because of Hurricane Ivan, so that was a default visit. So yeah--you were wrong again. And what would you know, Gameday is making the trip out west again to watch Oregon play Arizona. Why not dominant, awesome, big time MSU?
Meanwhile, I'll just keep enjoying yet another stellar season by my Ducks, another likely top-10 finish and 10 or 11 win season as a dominant team in the Pac-10--a super competitive BCS conference, as you would know, and watch as they probably start next year in the top-5, considering they return 19 out of 22 starters. ALSO, Oregon will have two Heisman frontrunner next year in LaMichael James and Jeremiah Masoli. How does MSU look next year? Any Heisman hopefuls? No? Not really? Too bad.
You do realize we're the best team in the deepest conference in the country. And you're a middle-of-the-pack team in the worst league in the country. I've blissfully spent all day reading on ESPN, FoxSports, and Yahoo that the Big 10 is an embarrassment and OSU is one of the weakest champs in recent memory. You were 1-6 in bowls last year, and have a 6 game losing streak in BCS games. Whether OSU plays Oregon, Stanford, or Oregon State, they're going to be absolutely ruined. Thanks Big 10--er 1
Speaking of sucking, OHIO STATE IS YOUR CHAMP!!!! They're HORRIBLE. You want to call us the Pac-1? So why aren't you the Big-1? I believe that's their 5th title in a row. Big 1.
And by the way, if you would just check any recruiting site, you would find that Oregon has recruited better players than MSU almost every year the last 10. And you still want to talk about our loss to Stanford? After they beat USC and got ranked 14th? Tell me about that Central Michigan loss at home.
Still want to talk shit about Purdue? You seemed to be pretty high on the fact that Oregon just barely beat them. Um, You just barely beat them. Not only have they doubles the amount of wins you predicted (yes, you were wrong again), but they look like a decent, yet inexperienced, team. It'll be nice when they beat Indiana and wind up a 5-win team with WILDY close losses. Sure they suck, but not as bad you you thought. And what a surprise the whole Big 10 sucks.
And you're right--Oregon probably couldn't build a stadium right now. But that's not because they don't have the funds. It's because they allocated those funds towards a 160,000,000 million dollar basketball stadium that will be the nicest in the country as well as numerous academic buildings, such as THE NICEST student learning center in the country, among other things. At the blink of an eye, Oregon could build a stadium that would trump most or all Big10 stadiums. But, we love Autzen.
I like this small time angle you keep going with. It really makes no sense. You are one of the worst researchers I've ever encountered. You're perpetually wrong, and it doesn't even bother you. Where do you get the idea we have one donor? We have numerous donors, all giving ridiculous amounts of money to the school. There's a reason we have some of the nicest, high-tech, and energy-efficient buildings as well as state-of-the-art sports facilities. Our football facilities trump all in Big 10.
I'm interested to watch the Michigan State v. Purdue game this weekend. I wonder if Purdue will dominate the game like they did out in Oregon. What do you think?
Congratulations on College Game Day. I'm guessing Michigan State has had CGD more than Oregon. What do you think?
Oh yeah. I almost forgot. Nice win this weekend. I'm sure your POWERHOUSE school's victory over a 4-6 MAC school must have been really satisfying. I hope everyone made it to your GIANT stadium to relish the victory. Enjoy your...what is it?...6th or 7th losing season this decade? Cheers, mate .
Just for clarification, could you explain why Oregon's offense is a gimmick? A gimmick is the Winged T, triple option, option, trick plays, laterals, etc. Oregon just runs where there are less defenders and throws the ball to the TE and WR (I don't know if you have those positions in non-gimmick land). So pray! Do tell... how is it a gimmick? Because the QB runs every now and again? Is it because John Gruden comes to our school to study our offense? I'm excited to hear this.
I hope to God you guys lose @ Purdon't. You were already wrong about them being a 2 win team. Then again, you've been wrong about Cal, USC, our funding, our recruiting, our team speed, our standing as a major university, and whatever else, so that's no surprise. It's so funny.
And you can mention Rich Rodriguez, but, ummm, Penn State, Ohio State, Purdue, and Illiois all run a spread version. It's everywhere. And Oregon's is so simple. Again, no gimmick. It's run right, run left, pass.
By the way, your team's victories are over Illinois, Montana State, Michigan, Northwestern, and Western Michigan. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Awesome season. Soak it up, buddy. Keep pointing at other Division 1 BCS schools and calling the "mid-majors". Whatever assuages the pain. You're a loser fan, with loser knowledge, attending a loser school. Keep losing, loser. Go to Oregon for a year--you'll feel like a winner.
The fact of the matter is, Oregon is still ranked 13 (top ten in power rankings), has navigated one of the 10 hardest schedules in the country quite well, are first place in the Pac, are in control to go to the Rose Bowl, and are still a wildly talked about team. Michigan State, on the other hand, is 5-5, unranked, forgotten, buried, and ignored, and 6th place in the Small 10. Congrats. I hope your HUGE stadium of 72,000 fans enjoy watching that shit.
Whatever, we lost to Stanford. It's none as a trap game. Most pundits predicted Stan. to be one of Oregon's 2 losses this year. They are perfectly built to beat Oregon. They play 7 offensive linemen, they have a 240lb FB and a 240 RB. It's the perfect offense to exploit our D's small and fast players. They're a top 25 team with NFL QB and RB, will beat whoever plays them in a bowl, and it was on the road. Not that surprising.
"I think you'd have a tough time building a new stadium." Hahaha, based on what? How do you even conclude this? Are you a writer for US Weekly, making shit up? The things you say are pure speculation. You've rarely been correct in anything you say. You just say shit because you think it's cheeky, yet there is no evidence of truth.
Oregon is constructing a $165,000,000 basketball stadium that will undoubtedly be the finest in the country. If it wanted, the school good outbuild any B10 school.
Have a tough time building a new stadium? HAVE A TOUGH TIME BUILDING A NEW STADIUM? You are seriously daft, and your ignorance continues to leave me utterly nonplussed. Not only is our "1 donor" THE FOUNDER OF NIKE, but we have countless other strong donors and a completely self-reliant athletic system.
You're right. We wouldn't be .500 in the Small 10. We'd be .750 or higher. You have such a hack, has-been, slow, boring, fat, ugly, and outdated conference that consistently finds ways to lose to SEC, Big 12, and Pac-10 teams.
And let's count, again, since you're too dumb to figure shit out on your own. National televsion: BSU, USC, ASU, probably UA, and OSU. That's 5. And no matter what you want to say, that was one of the coolest and most anticipated College Gamedays in a long while.
Congratulations on defeating USC. Oregon truly is a mid-major, aren't you? Just like Boise State, your team gets up for the one game of the season.
Congratulations on being on national television for the first time all year, too. I believe you actually had better ratings than the Michigan State/Minnesota game on the BTN.
Balmdeezy... you're so smart. I wish I knew as much about college football as you. USC sure had their way with us. I wish we were as good as them.
It's a good thing our "gimmick offense" worked. I mean, there is no way USC saw Run Right and Run Left coming. We out-gimmicked them.
"The Ducks' running backs had their way with us, and they were much too fast. It was a real mess with the running game." Carroll But... we're not as fast as USC. Right? Right?
I have to end here for now. I don't feel very well right now. I feel over-saturated with Duck articles and stories. They're everywhere. I mean, "nobody knows us", but I can' stop hearing about them. ESPN, Sports Illustrated, CNN sports, Fox Sports, all local media outlets, First Take, Around the Horn, College Football Live, Gameday, AHHHHHHHH, I can't stop seeing Dukcs!!!!!! Yet, nobody knows us. Hey, is MSU playing this weekend?
I ran out of space. And I'm done researching. The point is, you were wrong...again. I just picked a bunch of guys--some starting, some sitting, and one just committed a few weeks ago--and look at that. They were--gasp--offered by "respectable schools".
Sorry buddy. I like arguing and talking with college football fans. I'm open to many perspectives and opinions. You, sadly, are not a college football fan. You're a blind, ignorant, homer, know-nothing idiot fan from MSU. Wake up, buddy.
And your comment about our recruiting is stupid. Every time you open your mouth, you make it VERY apparent that you only follow Michigan State and know NOTHING about college football. College football is the only thing I follow, only occasionally stopping to pay attention to the Dodgers and Lakers. I would take my knowledge over your bias any day. The more you say, the more you make it clear you really don't follow college football on a larger scale.
And you say it only works against Washington and Washington State? So how do you explain our wins against Colorado, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Texas...
And before you run your mouth off about USC being better than UO (which they may be on paper, because they're the best team in the country every year), I should mention that UO is 7-5 against USC the past 12 games, and the last time they met in Autzen as top-10 teams, Oregon won 24-17. So....just saying.
How are you small time athletics when everyone in the country knows about us, we have countless top-15 finishes, Heisman candidates, numerous 10-win seasons, and a marketing machine backing us in Nike?
And again, our offense isn't really a gimmick. It's simplified. That's all. I don't understand how handing the ball off left, right, and center, and passing like any other team makes it a gimmick. Chip Kelly says it constantly, it's nothing fancy, gimmicky, or flashy. It's just basic football.
If the the football program asked for it, we could have a state-of-the-art, top-notch, mammoth stadium built in 2 years. We have Nike backing us, it's a self-reliant football program, and they make a ton of money (there's no athletic competition in the state). But the school doesn't want it. They PREFER having a stadium of 60,000 fans built PERFECTLY to trap noise, making it the most intimidating and loudest stadium in the country.
Um...mid-major in what sense? Mid-major in that they're in one of the most prestigious conferences in football, they're an automatic BCS qualifier, and they're a marketing giant? Okay, I'll take it.
Um, it's not a high school stadium. It's a perfectly constructed stadium that maximizes noise. You think we don't have the funds, space, or resources to have a giant stadium? Since we're in the process of building, literally, the countries nicest basketball stadium, I can assure you we do.
Yes, Florida has had success with the gimmick spread, but Urban Meyer has publicly stated that he plans to scrap it after Tebow graduates because it is an ineffective offense against quality competition.
Oregon's gimmicks work against Washington and Washington State and Arizona, but it's a high school offense.
And Florida backed into its two national championships. You can't honestly believe that they were half as good as USC. A FL/USC matchup would have been a beatdown.
Face it, oregon is SMALL TIME ATHLETICS! No one cares about you. The only televised game you will have all season is against USC and I would be shocked if you keep it close.
USC- the only respectable team in the pac10- will completely outclass your tiny school.
Your team brings nothing to the table. Absolutely nothing. No one wants to watch a crappy defense and a gimmick offense.
You listed Oklahoma State and Michigan as examples of the gimmick spread????
The ONLY thing oregon has going for them is that you are located in a beautiful state and have great facilities. That is only two attributes out of 100s.
No, you can't count your high school stadium being loud. I've been in high school gymnasiums that are load. Not something to hang your hat on.
Wow. I can't believe I'm actually taking heat from a fucking MID-MAJOR UNIVERSITY. This is more embarrassing than losing to Notre Dame.
If you recruited better than Michigan State during the John L. Smith era, it wasn't by much. Look at your recruits! You rarely get a top prospect who was OFFERRED by a respectable school.
By the way, watch the game this Saturday. It should be a good one, whatever the result.
P.S.
I'm pissed you lost to Iowa. You really could have helped us out by winning. I still have Ohio State to hang my hope on. After all, I can't expect a second-rate Big 10 team like MSU to hang on against this year's power in the Big-10.
Also, do you have anything to say about Purdue? I mean, would you admit they're better than you thought? Or is their win just indicative of how bad the Big-10 is?
I would love for Oregon to play MSU this year. Oregon would anally ravage your crying team, who would be screaming for their mothers but surreptitiously enjoying every second of the ass-raping carnage deployed by the ducks. Then, the ducks would spit on your back, and, thinking it was over, MSU would turn around, only to be shot in the face by Oregon ji**. MSU would collectively announce, "Wow! Duck ji** tastes like chicken!" Then, the whole country would laugh and say, "Holy shit, Big 10 sucks"
But you're right. Nobody knows us. We don't play big games. The Pac-10 is nothing. If only Gameday would come to Eugene and skip a big SEC match-up like Georgia and Florida.
Oh, what's that? Gameday IS coming to Eugene? You mean a game between top-10 teams with national championship, BCS, and conference implications is happening on Halloween? You mean Gameday will make it's 3rd appearance in Eugene in 3 years. Wow. I DEFINITELY thought they'd visit Minnesota for the MSU game. Eat dick, loser.
Buddy, you just don't get it. OREGON IS BUILT ON SPEED. Again, you don't have the defensive stats they do without being fast. They don't recruit leftovers. In fact, they've had more highly rated recruiting classes throughout the decade than MSU. We recruit out of Florida, North Carolina, Texas, California, wherever we want. EVERYONE KNOWS US. We're fast, we have awesome uniforms (that actually, scientifically, make us faster...thanks Nike), we win, we have great facilities, etc.
You're right. They're not a top-25 team. They're a top-10 team, actually. If you honestly want to argue their talent, you're not just "standing by your team" or "playing favorites", you're being stupid.
Oregon runs a gimmick offense? Really? Is that the same gimmick offense run by Ohio State, Penn State, Boise State, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Cal, Miami, Oklahoma State, West, Virginia, Michigan... How is it a gimmick when all they do is hand off left, hand off right, and pass? Sounds normal.
I don't know how else to tell you this, but oregon is not a fast team. They never were. They probably never will be, considering you have to get the left over recruits from major programs.
And you can't honestly believe oreg. is a top 25 team. Do you? What is your team good at? You run a freaking gimmick offense for crying out loud.
It was Oregon's to win '07 until injuries crushed us. And it was Oregon State's to win '08 until Oregon stomped on the last game. USC backed in to those championships. It hasn't been utter dominance. When was the last time MSU won their division? Oh, right, 1990. Also, check your stadium stats: Big-10 has 3 huge stadiums. Everyone else is Pac-10 size or smaller. We have two 90,000+ and three 70,000 plus. Northwestern, IU, and Minn are all small. You act like we don't have big stadiums.
When was the last time the Pac-10 came down to the last game of the season? Uh...last year. And what about the Big 10? And you act like the Pac-10 stinks just because they've won the league the past 7 years. It's not our fault that the best team in the nation with the most talent in the nation plays in our conference. And it's not like there has been parity in the Big 10. Ohio State has been champ 5-7 years. And 2 of USC's championships were handed to them, not earned (2007, 2008).
And what perfect timing with the BCS rankings. So, where is MSU? I didn't see them in there. Maybe I was too busy looking at Oregon's #11 ranking. Or maybe I was too busy listening to Gaemday guys and news outlets call Oregon the best 1-loss team in the country with Miami. I'll look for MSU again. After I double check to see if Oregon is at #11. I kind of forgot. Boy, it's tough being a Duck. But it must be great being an MSU fan. I mean, you get to play Notre Dame every year.
And yeah, Ohio State looked real good this weekend. Actually, Purdue is doing exactly what I said they'd be doing: giving people fits. Have you watched their games? Take out some bad mistakes (which happen with young teams), and they're a one-loss team. As all analysts have said, they're the best 2-loss team in the country and even though they can't close out, they play HARD and have proven time and again they can hang with anyone. Or is it just that the top B-10 teams aren't as good as Oregon?
Believe me, the Pac-10 would love to schedule more Big-10 teams because they're easy marquee victories (OSU, PSU, and UM are all big time schools who stink). But after Michigan got stomped by Oregon (twice) and Ohio State got beat up by USC, they don't want to travel to our stadiums (seeing as ours is the loudest in the country and teams just don't win there).
Yeah, I'm sure the AD would like to schedule with Michigan. Which Oregon did. And we beat them. Twice. Impress me more. And you say the Pac-10's only big game is with Notre Dame? Oh, so playing Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, Kansas State, LSU, Utah, Boise State, Iowa, among others just this year, isn't big? Hmmm. Interesting theory.
Need I mention that one of the games of the year will be taking place in Eugene when Oregon hosts USC? You know, the one that will be a true nationally televised game and probably be where the Gameday crew goes? Wow, Gameday has visited Oregon 3 times in the past 3 years. How many times for MSU in the same time? Oh yeah, Oregon-Oregon State last year was for all the marbles. It was, needless to say, a pretty big game. Also Oregon has already been televised for Boise and will be for Oregon State.
It's apparent you don't understand how television and slotting work. Only a few teams make national coverage each week. And again, just because one of your Big 10 teams are on ABC doesn't mean the whole country is watching it. The west, east, and south all have their own telecasts. Notre Dame being the exception with their contract with NBC, true nationally televised games vary and change based on scheduling and and timing, not so much as it is based on whether or not you're in the Big 10. Sorry
Also, you seem to have this weird thing about the Ducks not being on T.V. Are you that stupid? You do realize that games are televised regionally, right? I mean, just because MSU is on T.V. in Michigan and the Midwest does not mean the rest of the country is watching that game. The Ducks WERE on T.V.--ABC. But just like the East coast watched a Miami game, the Midwest watched probably a Michigan game, the South watched something else, and the West watched Oregon.
Hello my friend. Aaahhh, it's been a while. I've missed your stupidity and ignorance, so I am back again.
Sorry buddy. If you don't recognize the fact that Oregon is fast (seeing as that's how they recruit to stock their spread offense and defend against other spread Os), then you just don't get it. In recruiting magazines, by recruits, on television...they're simply recognized as an extremely fast ad athletic team. That's their modus operandi. And any COLLEGE FOOTBALL fan would know that.
But those championship games only happen once in a blue moon in the PAC10. When was the last time the conference championship came down to the last game of the season?
I know Oregon State had a chance to go to Pasadena a couple years ago, so that could be considered a big game.
It's all about atmosphere and eyeballs. I'm not talking about 30K PAC10 fans cheering for their team. I'm talking 80-110K stadium played in front of millions of viewers.
We'll try this one more time. If you were to approach the Oregon AD and give him his choice to schedule any two teams in the entire nation, he would choose Notre Dame and Michigan.
Michigan State plays those two teams EVERY season, not to mention Penn Sate and Ohio State, who happen to probably be #3 and 4 on your ADs list.
That is what is meant by BIG GAMES. Now, your definition is a fair one -- that championship games are the biggest games -- which is true to certain extent as well.
Nice argument about Notre Dame....not. So because Notre Dame plays 4 PAC10 teams this year means.....what?
All it means is that their are 4 PAC teams who have ONE big game the entire season (and probably for the decade).
Even when PAC teams play USC (the only team of value in that wasteland of a conference), it's really not that big of a game because no one watches! haha.
LA is a congested, smoggy shithole. I was there last year. What a disappointment.
Don't let your football jealousy converge with your geographical jealousy. Oregon is a very nice area. Not as nice as Michigan, but not too shabby.

Have fun with PAC stats. lol
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Congratulations on getting Dior Mathis. Now you can lay claim to finally having a "fast" athlete, instead of hyping up your mid-major leftover recruits.
Yes, I expect Oregon to have success in the PAC10, much the same way Boise State will continue to have success in the WAC.
Your league is absolute shit. Maybe you can luck out and get Illinois in the Rose Bowl in the future. You might actually have a chance against them.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
haha your a fucking retard! i wonder who your team is! duesch bag! GO DUCKS!!!
stvgoducks 2 years ago

PROUD TO BE A DUCK TIL THE DAY I FUCKING DIE BITCH!!!!!!!
stvgoducks 2 years ago
@balmdeezy Dude if Terrelle Pryor was well enough to play obviously he aint very injured. The turnovers are what costed Oregon that game. Don't be talking crap saying Big 10 is better. Oregon's back this year baby
ducksfan32 1 year ago
Oh yeah, when I said they return 10 starters, that's just on offense. It's 19 over all. So enjoy another decade of the Ducks being successful while MSU hovers around mediocrity and even dabbles in shitty years.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And oh yeah. Even though I'm not, I'd rather be from Oregon than your cold, shitty, dumpy, economically blasted hell-hole of a state in Michigan.
While you're stuck in Mich questioning your life and school, I'm in LA. and happy. I have a great job, I get to eat outside, enjoy my days going to brilliant bars, and enjoy the company of LA women, who are amongst the sexiest in the world. Enjoy your Midwest cows--er--women in your shit weather in your dumpy state.
Talk to you next year buddy.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
If you honestly think that Oregon football is a gimmick and slow, you're just dumb. I'll never change your opinion.
Either way, Oregon logged another P-10 championship, another 10 win season, and just missed another top 10 finish (#11). At least we return 19 players and have an incredibly bright future. How's Michigan State looking next year? Starting the near ranked top 5? Didn't think so.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I do have to say, I was surprised by bowl results as a whole. But things aren't linear in college football. They change. The Pac-10 had a wildly successful bowl record the past 3 years while the Big-10 had a rubbish record. It was bound to turn sooner or later. It's all cyclical.
The Big-10's bowl record would have been better if Michigan State could have beaten a crappy Big-12 team without its head coach. Haha.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Well, I'm back. Good game, good game. I'm very disappointed, as Oregon clearly had the momentum with them until Blount squandered that with the most ridiculous fumble I've ever seen. That was a joke. Kicking it through the end zone 20 yards away? That's just bad luck.
Fact is, Oregon is primed for the future. Already, Oregon was ranked #4 for 2010. And they're coming in with 2 Heisman candidates. They won the Pac by 2 games and played in the RB WITH A 1ST YEAR COACH and return 10 starters.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Your little mid-major, bitch-ass program doesn't belong on the fucking field with the Big Ten. Stay in the pacific northwest and find another sport to follow.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Now shut your mid-major ass the fuck up. You were never in this game. Even when it was close Oregon was not in this game.
Your conference is a joke, as is the Oregon football program.
And where the fuck do you EVER fucking get off talking badly about the Big Ten or Michigan State University.
You don't shit about college football. You're from the pacific northwest for christ sakes. Stick with backpacking and cross country if you know what's best for you.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
@balmdeezy michigan state's program fucking sucks, as does 5'8 dior mathis..your lucky to even be in the big ten
mikerobinsonn 2 years ago
Now listen carefully, Oregon fan. I hope you were taking notes on how real football is played. 25-17 late in the 4th qrt.
Feel fortunate that your team had some big kick returns or you might not have scored a fucking point.
Your team plays in a shit conference and it showed tonight. Do you really think Oregon will ever have success against a Big Ten team in a meaningful game?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
LOL.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
You didn't answer my question. Why does the Big Ten always have the fastest 40 times? Do you use another measurement for speed?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
You write too much. I didn't read much of it. You can point to some ESPN article and claim whatever you want, but take a look at revenue. The Big Ten reigns supreme...as always.
Your players are slow, your offense is gimmick, your school is mid-major. Ohio State is going to control this game for 60 minutes.
This isn't a guess. It's a fact.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Hmmm, interesting. Oregon mentioned in the same sentence with OSU, UT, and a "handful of others". I mean, they probably could have referenced Miami, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida State, etc. But it was Oregon. Why? Because we're now every bit the equal to many powerhouse schools based on our performance, success, popularity, and fan base. Do you think MSU crossed their minds while naming off UT and OSU? My guess is no.
Who knows, maybe our rise to power has relegated MSU to midmajor ;)
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Allow me to summarize since you're dumb: the OTL/ESPN report suggests that the biggest money grabbers in college football are in the SEC. This is obvious. However, they claim that some elite-level, money-makers such as Texas, Ohio State, and OREGON are powerful enough to run step for step with any SEC power.
Is this the quality of an unsuccessful mid-major school? You claim we aren't big enough to compete with others, yet we're mentioned as financial and performance equals to UT, OSU, and SEC.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Interesting article on ESPN about money and power in college football, proving your claims wrong.
Oregon is mentioned: Although Texas, Ohio State, Oregon (AKA Nike U), and a handful of others match strides--and maybe even manage to get a step ahead at times--with the big boys in the Southeast, the commercialism in college football is more consistently and vividly on display on SEC campuses in towns such as Gainesville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Athens, and Columbia.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
California leftovers? Right. And you're not stocked with Ohio/Michigan leftovers. Please. Have fun being the second-rate school in your state hoping every year that players choose you over Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan.
And my youth comment isn't an excuse. In fact, it's going to make OSU look that much worse when they lose. I was merely pointing out the fact that this team is 10-2, Pac-10 champs, and Rose Bowl participants while young. Imagine another year of experience.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
If you can't realize that Oregon has been a power for 15+ years, then you're not a college football fan. You're just a Michigan State fan and Big-10 homer. You need to stop your myopic thinking and give a team its due when necessary.
Do you know why I don't give Wake Forest its due when they have a good year? Because that's what it is: a good year. Oregon has been on top for nearly 2 decades now. Open your eyes and start watching college football...it's a fun sport.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I can't hear you. We're writing. And who the hell is Chris Johnson? Yeah, way to follow football. He's only the best RB in the NFL and is probably going to win the MVP.
You do realize that Big 12, SEC, ACC, and Pac-10 fans, although we hate each other, still always agree on one thing: how the Big-10 is slow and boring, and when you watch a Big-10 team's highlight video, it's like watching Miami or USC or Oregon or Oklahoma in slow motion. Not to mention it's just boring football.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
That is hilarious what Chris Johnson said- whoever the hell that is. It's even funnier that the Big Ten always has the fastest 40 times. Every year. Did you hear that? That's every year if you didn't hear me correctly. Is there another measurement of fast that you were referring to? hehe.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
At least you tipped your hand at the reason for losing to Ohio State. Inexperience, huh? Is that going to be the only reason. Good luck with the California leftover recruits, middy.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Do you even realize we are talking about OREGON here? Freakin OREGON. What has the world come to? My god.
This is the state of OREGON. The university of OREGON. How in the hell are you even in the discussion when it comes to college football?
Honestly.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
I COULDN'T RESIST...I read this today:
Chris Johnson (NFL leading rusher) on Ted Ginn (former Ohio State Buckeye)
Hes pretty fast, but a lot of people get it mistaken at the conference he played at. Was it the Big Ten? Theyre a slow conference. They dont have fast guys in that conference. It automatically makes him look like hes a real fast guy.
Hahaha, oh man.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Don't worry. You guys will be alright. Someone has to topple tOSU. Is your stud linebacker leaving? Greg Jones I think? He's a beast. And unless a ton of teams jump you in the coming months, you look to have a decent recruiting class. top-30 at this point.
You guys will be fine. I mean you haven't been to a BCS bowl game since the 1988 Rose Bowl. You're overdue. Oregon had a huge drought from 60s-early 90s. Now we've been to 3 in the past 12 or 15 years. Happy Holidays and good luck vs. TT.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Oh, and we haven't signed Dior Mathis yet. I've just read we're in the lead for his services. No surprise there. UO is used to getting top-tier talent these days. It's been going on for about a decade or more. We just don't get a TON of it. We still have to find diamonds-in-the-rough and coach them up. Coaching--it's pretty important in football. And we've got one of the best in the country.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And why is it frustrating that Oregon gets to play in the RB? It's a game, generally, between Pac-10 vs. Big-10. We've been a Pac-8/10 tea since the early 1900s. We won the league, it's our right to go. If you're frustrated, tell your team to get off its ass and win something.
You can't be frustrated that we figured out how to win our conference this year and you didn't. But I get why you're so upset. I know how big this game is. I grew up 30 minutes from Pasadena/UCLA/USC (LA kid). It's HUGE.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
It's not right that a tradition rich school MSU isn't in the Rose Bowl and we are? It's not our fault we can recruit and coach.
Yeah, Ohio State's alright. THey have the advantage of playing one of the 3 youngest teams in the country. Outside of experience, they have 0 clear-cut advantages over this Oregon team. This team is stacked and is going to be good for years to come.
Even though we only get the leftovers ;)
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
It's very frustrating to watch a school like Oregon get the opportunity to play in the biggest bowl game in the country- bigger than the Super Bowl, IMO, while a tradition-rich university like Michigan State hasn't been in years. It's not right.
It's like those lotto winners who work as janitors cleaning toilets. Merry Xmas.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Yeaaaah, I just don't see it. Congratulations on getting Dior Mathis. He was a plan A recruit for Michigan State, so that has to be a first for Oregon. Usually your school has to settle for the leftovers, yes?
Congratulations on making the Rose Bowl. There is no doubt in my mind that Ohio State is the much better team, even with Pryor at QB.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Oh yeah, for good measure: this year's Oregon team is the first Pac-10 team to win the conference by a 2 game margin since Washington did it in 1991--the year they won the national championship.
I know you middle-America, tradition-loving, corn-fed, sport-ignorant know-it-alls don't want to accept it; but you have to. Oregon has been a power for a long time now, and that's not changing any time soon.
And believe me, I think OSU has a chance to win. We both do. It's a good matchup. Cheers.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You like to think that Oregon has put together 2 cute years. You do realize we've been a Pac-8/10 team since forever. And also that we've been consistent winners since the early 90s. I agree, some school put together a cute year or two, which is what we call a fad. But when you have nearly 20 years of winning and even dominance, it's no longer a fad or even trend--it's a fact. And it won't be ending any time soon. We have one of the youngest teams with a stacked bench. Returning on O: 10. D: 9.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Our recruiting class has moved up to 28th, and looks to finish top-20 very easily; Dior Mathis actually looks to be favoring the Ducks; we're currently ranked #7 (again in the top 10); every ranking publication has said, win or lose, the Ducks have locked a top-5 ranking next year; we have TWO Heisman contenders for next year in Masoli and James; we've been to 9 bowl games in the last decade. Just some fun stuff I read. BTW, we're still not mid-major. We're Pac-10 BCS automatic qualifier ;)
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Here's some fun stuff for you to muse: LaMike James is 3rd team All-American as a frosh, and he won National Freshman Performer of the Year and Pac-10 Offeensive Freshman of the Year; Chip Kelly has been named Coach of the Year by numerous publications and will probably win it officially; Oregon and Oregon State have more wins this decade than the SoCal schools; Oregon has 7 less conference wins than USC this decade (yep, that's less than 1 per season for those who can't count).
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And how is that that USC, who ran step-for-step with tOSU, got KILLED by us; yet, tOSU is going to be too fast? Every article I have read so far has been the same thing: "Can Ohio State hang with Oregon's speed?" Even Tressel comments on one thing and one thing only, our speed and tempo. I could also name half our team who would be playing for tOSU, as I could name half your team that may play for us. Also, Pryor doesn't suck. He'd be a stud on our team. OSU doesn't know how to coach an athlete.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Every team we played that ran a ball control offense were stuffed by our D. Only one was successful, and that was Stanford. And tOSU can't replicate that because Stanford had a Heisman running back, a beefier O-line (using 7 O-linemen at times), and, most importantly, one of the best NFL QB prospects in the country who was able to prevent us from stacking the box. Otherwise, McKnight, Avery, Best, and Rodgers--all better than Big-10 RBs--were all stuffed. I'm not scared of your ball-control O.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You do realize we're favored? And at this point, it seems the Rose Bowl will have more Oregon fans than OSU fans. You also do realize that we played a first-ranked rush defense NUMEROUS times this year, and every time we rushed for over 200 yards. You just don't get it. It's not about playing this defense or that defense--our offense simply cannot be stopped. It can be slowed. But never stopped.
You also know that most offenses we played this year were ball-control? Oregon State, USC, Cal...
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Maybe you can claim a moral victory when Ohio State only beats you by 10 points, even though they will dominate the game.
You see, real football (not gimmick) actually plays ball control football and field position. These cute little mid-major 50-45 games don't happen in the Big Ten.
What are you going to say when Ohio State wins 23-13, but held you to 95 yards rushing and 150 yards passing? Will you claim a moral victory?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Do you honestly think you have a chance in the Rose Bowl? I guess that's the great thing about athletics. Every team can be optimistic before the coin toss.
Ohio State is bigger and faster than your leftover recruits. You don't have one player who would start for them ANYWHERE on the field, including special teams.
Mossoli would probably start at QB because Pryor sucks so bad, but that's about it.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
I just wonder if you'll change your tune when the Big Ten goes 5-2 in bowl games this year because the matchups are in the Big Ten's favor (aka "fair" games). Will you? Not that I care what a middie thinks, but I'm interested to see the reaction by the envious mob.
BTW, good job bringing up USC beating Penn State last year. It has been 4.5 posts since you rode their coattails.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Hahaha, real powerful words from your commissioner.
Regardless of how near-sighted you are, I will say this:
I'm really excited for this game. Face it--it's going to be great. And it's awesome we don't have to watch USC in the same bowl again. It's great matchup: the old school, conservative, traditional, methodical, plodding, long-time powerhouse VS. the progressive, flashy, trend-setting, sleek, unstoppable kind-of-new guy. The vest VS. the visor for the Grand Daddy Of 'Em All. I'm pumped.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
OSU lost its bowl game 24-21 to Texas in the Fiesta Bowl after a whopping 44-day layoff following its victory over rival Michigan.
Prior to that game, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney, having just watched Penn State get waxed by USC 38-24 in a game that was effectively over by halftime, sounded defeatist.
What about OSU-2, Texas-0? Delaney said of his meager hopes for a second Big Ten victory. Id be happy with that. Im just looking for a win.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
From a Midwest newspaper: The Ohio State football teams recent struggles in bowl games have been well-documented. The Big Ten conference as a whole has had difficulty winning its postseason matchups.
Last season, the Big Ten went 1-6 in bowl games as a conference, with Iowa notching the only win in the Outback Bowl over South Carolina.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And to close...
Four of the BCS computers rank conferences: and here is what was released today:
2. Pac-10 is a strong no. 2....The Pac-10 has played the fewest FCS opponents of the major conferences.
Yeah, we have 5 ranked teams.
4. The conferences ranked three through six tend to interchange with no. 6 split between the ACC and Big-10.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Yeah, nice big time football. The BCS computers rank your league ONE SPOT AHEAD OF THE MWC AND WAC!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You're pathetic.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You've been wrong all year. Literally, everything you've said for the entire season has ben incorrect. But you're so delusional that the only way you'll shut up and open your eyes that the Ducks are a big-time power and that the spread is...well, spreading is by UO beating tOSU. Which is fine. Because that should be easy. And you'll be wrong AGAIN. Call Dior Mathis and tell him how he liked Autzen on his visit. He might have good things to say.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Here's what's great: we're ranked 7 in the country. We've played 4 teams currently ranked (won 3), while Texas and Florida have only played 1 team ranked. We'll beat tOSU and probably finish the season ranked 3-5. Since we bring back 17 starters, we'll start NEXT YEAR ranked top 5. Face it: Oregon has been the present and will be the future. We're not the cute Rose Bowl story from 1994. We're now a perennial Pac-10/BCS contender and top-tier team that nobody wants to play at the end of the year
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
It was a great game, and every single news outlet, sports publication, broadcaster, and fan have been saying so. What I saw were 2 teams that would take Ohio State to the woodshed.
Did you watch the game? Did you? Can you please FINALLY explain how the offense is a gimmick?
I read another article Monday about how the spread is slowly trickling into the NFL, and that the simplified version of it will spread everywhere. Sorry bro, it's no gimmick. It's smart football. Run right, run left, pass
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
It's amazing how much you don't know. You do realize that the game was schedule for Saturday and it was changed for contractual reasons. So we're "cute" and "like Boise" because we play 1 game a year on Thursday? Because we wanted the entire country as an audience? Because ESPN would pay us hundreds of thousands of dollars to switch? Does that make VA Tech cute too? They play Thursdays, regularly. The best part is, I read 3 articles this week about how it was a great decision to play Thursday.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Haha. I just looked up NFL players. Get this...during Oregon's "great years" of mid-major football you have 23 NFL active NFL players.
Michigan State has been mediocre at best over the last decade and we have 23. What a fucking joke.
And you know it. Congrats on ESPN awarding oregon with the small-time 50K-seat stadium and 50K television viewers ESPN fan award. haha.
I can't wait to see your slow, gimmick bullshit get blown up by tOSU.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
I really hope you beat Oregon State so that the Buckeyes can make you look foolish, even though you're doing a pretty good job at it yourself.
I'll tell you what really pisses me off is that I'm even arguing with a fucking mid-major school about football. Jesus Christ, do they even play high school football in Oregon?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
I only read your last post. Yeah, I'm sure Oregon has some good players that put up big numbers- kind of like Timmy Cheng and Colt Brennan at Hawaii.
Listen Small Time, there's a reason why you are playing for the PAC10 championship on Thursday night. LOL.
Oregon and Boise State are IDENTICAL. You are both cute, gimmicky schools. And there isn't a single NFL team that would ever run the garbage they run at mid-major oregon.
Shotgun does not equate to the gimmick spread. Sorry.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Oh yeah, the BCS announced that there are only 16 (or 20, I forget) teams still eligible for BCS consideration. Both Oregon schools are in that list. Take a look and let me know if your Michigan schools are there. I only looked for Oregon, so I didn't check Michigan schools. You must be, though. UM and MSU are so good. Let me know.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Yeah, Utah, and West Virginia, etc have had some good seasons. The difference is this: We did it in the Pac-10 and we did it playing hard schedules--teams like USC, Cal, OSU, Ariz, Texas, Michigan, Miss State, OK State, Oklahoma.
We don't have a couple good seasons. We've had only 1 losing season since 1995. That's better than a couple good seasons, friend.
Again, I love your smalltime jabs. It's funny, since a Pac-10, Division 1 A, perennial BCS contender can't be smalltime. Haha.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Let's talk BCS era, because that's the only time that matters to me. I wasn't alive in 1940s to see Notre Dames championships. The Pac-10 is the only conference with a winning record against every other conference. Yes, that includes the SEC.
And ASU and UW this year, two of Pac's 3 worst teams, were one missed field goal and one drive away from beating LSU and Georgia, respectively.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And again, we don't run the same offense as Rich. Our spread is not a gimmick spread. It's a simplified spread. We pass WAY more than he ever thinks to. And if we didn't have such good running backs, our coach would pass even more.
You need to open your eyes, it's the future. As of this year, 56% of NFL passes were thrown out of the shotgun. When the Pats set the scoring record in 2007 (2008?) they ran out of the shotgun most of the time. The Ducks version of the spread is just smart football.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You see, you may not see how it's possible, but it's true. You just have to look it up. And this is going to be a down draft year for the Ducks, because we're so young, returning 17 or 18 starters.
Rich Rodriguez is a good coach. He turned WV into a perennial contender, and if he gets a chance to land the right players, he could contend anywhere. But he has to get the right players.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
BTW, it looks like you're going to luck out again with the Big Ten once again getting two BCS bids.
You can beat your chest about how "down" the Big Ten is after Wisconsin gets beat by Alabama/FL, Northwestern gets beat whoever the ACC champ/runnerup is and Minnesota bets knocked around by some other conference winner.
Congratulations.
The only guaranteed win (i.e. fair matchup) is tOSU smacking around a non-USC Rose Bowl opponent. And Pryor sucks.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Looks like we're back to square one, pal. Oregon has better facilities than Michigan State. That's it, smalltime. Sure, you have had multiple seasons of 9-10 wins. So what?
Utah, Boise State, West Virginia, etc.. have had consistently "good" seasons over the past couple of years. Why do you think that is?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Oops.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
So you think Oregon has more NFL players than Michigan State? That would surprise me greatly. Just don't see it possible.
Too many statistics, huh? Big Ten always has the best coaches, with the exception of Rich Rodriguez who just happens to be destined to fail because he runs the same crap that would only fly at schools like Oregon.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Just saying: Big 10 has three teams in the BCS standings, Pac 10 has five.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And I almost forgot: I sure hope you watch the game. It's going to be good. Better than the crap your conference has subjected us to all season. Enjoy the good football, whoever wins.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And it's funny. You like to use this midmajor word. Yet, I don't know what it means. You seem to forget I didn't go to Houston or TCU.
Are you watching the Sunday night game? It's the Oregon show. The only two players they've talked about the whole game are Haloti Ngata and Dennis Dixon. It's the Oregon show baby.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check the BCS standings. For some reason, seeing the Ducks in the top-10 (again) at 7 never gets old. Where's MSU?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Excuse the long posts. There's just SO much statistical evidence to disprove everything you say it's hard to consolidate. Putting all of our wins, success, big games, Heisman contenders, NFL draftees, wildly successful coaches. and media coverage into succinct posts is tough.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Congratulations on having a BIG GAME coming up. Not only Rose Bowl implications, but people outside of oregon may actually tune in- myself included.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
And yes, Terrelle Pryor sucks. He would probably be the first to admit it. He's a horrible QB, but he'll still have success against teams like Oregon, Minnesota, Boise State, Indiana, etc...
I bet he runs all over your PAC10 defense. They may not have to attempt a pass in the Rose Bowl.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Could you do everyone a favor and consolidate your mid-major thoughts into maybe one or two posts? I actually find myself skipping over the majority of your drivel because it's just a block of nonstop text.
Thanks.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Search "I Love My Ducks" (I Smell Roses) on youtube. Even should get a kick out of it. It's a viral hit and Nike is trying to doctor it to play it this week during the Civil War (you know--that tiny game that decides the P-10 champ and Rose Bowl participant). If you don't find the humor in it, you're as boring as you are blissfully ignorant. Go Ducks.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago

QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I guess things like the conference you play in, the team's following, wins in a decade, wins against ranked opponents, conference championships, marketing power, recruiting base, Heisman hopefuls, etc. are all meretricious qualities. Your stadium needs to be AT LEAST as big as MSU's in order to be considered a big time program. Everything else is just superficial. That means only 22 teams out of Division 1's 117 are big time...based on their stadiums being as big or bigger than MSU's. Smart.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Blah blah blah. Midmajor midmajor midmajor. Do you know what midmajor means? Do you realize you have to be outside of the 6 BCS conferences? Meaning, if you're in the Pac-10, Big-10, SEC, Big East, ACC, or Big 12 you're not a midmajor?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Um, it is my understanding that USC quit AFTER our loss. Let me get this straight. You think that USC was ranked 5th in the country with legitimate NC or Rose Bowl hopes, and decided to quit the day before playing us? And generally, teams with talented players get better as the season goes on, not worse. So OSU, in actuality, played the worse team.
Further, how would you explain Oregon beating USC in 2007 when they were ranked 4th or 5th or 6th or whatever it was? Did they quit then too?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I can't wait to see your mid-major players bust out the READ OPTION against the Buckeyes.
I love that you try to compare USC beating Ohio State to USC losing to Oregon.
You follow the PAC10, right? You do realize that USC has absolutely quit on the season, right?
Or do you truly believe with all your mid-major heart that the USC who lost to Oreg. was the same team that beat Ohio State?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Hold on now, mid-major. You're trying to throw Terrelle Pryor numbers at me like they mean anything? Everyone knows Terrelle Pryor sucks. That's why it's going to be so funny watching Ohio State stomp your mid-major players.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Bottom line, you're a loser. Your team is a bunch of losers, your coach is a loser, your conference is filled with losers, you guys can't win shit, you suck, and you can't say ANYTHING to refute that because...it's statistically and factually true. Just look at the numbers, stats, and records. The only thing that sucks about the Pac-10 is our bowl schedule, which is our FORMER AD's fault. You guys stink. And you can't play the "if we played your schedule" card. UO: #15 SOS. MSU: #25 SOS. Fuck u.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Oh, and for the record (I don't know why I never mentioned this): I currently live in Illinois. That's right--the heart of Big 10 country. I have to deal with you people regularly. But my favorite part is meeting people from Mich, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, etc. who went to UO and moved back to the Midwest, and all of them say the same thing: the gameday atmosphere at UO is INFINITELY better than all their hometown Big-10 teams. They say Big-10 games sound like a wake. Everybody sits...silence.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Oh, and for the record...it's 60,000 fans. And we do have fun, thank you. It's really easy having fun when you get to watch wildly fun football, your team consistently ranks in the upper-echelon in the country, your stadium is regularly voted the loudest and best experience IN THE COUNTRY, and you have sweet uniforms. But, maybe watching your team lose regularly in front of a WHOPPING 75,000 fans is your idea of fun? I don't know. Never tried. Send me a 6-6 post card from your Whatever Bowl.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I read so many article about how the Big 10 is just embarrassing itself of late, how they're out of touch with college football, and wall themselves into their conference while ignoring the better football being played elsewhere. I also read about how the Pac-10 is the deepest league and has the most exciting games. Our league is also the toughest because we play a round-robin schedule (surprise! MSU doesn't have to play OSU this year...wait, what?), and your teams are slow and games are boring
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And allow me to just belt this out one more time because it's so much fun: you lost to CMU at home, you're actually 6-6 despite saying 7-6, you've had twice as many losing seasons the past 7 years as Oregon's had in the past 15, your best season of late was a weak 9-4, the Big 10 was 1-6 in bowls while P-10 was 5-0 last year, your conference hasn't won a BCS in ages, P-10 leads the all time B-10 vs P-10 Rose Bowl match up, while you venerate your league, the rest of the country points and laughs
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
More people watched MSU-PSU than UO-UA? "Just a guess"? Is this the same intuition you used for UO-Cal? UO-USC? Our recruiting? Or all the other shit you got wrong? Something tells me that the College Gameday crew's game of the week on national TV pulled in more viewers than a midday yawn-fest between crappy PSU and horrible MSU. And even if they didn't, I don't get what the big deal is. So more people watching means better football or better players? I don't get your point. At all.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Yes, you're right...7-6 is HARDLY a losing season. But if that's what you want to hang your hat on, that's cool. Here at Oregon, we demand 9-11 win seasons every year. Then again, after suffering through losing season after losing, your 7-6 record must be nice. If only you played the likes of Utah and Boise State. Oh wait....shouldn't you work on beating someone like Central Michigan at home before talking about taking on good mid-major teams for you out-of-conference slate? I think you should.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Lol.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
The most ridiculous part of this entire argument is that you actually believe Oregon has a chance to beat Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
NEWS FLASH....USC isn't in the Rose Bowl this year. You asked me what I had against Oregon's gimmick style?
Watch what Ohio State does to you on January 1st and then get back to me. Have fun playing in front of 50K fans :)
balmdeezy 2 years ago
7-6 is hardly a losing season. If we played the liked of Oregon, Utah and Boise State, Michigan State would probably have an impressive record.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
I bet more people watched the Michigan State game than the "gameday" Arizona game. Just a guess.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
So, again, enjoy your losing season...again. Enjoy watching your conference go 1-6, 2-5, or 3-4 in bowl games. Enjoy another losing season by MSU. Enjoy watching OSU win your conference again. Enjoy no big games to end your conference. Enjoy watching Oregon on ESPN classic tonight as an "Instant Classic". Enjoy your slow, out-of-date teams. Enjoy Terrell "I suck" Pryor being the face of your conference. And enjoy Oregon being the youngest team in the country, which means they'll only get better.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Regardless, I'll take a ranking "up there with Utah, BYU, Boise State, and Houston." Why? Because BYU plays in a harder conference than the Big-10 in the Mountain West, Houston has a likely Heisman finalist, BYU has beaten Oklahoma, Boise has beaten Oklahoma, Utah has beaten Alabama and ended season ranked 2nd twice this decade, and most of the teams are regularly in the top-20. I'd rather be in their company than loser Big-10 teams who can't beat anyone with a pulse, play boring ball, and suck.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And again, you can keep going with this theme of mid-major. I don't really care. Especially because it makes you sound ridiculous, and like you have no idea what a mid-major is. Because Oregon isn't a mid-major. Hahahaha. It's so funny. I mean, you're either using caustic sarcasm, or you really...just...don't...have...a...clue.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And yet again, Oregon is on the front page of every news site--ESPN, Sports Illustrated, FoxSports, etc-- Masoli earned national player of the week on most sites, we're ranked in the top-10 again, LaMike James set a Pac-10 record for freshman rushing in the P-10, everyone is talking about us, and we now play Oregon State in the Civil War (one of the oldest rivalries in the country) on ESPN for the Rose Bowl. Big games? You want to talk about big games?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
So you think I'm wrong for pointing out Ohio State? A team that has been embarrassed the past 6 BCS bowl games. A team that managed only 21 points against a HORRIBLE Michigan D, despite the fact that Michigan turned the ball over 5 times. HAVE YOU SEEN TERRELL PYROR'S STats???!!!!!?!?! They're atrocious!! Ohio State lost to Purdue and USC at home and that's you're dominant program? I just don't understand how you can't see the FACT that you're conference has been simply bad since--what?-- 2002.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You want to talk about big games? While Florida played FIU, Alabama played Chattanooga, Mich and OSU put people to sleep, Iowa put people in a coma, and ND lost again, the Pac-10 featured 2 games with 3 ranked teams and a really good Arizona team. One went to double overtime, the other was decided by a last-second interception in the endzone, and the Oregon game was carried by Gameday (again) on national T.V. (again). AND both games carried Rose Bowl implication. Yet, you play all the big games?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Yeah, I'm sure you'll be ranked right up there with Utah, BYU, Boise State and Houston. Very appropriate company.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Uh oh. Uh oh. Now you've done it. You were doing well throwing information out there that couldn't be proved. Now you go and rip on Ohio State.
You do realize that a scrub from the PAC-10 will be playing the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl, don't you?
Do you honestly think Ohio State would ever allow a team like Oregon/Washington/Stanford to beat them in a big game like that?
You're out of luck Qwak. No USC coattail riding this year :(
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Haha. We did get dominated by Purdue but still won, much like your team. Does that mean Michigan State is as weak as Oregon this year?? I hope not.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Hahahaha!
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And hey, asshole, you want to know what I really think about College Gameday? I think they've been to Oregon 4 times since they're inception, and MSU 3 times. One of your trips was 1997 (were you even alive?), and the other time the site was LSU-Auburn but had to be moved because of Hurricane Ivan, so that was a default visit. So yeah--you were wrong again. And what would you know, Gameday is making the trip out west again to watch Oregon play Arizona. Why not dominant, awesome, big time MSU?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Meanwhile, I'll just keep enjoying yet another stellar season by my Ducks, another likely top-10 finish and 10 or 11 win season as a dominant team in the Pac-10--a super competitive BCS conference, as you would know, and watch as they probably start next year in the top-5, considering they return 19 out of 22 starters. ALSO, Oregon will have two Heisman frontrunner next year in LaMichael James and Jeremiah Masoli. How does MSU look next year? Any Heisman hopefuls? No? Not really? Too bad.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You do realize we're the best team in the deepest conference in the country. And you're a middle-of-the-pack team in the worst league in the country. I've blissfully spent all day reading on ESPN, FoxSports, and Yahoo that the Big 10 is an embarrassment and OSU is one of the weakest champs in recent memory. You were 1-6 in bowls last year, and have a 6 game losing streak in BCS games. Whether OSU plays Oregon, Stanford, or Oregon State, they're going to be absolutely ruined. Thanks Big 10--er 1
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Speaking of sucking, OHIO STATE IS YOUR CHAMP!!!! They're HORRIBLE. You want to call us the Pac-1? So why aren't you the Big-1? I believe that's their 5th title in a row. Big 1.
And by the way, if you would just check any recruiting site, you would find that Oregon has recruited better players than MSU almost every year the last 10. And you still want to talk about our loss to Stanford? After they beat USC and got ranked 14th? Tell me about that Central Michigan loss at home.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Still want to talk shit about Purdue? You seemed to be pretty high on the fact that Oregon just barely beat them. Um, You just barely beat them. Not only have they doubles the amount of wins you predicted (yes, you were wrong again), but they look like a decent, yet inexperienced, team. It'll be nice when they beat Indiana and wind up a 5-win team with WILDY close losses. Sure they suck, but not as bad you you thought. And what a surprise the whole Big 10 sucks.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And you're right--Oregon probably couldn't build a stadium right now. But that's not because they don't have the funds. It's because they allocated those funds towards a 160,000,000 million dollar basketball stadium that will be the nicest in the country as well as numerous academic buildings, such as THE NICEST student learning center in the country, among other things. At the blink of an eye, Oregon could build a stadium that would trump most or all Big10 stadiums. But, we love Autzen.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I like this small time angle you keep going with. It really makes no sense. You are one of the worst researchers I've ever encountered. You're perpetually wrong, and it doesn't even bother you. Where do you get the idea we have one donor? We have numerous donors, all giving ridiculous amounts of money to the school. There's a reason we have some of the nicest, high-tech, and energy-efficient buildings as well as state-of-the-art sports facilities. Our football facilities trump all in Big 10.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I'm interested to watch the Michigan State v. Purdue game this weekend. I wonder if Purdue will dominate the game like they did out in Oregon. What do you think?
Congratulations on College Game Day. I'm guessing Michigan State has had CGD more than Oregon. What do you think?
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Listen, Small Time, don't take out your mid-major frustrations on The Tradition. The David v. Goliath angle is cute, but it makes you look silly.
Your team is slow. Recruit some better players and then get back to me.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
No. You have a tiny athletic budget. One donor may be able to purchase you a wonderful practice facility, but it takes real money to build a stadium.
Maybe you could "outbuild" Northwestern or....well....that's really it. Better get some new material, Small Time.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Just for clarification, could you explain why Oregon's offense is a gimmick? A gimmick is the Winged T, triple option, option, trick plays, laterals, etc. Oregon just runs where there are less defenders and throws the ball to the TE and WR (I don't know if you have those positions in non-gimmick land). So pray! Do tell... how is it a gimmick? Because the QB runs every now and again? Is it because John Gruden comes to our school to study our offense? I'm excited to hear this.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I hope to God you guys lose @ Purdon't. You were already wrong about them being a 2 win team. Then again, you've been wrong about Cal, USC, our funding, our recruiting, our team speed, our standing as a major university, and whatever else, so that's no surprise. It's so funny.
And you can mention Rich Rodriguez, but, ummm, Penn State, Ohio State, Purdue, and Illiois all run a spread version. It's everywhere. And Oregon's is so simple. Again, no gimmick. It's run right, run left, pass.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
The fact of the matter is, Oregon is still ranked 13 (top ten in power rankings), has navigated one of the 10 hardest schedules in the country quite well, are first place in the Pac, are in control to go to the Rose Bowl, and are still a wildly talked about team. Michigan State, on the other hand, is 5-5, unranked, forgotten, buried, and ignored, and 6th place in the Small 10. Congrats. I hope your HUGE stadium of 72,000 fans enjoy watching that shit.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Whatever, we lost to Stanford. It's none as a trap game. Most pundits predicted Stan. to be one of Oregon's 2 losses this year. They are perfectly built to beat Oregon. They play 7 offensive linemen, they have a 240lb FB and a 240 RB. It's the perfect offense to exploit our D's small and fast players. They're a top 25 team with NFL QB and RB, will beat whoever plays them in a bowl, and it was on the road. Not that surprising.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
"I think you'd have a tough time building a new stadium." Hahaha, based on what? How do you even conclude this? Are you a writer for US Weekly, making shit up? The things you say are pure speculation. You've rarely been correct in anything you say. You just say shit because you think it's cheeky, yet there is no evidence of truth.
Oregon is constructing a $165,000,000 basketball stadium that will undoubtedly be the finest in the country. If it wanted, the school good outbuild any B10 school.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Have a tough time building a new stadium? HAVE A TOUGH TIME BUILDING A NEW STADIUM? You are seriously daft, and your ignorance continues to leave me utterly nonplussed. Not only is our "1 donor" THE FOUNDER OF NIKE, but we have countless other strong donors and a completely self-reliant athletic system.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You're right. We wouldn't be .500 in the Small 10. We'd be .750 or higher. You have such a hack, has-been, slow, boring, fat, ugly, and outdated conference that consistently finds ways to lose to SEC, Big 12, and Pac-10 teams.
And let's count, again, since you're too dumb to figure shit out on your own. National televsion: BSU, USC, ASU, probably UA, and OSU. That's 5. And no matter what you want to say, that was one of the coolest and most anticipated College Gamedays in a long while.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I think you'd have a tough time building a new stadium. One donor can only do so much. The Oregon athletic budget is tiny.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
lol @ Stanford. Don't worry, you'll play another good team in the future that your team can get up for. Boise State Ducks.
Oregon wouldn't be .500 in the Big Ten. Just look at Rich Rodriguez. Your gimmick bullshit high school offense better stay in the PAC 1 + 9.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Congratulations on defeating USC. Oregon truly is a mid-major, aren't you? Just like Boise State, your team gets up for the one game of the season.
Congratulations on being on national television for the first time all year, too. I believe you actually had better ratings than the Michigan State/Minnesota game on the BTN.
That's a first :)
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
I ran out of space. And I'm done researching. The point is, you were wrong...again. I just picked a bunch of guys--some starting, some sitting, and one just committed a few weeks ago--and look at that. They were--gasp--offered by "respectable schools".
Sorry buddy. I like arguing and talking with college football fans. I'm open to many perspectives and opinions. You, sadly, are not a college football fan. You're a blind, ignorant, homer, know-nothing idiot fan from MSU. Wake up, buddy.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Proof: "Look at your recruits! You rarely get a top prospect who was OFFERRED by a respectable school."
Darron Thomas-Florida, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, OK State
Jeremiah Masoli- Auburn, Arkansas, Florida
Ed Dickson- Michigan, USC, Oklahoma, LSU
Casey Matthews- Tennessee, Cal, Clemson
Tyrece Gaines- Oklahoma, Mississippi, OK State, Mizzou
Anthony Gildon- Michigan USC
Darrion Weems- Nebraska, Florida, Washington
Chris McCain- VT, Florida State, South Carolina
Simi Filii- Neb, Tenn, OK State
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And your comment about our recruiting is stupid. Every time you open your mouth, you make it VERY apparent that you only follow Michigan State and know NOTHING about college football. College football is the only thing I follow, only occasionally stopping to pay attention to the Dodgers and Lakers. I would take my knowledge over your bias any day. The more you say, the more you make it clear you really don't follow college football on a larger scale.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
And you say it only works against Washington and Washington State? So how do you explain our wins against Colorado, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Texas...
And before you run your mouth off about USC being better than UO (which they may be on paper, because they're the best team in the country every year), I should mention that UO is 7-5 against USC the past 12 games, and the last time they met in Autzen as top-10 teams, Oregon won 24-17. So....just saying.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
How are you small time athletics when everyone in the country knows about us, we have countless top-15 finishes, Heisman candidates, numerous 10-win seasons, and a marketing machine backing us in Nike?
And again, our offense isn't really a gimmick. It's simplified. That's all. I don't understand how handing the ball off left, right, and center, and passing like any other team makes it a gimmick. Chip Kelly says it constantly, it's nothing fancy, gimmicky, or flashy. It's just basic football.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
If the the football program asked for it, we could have a state-of-the-art, top-notch, mammoth stadium built in 2 years. We have Nike backing us, it's a self-reliant football program, and they make a ton of money (there's no athletic competition in the state). But the school doesn't want it. They PREFER having a stadium of 60,000 fans built PERFECTLY to trap noise, making it the most intimidating and loudest stadium in the country.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Um...mid-major in what sense? Mid-major in that they're in one of the most prestigious conferences in football, they're an automatic BCS qualifier, and they're a marketing giant? Okay, I'll take it.
Um, it's not a high school stadium. It's a perfectly constructed stadium that maximizes noise. You think we don't have the funds, space, or resources to have a giant stadium? Since we're in the process of building, literally, the countries nicest basketball stadium, I can assure you we do.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
Yes, Florida has had success with the gimmick spread, but Urban Meyer has publicly stated that he plans to scrap it after Tebow graduates because it is an ineffective offense against quality competition.
Oregon's gimmicks work against Washington and Washington State and Arizona, but it's a high school offense.
And Florida backed into its two national championships. You can't honestly believe that they were half as good as USC. A FL/USC matchup would have been a beatdown.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Face it, oregon is SMALL TIME ATHLETICS! No one cares about you. The only televised game you will have all season is against USC and I would be shocked if you keep it close.
USC- the only respectable team in the pac10- will completely outclass your tiny school.
Your team brings nothing to the table. Absolutely nothing. No one wants to watch a crappy defense and a gimmick offense.
You listed Oklahoma State and Michigan as examples of the gimmick spread????
balmdeezy 2 years ago
The ONLY thing oregon has going for them is that you are located in a beautiful state and have great facilities. That is only two attributes out of 100s.
No, you can't count your high school stadium being loud. I've been in high school gymnasiums that are load. Not something to hang your hat on.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Wow. I can't believe I'm actually taking heat from a fucking MID-MAJOR UNIVERSITY. This is more embarrassing than losing to Notre Dame.
If you recruited better than Michigan State during the John L. Smith era, it wasn't by much. Look at your recruits! You rarely get a top prospect who was OFFERRED by a respectable school.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
By the way, watch the game this Saturday. It should be a good one, whatever the result.
P.S.
I'm pissed you lost to Iowa. You really could have helped us out by winning. I still have Ohio State to hang my hope on. After all, I can't expect a second-rate Big 10 team like MSU to hang on against this year's power in the Big-10.
Also, do you have anything to say about Purdue? I mean, would you admit they're better than you thought? Or is their win just indicative of how bad the Big-10 is?
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago

QwakkAtakk 2 years ago
You're right. They're not a top-25 team. They're a top-10 team, actually. If you honestly want to argue their talent, you're not just "standing by your team" or "playing favorites", you're being stupid.
Oregon runs a gimmick offense? Really? Is that the same gimmick offense run by Ohio State, Penn State, Boise State, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Cal, Miami, Oklahoma State, West, Virginia, Michigan... How is it a gimmick when all they do is hand off left, hand off right, and pass? Sounds normal.
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago

QwakkAtakk 2 years ago

Sorry
QwakkAtakk 2 years ago

That, my friend, is a big game.

Now, your definition is a fair one -- that championship games are the biggest games -- which is true to certain extent as well.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
I really wish the Big Ten had crappy bowl affiliations like the PAC10 so Michigan State could destroy your scrub team.
MSU may be an average Big Ten team, but that puts them at #2 in the PAC10.
A Spartan-oreg. matchup would get fugly real quick, especially since MSU has faster players.
balmdeezy 2 years ago
Nice argument about Notre Dame....not. So because Notre Dame plays 4 PAC10 teams this year means.....what?
All it means is that their are 4 PAC teams who have ONE big game the entire season (and probably for the decade).
Even when PAC teams play USC (the only team of value in that wasteland of a conference), it's really not that big of a game because no one watches! haha.
