I hate David Camera-Man he is on the verge of ruining any history, soul or art england has left. However he is doing well with "the economy", because were all selfish and english and we only seem to care about how rich we are. But art is the thing that gives us a soul, and what is a country with no soul. A land of opinion lost robots walking to their day by day jobs, where nothing ever interesting happens, apart from when you get a big paycheck. Selfish Bastard.

Inflation was 10.3% when Thatcher was voted in not 26.9%. Unemployment was 1,299000, it did not fall below this until ,October 1998 long after Thatcher was out of office. Monetarism was a total disasster for the UK. By 1994 it was foreign companies buying up British companies. Hardly suggestive of a successful economy

Growth is important the faster the economy grows more in money terms can be spent on the public services, that is why in the Thatcher years when the growth rate stimulated from the reforms was strong Public spending in cash terms on the NHS and Education rose faster than during the Labour government 97-2010. You're wrong. Free market capitalism is the only system which honors and mirrors what makes this world spin. The simple fact that the world spins and revolves around private INDIVIDUALS pursuing their own interests. Any society which tries to defy that very simple time-tested philosophy is the only society which shall witness its own ruin. Those riots in Greece are a pretty good example of where socialism goes. Nobody could universally define what greed is.

@2muski Yes you're right, corporate Capatilism and Globalization (they go together) is an evil but don't make the mistake of thinking it is conservativism or socialism because it isn't, it is the opposite. Also the mass immigration over the Blair era was part of the globalization agenda...you cant say its just one party anymore because they are both serving the banks and corporations who want a homogenized world.

kk my comment is probably very vein so sorry if it offended you. BUT the scots get all the benefits of being seperate from england but its england who funds all the uni students and loads more things. At my brothers college in cheshire theres a scottish lad who gets his course paid for but he doesnt live in scotland. Its unfair. Scotland wouldnt cope without england. FACT

@SMI05011459 this is my problem with england they dont seem to reliase that scotland plays a major role in the UK economy. our oil makes up a huge portion of the UK economy and wether you like to think it or not we are important. otherwise why would not be allowed to breakaway, cause we make the country so much money! and we get free uni cause our Scottish Government pays for it for us, and there is thousand upon thousands of studetns from england and the world who come to Scotland to study. !!!

- Including the future king! I'm with you. Scotland's political, cultural, financial, and intellectual contribution to the UK is often underrated by the English. If Scotland, Ireland, and Wales floated off into the Atlantic a few hundred years ago the English would find their quality of life would be very much degraded.

@SMI05011459 Thats not facts its fiction. The economic argument is secondary, the racist attitude towards Scotland is what drives the independence movement. However it is documented that if Scotland were to succeed from the Union it would have the hardest currency in Europe, and to quote the then Governments findings on the subject the budget surplus due to North Sea Oil and housing unlike England the two largest banks of the Kingdom would be "embarrasingly large". Scotland subsides the South.

It's not racist to have an oppion!! and the fact of the matter is Scotland does benefit more than England in the Union. I am sure from the Scots' point of view independence would be a mistake - the Luxembourg of the north they are not - but grown-ups must be allowed to make their own mistakes.

@MrMdjmeredith Ok well thanks for correcting me, im quoting from an economist working for the Heath Government during the mid 70s. The oil pays for everything. It payed for the Falklands War and it in turn was the only reason Mrs Thatcher was able to go so hard at the unions, because as of 1980 she had fresh oil tax revenues. The argument now in Scotland is are we better off richer perhaps only in the short term but loosing a decreasing international cachet given by the union.
